Your judge read well and true. Congratulations to all and thank you especially Kimmi
😘

This is why I have refrained from publishing anything in a while. The mods have far more and better words to read here than my idle ramblings. Several have even acknowledged their relief in not seeing my name on the list, which just proves the wisdom of my action -- or inaction, if you will.
In all seriousness, they are the very soul and sensibility of this place, well deserving every writer's unbridled thanks and praise. If anything, they are the victims of their own success in making LUSH the best place on the web to be seen and published.

Wow. I was still in high school when that sucker came out of the factory. I remember those MB's. Not the prettiest cars Mercedes has ever built, but solid.
Hehe -- it's six years older than I am. I guess it's become something of a classic now. I was offered a surprising amount of cash money by an older Germanic gentleman in the parking lot at Trader Joe's, but I'm driving her until one of us won't start.
I try to have the whole story in my head before I start. If it seems to work, I write it all out longhand. I let it sit for a bit, then read it through, making additions and corrections as needs be. If it hasn't been rendered a complete mess, I write it out again. After another pause I read it straight through and decide yes or no. If the later, it goes into the fireplace. If the former, I type it out and do a careful edit for case, punctuation, etc. At that point, I read it for content detail. Is there a better, richer word than that? Is this sentence better coming before or after? Should her shoes be red or black? Once everything is perfect or I am too tired of it to care, I usually have a glass of beer for courage, then submit it.
Just so you know, the first three suggestions have been asked a number of times by myself and others since V2 opened for business. I am a platinum member and am nearing the 10,000 limit. The thought of purging old images one at a time for space is quite depressing. I would probably just buy a new identity instead.
I eat dill pickles or smelly cheese, but both have forsaken me of late.
Okay, silly aside. It is a hard place to be, I know for true.
Write something, anything. Don't try for a story, just make words move in your head.
Take a walk without purpose.
Think about something you saw during the day -- people waiting for coffee, a work mate at the copier, somebody hailing a cab. Think what might have happened ten minutes later. And ten after that. Follow the thread.
Don't think about a category. Let the story unwind and create its own container.
