I've only watched "Avatar" from your list.

It piqued my interest as it's a rip-off of the excellent Hayao Miyazaki's "Castle in the Sky".
I was reading an article in The Guardian written by someone who hasn't watched Forrest Gump.

It got me thinking, which films were all the rage, which you haven't watched, and why?

https://www.imdb.com/list/ls053826112/

I didn't even know that "The Jesus Film" existed.

I've not watched anything Harry Potter. It's for kids right?

Jurassic Park sounded dull so I skipped that.

Anything produced by Marvel, I refuse to watch. Formulaic dross.

List away with your reasons!

Read another handful of comp entries last night. Wow. Really strong field. I've read maybe 30, and have my own fave top five or six, which I won't reveal here. I can't imagine winnowing it down to three. The judges are gonna have a tough choice.

Thanks for volunteering Verbal.

I'll take your word for which are the best 3!
The "Away" online status is still encroaching on our logo. I suggest removing it totally, or having a green dot light for online and something else for away.

I think we should make the tab order a little different for messages:

Removing "Items" would free up some space - we know they are sent messages as we are in messaging!

Maybe just have the 4 main ones people use:

Inbox | Sent | Online | Drafts | More >> Chat | Friend Requests | Folders

When in the Friend Requests section, I'm not sure what the top part is for?

The "Compose" button and "Search Messages" box?

Hi just wondering if everything is as it will be as my fonts throughout the site are different I have screen shots of each area so you can see but didnt know if we should still be sharing them on this thread. Let me know thanks Bria

Oh btw on an Ipad

Pics would be appreciated.

I am guessing it will most likely be that some CSS have been left with "default" rather than specific fonts.

I have to use this emoticon not knowing that the smiley face at the bottom of messages is actually the thing to press to bring up the smileys box. Now I feel silly!
Hi,

The sites aren't synchronised to that extent I'm afraid.

I can have a story removed for you if you wish?

Please let me know which and I'll make it happen!
Hi,

With a lot of people busy with their families and working from home during these trying times, one of the knock-on effects here is the story queue is backing up.

It now stands around the 70 queued up stories mark.

We will endeavour to process them and get your stories published as soon as we can, but expect delays of up to a week.

If you'd like to see your story published earlier and indeed support our efforts here, please consider upgrading your account to get priority service.

Thank you for your understanding.

Cheers,

Nicola
Wow, 78 entries already.

We're sure to hit 100 with this competition.
Yes, it's on a subdomain.

There's a very good reason we left them until last!

The main problem is the YAF code has been chopped around to suit the site and a bunch of admin tools hang off it. Upgrading to the latest mobile friendly version of YAF would probably have no end of consequences to how much of it still works, especially from an admin point of view.

Changing the CSS shouldn't be too much of an issue I'd have thought [-o<

I actually did not know this until one of my team started using the term a year or so ago. Sounds like something you'd find in a fast food joint.

A responsive version of the forums would be nice, but I am good with this.

It's being worked on

Although ...

It seems a Russian hacker / spammer decided to write a bot to automatically creates accounts here, which can beat the "Captcha" bot (supposed) protection.

They have used yahoo.com as their email provider and created hundreds of accounts there too, so they know what they are doing, or have spent an awfully long time creating so many email addresses (which will be automatically whitelisted).

We have deleted hundreds of accounts in the last week and are putting new measures in place to try and combat the problem.

Apologies for any inconvenience. We are doing our best to stamp it out.

Browser is useful, too. In particular, Firefox often has issues that Chrome does not. I've hit that before with Xenforo, the board software I use to run a site.

I used to love Firefox, then they ruined it. Half the sites I visited wouldn't work correctly. It's as if they deliberately let it fall to pieces as Chrome took over. Surprisingly they still have 9% share of the browser market. Must be the diehards!

I normally use Edge and Chrome at a push.
It would be useful to know which devices you are using so we can fix any issues.

There will be a very small percentage of people in the same boat unable to use the BB's if we don't know what's causing it and can't replicate the problem.

Please let us know!

The box doesn't work when I try to open it.

Do you mean the black boxes?

I've tested online chat too. Both work as they should on an iPad, iPhone and a laptop.

Please try disabling the "Responsive Style Sheet" in your Privacy / Settings section (don't forget to press save).

Clicking on ACTIVITY shows me the above.

I'm pretty inactive and have the dreaded gap appearing too.

I am guessing the activity page template hasn't been done yet.

My inability to black box my friends continues this morning. I only attempt to box those on my friends list. I have never encountered this problem before in my 9 years on lush.

I've sent you a friend request and BB.

Are you using a laptop / desktop, or an iPad or mobile of some kind?

I have tested all 3 devices and successfully sent test messages.

Where are you trying to open a BB from?

If you mouseover a friend on this page: https://www.lushstories.com/membership/friends-list.aspx you should see the option at the bottom to "Online Message":

This works for me on a laptop, iPhone and iPad.

If you go to someone's profile, there's the "Send an online message" option as usual.

I've tested this with the Privacy Settings set to turn off the responsive style sheet, as well as leaving it on. It works as it should for both, so I'm stumped as to where / how you are encountering any difficulties!

Please provide more information on the device you are using, how you are trying to send an online message / black box, and what browser you are using.

Everything disappears to the right!

I've made Gav aware of this today.

I found if you reload the page (F5 typically), then the right hand side magically appears.

Another quirk like that is when I go to portrait mode on my iPad whilst someone's profile has loaded, ALL the blue sub-menus collapse, the "About MemberXYZ" isn't expanded, and clicking any of the sections does nothing.

Reloading the same page again while the page is vertical, it all works as it should.

It's like a refresh or something akin to that when a device is rotated, needs to be added in. I don't know about the technicals, but I think that describes what needs to be fixed adequately!
I decided she's a wonderful writer years ago.

A great selection for a long standing contributing and lovely member.

If I knew she was going to be chosen, I'd have baked a cake.

Congratulations on the recognition Turtle. Keep shakin' it!

Mobile or Laptop/Desktop?

On my phone, it is on the new layout and seems to be ok.

On my laptop I have to either reduce the width of the window
Or as dlcalguy suggests increase the zoom (CTRL++). This forces the new layout on the mail box and brings the tabs back.
This will NOT work if you have checked the box to disable the new style (see Nicola's sticky).

I've fired a message to Gav, but as an Aussie, he's probably got his head on the pillow still.

True!

Give it a few hours, he's quite the insomniac.

I think his work plate will be full over the coming days. Please give him a chance to rectify things over the next week.
It's all style sheets and nothing has been removed permanently. Everything can be fixed!

We had a group of 20 odd people beta test the new design and clearly there are areas on the site which a lot of people use more frequently than our merry group of testers!

As far as I know, the main areas of the site - the stories, categories and homepage, are all working perfectly. Yay!

It's up to our resident code guru (and his helper!), to fix up the rest of the issues as soon as he's able.

Rest assured, they are on the case.

Please give as many details as you can when reporting problems. Screenshots as well if you can. It really helps to narrow down where the issues are occurring.
The change avatar setting has disappeared.

And in the settings section on a laptop (style sheet turned off or on in the settings), the menus are squished right up the top next to our red header bar:

While I think about it, the order for all the different options doesn't seem so intuitive. The bulk of our members aren't authors, but "copyright information" is the first link you can click.
I get the same things as you guys when switching back to the original style sheet.

I think Gav rushed it out this morning and will need to tinker with it all over the coming days. There were a lot of page elements (or something like that!) which needed rewriting so it's not as simple as flicking a switch to the old style sheet unfrotunately.

Please keep the feedback coming. We'll get there soon enough.
