Hi there,

I'd like to search for stories that have `all of the tags I select` or `any of these tags but none of these`or maybe even in `multiple categories, containing all of these tags` -- basically a more robust search than just any story that contains any of the tags I selected.

Or maybe I just don't know how to use the advanced search options? That would be great, please teach me.

TIA!!

-jennifer

hi jennifer

unfortunately not, advanced search really isn't sad

a more advanced search has always been on the backlog, just need to dedicate some time for this.

cheers, gav

if we spiced it up by having the female membership send topless shots, he might go for it. ;)

Why are you excluding half our members? How do you think Buz paid for his recent request for a new story editor control silly
Quote by browncoffee

Any progress on this or is it just me who finds it mildly inconvenient?

It should take you to the next unread message in your inbox. Is this what you expect / see ?
Quote by Liz

It is closed.

Maybe we could just put the word 'COMP' under the score box or something? A visual indicator that it was a competition entry as opposed to a normal story submission?

Great idea, I've added this now.

Is it just me or is anyone else being disconnected from the server pretty often the last couple days? I know a couple other friends who have experienced the same problem. Is there a solution?

The solutions is for me not to publish updates when the sites busy
Isn't that comp closed now, so we can reveal the scores?

1. I suspected as much and this is why I think this new policy of voting will help. I don't for one second question the seriousness of this issue.

2. My point was solely with those who enter the comps. I know for me I worry that I won't have enough votes to qualify (per the rules you must have a minimum of 10 votes.) We don't find out how many votes we get until after the comp closes (and yes, how we got scored overall.) I don't need to know who voted for my story (unless the tell me personally) as much as I'd like to know that I earned the necessary 10 votes and can stop stressing about if my story qualified. While I can't speak for any one else... I'm sure it would be a nice thing to know that their story did make the 10 vote minimum cut.

Gav... if you could please... consider a blurb in our timelines for just this issue.

Maybe we can solve your stress with an alternate approach. I wonder if authors get to see the number of votes made on their comp entries. I don't see adverse effect with this, does anyone else?

I would like to see the icon for 'competition story' entries returned to show which new stories on the front page are competition entries.

Can you elaborate a bit on this one, more pictures than words please silly

awesome, gav it looks great now! if i say so myself, the dark theme gives a rather sleek feel to the site. sexy sexy...

since you seem to be in holiday spirit, or have just ate a box of wheaties, may i make one more request? i would absolutely LOVE if we were able to upload images at the 'customize profile' page. i do everything on the site from my phone except change my background. in order to do that, i have to hop on my laptop. i understand that that in itself isn't a hardship - but it is rather tedious.

in order to change my background, i have to scroll through not only my image gallery, but my hidden image gallery, and five albums. to make this task easier, i upload (often reupload) an image to place it at the very end. if we had the option to upload on that page, it would be much more user-friendly. or, is there any way that the order of our image gallery could be reversed, like it is on the story submission page, with recent uploads first? that would be very much appreciated as well.

as ALWAYS, thank you for ALL of your hard work. your dedication to the site is evident in every visit.

I opted for the easy option, hope it helps smile

So a question about this
I have noticed a lot of people who I talk with..who have told me they are in the UK are appearing as having a time zone that does not match being in the UK
but more like west coast

Would they have had to scroll and select that as being their time zone..or is it possible its a glitch?

They probably haven't setup their Timezone. Any examples, PM me.

That because of daylight savings time....

Like I said, it's rubbish. They just add an arbitrary # of hours ignoring DST changes.

OMG!!! i just tested this out and i absolutely love it!!! is there any way that it can be extended to the forums? the dark theme transfers everywhere but here.

thank you SO much for EVERYTHING you do, gav!

EDIT: there seems to be an issue with stories/poems showing up on those profiles that use the default background. the link is visible, but you can't see the introduction.

Thanks HD, fixing this up now.

I've noticed that the forum posts times have always been an hour off every time I have checked.

My clock is correct on my profile.

Thanks Gav for that. It makes it easier to remember that not every one is in my time zone. Let's my brain have one less thing to work out. I'm lazy and don't need another task, lol.

Like this one is saying I am posting it at 1:36 am but it is 12:36 am.

The timezone handling in the forum is rubbish, sorry. The time on the story side of things should be right, let me know if this isn't the case.

Used to be a time where you could at least vaguely gauge a persons writing by their scores. Now 99.9% of stories have solid 5's and RR's are rarely awarded now so You can be already into a story before realising it's not a good choice for you. Some are going to say that's not true but it is. Rarely do you see a score less than a 5. Scoring has also become a popularity contest. "If you don't score mine, I'm not going to score yours". I really can't see any positive reason for knowing who scored your stories and what the score was (can usually be figured out). All it's done is breed animosity. It could be argued that yes we are all adults and/or scores/views don't mean anything but they do.

I do care about scores and comments. Whether you personally, care about scores or not doesn't change the fact there are those of us who do. Hopefully true scores would give writers an indication as to whether We could do better. As it is now, it means practically nothing.

I would assume that even if scoring was anon again, lush would still be able to identify serial or malicious score bombers so they could be dealt with.

p.s. Gav thank you for all that you do.

p.p.s. Why isn't my city on the time zone choices? Lol. We don't do that silly daylight saving thing. Our curtains will fade faster.

According to my calculations its lunchtime for you. For a Queenslander, that's a liquid lunch obviously.

And this, too! I can see a problem of where to put it, however. Maybe the time zone could be on our profiles?

I've added a local time field (with an accompanying setting to hide of course!) to your profile page.

Quote by Simmerdownchick

A drop down menu of your friends to make it easier to send messages. The way it is now you have to type each name in. Be nice if it was set up like the way we set who can see our image galleries where you can select from your friends list.

I've added this too, is this what you expected? I normally just use the auto-suggest list when I write a new message, all my friends have quite unique names. That's why I pick them silly

I made a suggestion back in 2013 about creating a 'night mode' or 'reading mode' for Lush. It would work by utilizing a secondary CSS file activated by clicking a toggle button. The original concept also incorporated the idea of a reading pane which would allow you to temporarily control both the text size and background colour on the story pages. This was primarily to assist the visually impared and dyslexic.

https://www.lushstories.com/forum/yaf_postst29176_Site-Suggestion-DARK-LUSH--Reading-in-the-dark.aspx

If this is what you guys had in mind we could possibly revisit the idea if Nicola approves. Maybe we could come up with something a little more Kindle-esque in design?

2013, zoinks we better not it wait another year then

i've added an experimental Dark theme. i'm pretty shit with colour schemes, so if anyone has some better suggestions for colour replacements i'm happy to change them.

once i've established a base Dark theme we can investigate what elements we can provide as customisation points on a per user basis.

I used to be able to center text in the story submission editor, like section breaks such as
-oOo-

I cannot achieve that anymore - will it get fixed?

I have tried the way this system does it and have also tried writing HTML to do the same such as
<DIV align="center"></DIV>
<p align="center"></p>

I've just added the justify buttons to the editor. Let me know how that works out.
I'm moving servers around, so the site will be unavailable for about 30 minutes.

This will commence at 7:30pm gmt / 11:30am pst / 6:30am aest

See you soon smile

I am a Windows guy, do my writing in Word but paste into Notepad to convert it to plain text before I post it here. Been burned too many times in the past to try pasting direct from Weird.

I put extra breaks in per Buz's advice and it submitted fine per Delphi, who verified it.

Browser is Chrome.

This new editor should be a little more compatible with Word. Next time you're feeling game perhaps use the paste from Word button, what's the worse that can happen
Quote by curvygalore

Super-Liz, I had this problem too (on Chrome and Windows 10 and possibly candle power). Have you found any way around this??

I've hidden the red toolbar at the top when in fullscreen mode.

Let me know if there continue to be issues with this.
As of today, Thursday, 15 December 2016 7:47 pm Zulu time we should now have birthday wishes being posted to one's wall.

In issues with this, please let me know.
hi everyone

i've replaced the antiquated submission box on our story page with a more modern plugin. this has mainly been driven by the persuasive buz who has used his charm to convince me to implement this change.

so, please document below any issues you encounter. please remember to include your OS (operating system) and browser to help me replicate and resolve these issues.

i think it is pretty damn stupid that if i am a bronze/silver/gold/platinium member i have to deal with that crap?
the real robots didnt pay
and yes i have seen 2 emails now from robots !!! not paid accounts and clearly got past the "im not a robot"

of course!

so from now on, paid subscribers will not see the robot check. if robots want to join up and pay, i for one welcome them

Seems like a great idea, even if the reason is unfortunate and it makes messages a little more cumbersome to send.

There may be things I'm not considering, but is the captcha validation necessary within an existing PM thread? That is, once an original PM has been validated with the captcha, maybe all subsequent replies within the same thread don't need it?
Thanks!

Whats a fabulous idea, I'll add that in now. Thanks OR!
As you can see I've added the captcha validation to send a friend and PM requests. Let's see if this stops or at least slows them down.

I hope we don't get to the point of having to remove the free bronze membership to stop these spammers. However I'm seeing lots of people leave the site because of them. Its not a great look having these messages being circulated through your internal systems.
Quote by noll
I've reported three, the first one three weeks ago, the other two earlier this week. But I noticed the profiles are still there, perhaps still spamming other members even. May I ask why it takes so long? Too many reports or a lot of time needed to verify whether the report is valid perhaps?

There isn't any real urgency in deleting these users. As you report these messages Callisto will verify them and schedule them for deletion. However as soon as they realise their account has been removed they will refresh their IP and sign-up again. I would rather let them think their account is active and still sending these spam messages, but internally silently deleting them before they are received.

Can pictures be posted in chat?
Or am I just too dense to figure it out?

Yeah for sure. You just need to paste in a link to an image, either externally or from your image gallery.
