It's always nice when an author responds to a comments but at the end of the day we should be... well 'looking after ourselves' while reading, maybe? lol

Some authors might be extremely shy and this could be their way of expressing themselves, but too shy to interact with people outside their friendship group or they might not even be on lush anymore. Hopefully you enjoyed the story, anything on top of that is awesome. But everyones different i guess
Hopefully this isn't too late for you;
First off, Congrats on entering the world of Bdsm and secondly, this is just my opinion so take it with a pinch of salt

For me the most important thing about Bdsm is that there is a lot of 'smoke and mirrors', the Sub has a lot more control than people often think because of 'hard' limits and safe words. The Domme is almost like the director of the Subs inner most hidden fantasies, bringing them out of her and experiencing them together but both partners need to enjoy it.
IN CASE YOU DON'T KNOW;

hard limits = do not even attempt under any circumstances, treat anything that is a hard limit as non-consensual basically and best to avoid things approaching/similar to it.
safe words = something easy you can say that won't come up in the heat of the moment for example “Grey” generally it means stop what you are doing and shouldn't be mistaken for playful resistance/begging
you can also have a 'slow-down or i need a breather' safe word
Limits and safe words are always needed. If the dom/domme ignores a safe word/limit then they're a prick.

When you first start out, it's a good idea for the Domme to keep kissing the subs body, brushing her hair behind the ear, playfully teasing, tickling (if they like it) etc something to reassure the sub that she/he is loved no matter what is happening and that they won't get hurt. As you move forward it becomes less important because you grow to understand one another and both people will know that they are safe, loved and most importantly enjoying it.

Also take it slow, you'll be having sex more than once - hopefully :P - so no need to cram every kink into one night

And don't forget to cuddle afterwards and talk about it.
Hope that helps as I said just my opinion, at the end of the day you will have to find your own way but best of luck to you both
