We are currently experiencing the perfect storm of a lot of story submissions, plus a shortage of verifiers able to give their time to the site of late.

There are 100 submissions sitting in the story queue at the moment.

Stories / poems will therefore take a little longer than usual to be published on the site.

If you'd like to fast-track your story to the top of the pile, as well as getting a higher level of editing help, please consider supporting us and purchasing a Gold Membership.

Thank you for your consideration and understanding.

Nicola

Today is my first wedding anniversary and my husband decided that because we can't celebrate it, he'll cook dinner (he cooks roughly once or twice a year.) Well, he's now set fire to the oven gloves that he placed on the hob, and the kitchen is a no-go zone for the next couple of hours whilst the smoke clears. He has never cooked without setting fire or exploding something ?

I'm going to have a large glass of wine...

Ha!

I hope you had a lovely anniversary regardless!

Yeah, Nicola. I have 563 actually, but I got a ways to go before I have 1,000 stories published.

Keep at it EMD, you're over halfway there!

Gav is fixing the thresholds.
Gav has been made aware.

You just can't get the staff these days!
Can you give us an example URL of one which doesn't work and I'll ask Gav to investigate. Sometimes these sites change the way they work and our system needs updating.

Posting the URLs is fine too.
We allow a cover image, but because of potential issues relating to a) Copyright b) Moderation c) Stories being littered with images, we made a policy decision to not go further allowing images / illustrations in the story body content.

Also I love this theme its one that I never really get tired of writing so lets do it again for the next comp also

We already did!

The shortlisting will begin tomorrow.

Enjoy the remainder of your weekends everyone.
"So the car mechanic said it looks like I've blown a seal. I told him I'd just been eating ice cream. It got awkward after that."

The work put in by this moderator to / for the site this year, and in the last few months in particular, has been well over and above the call of duty.

She has been doing some fantastic work both on-site and off, promoting and helping run the place.

In August alone, she processed a staggering 220 stories.

Please give a big round of applause to the effervescent Laura!

Gav is away all week. Back next week.

He will get to any issues soon.
Gav is playing with the responsive stylesheet at the moment for mobile devices.

There always used to be a cam link on the old mobile site (but not on desktop), which brought in some revenue, but it's missing from the new mobile setup.

It's a work in progress. The whole red header will be redesigned to make it more mobile friendly over the coming months.
The worst pub I've ever been to was called "The Fiddle."

It really was a vile inn.
A big thank you to those who have upgraded.

You keep the site alive.

Ads = hardly anyone clicks.

If it meant not loosing connection so often......I have images turned off a lot anyway. Can't keep up with pics coming one after the other

We've hardly had any outages the last few weeks since Gav has made some major changes, so you shouldn't be losing your connection on here.

So I rebooted my laptop, had dinner, cut my toe nails and tried again and its all fine now!

Silly me... thanks Rachel.

Pics or it didn't happen.

KIDDING! Please don't.

Gav will be monitoring this thread so if you find any issues, please let us know.
We have been working on a text only version of the site for several weeks, and I'm pleased to say it's now live.

This option was introduced as we thought it would be nice if people could view the site more discretely, particularly with so many of us now stuck at home. We've also had a lot of requests for this from people who view the site whilst in public and from those who prefer a simpler layout.

The majority of the site will be included in this feature. Gav is working on other sections as his time permits, but most of it is covered.

As it does away with banner ads which are a major income source, and to cover the costs of development, we have made this an option for Silver and up members.

If you spot any issues with the way it's working (or not working!), please let us know below.

You can switch to text only in your "theme" settings:

Can I re-use my story from the last comp? ?
Good thing its a subject I enjoy so much lol
I'll probably enter if i can stop becoming distracted by every tiny thing and actually focus.

Yay!

This one will certainly be a challenge. I'm really looking forward to reading the entries.
A bump and an example of a site who is stealing content this month, and what you can do about it.

My reply to several authors who've had their stories copied and posted on this sex-chat-partner content thieves throwaway site:

There are thousands and thousands of sites like that stealing content from us. There's very little I can do about it, particularly as I'm not the owner of the copyrighted content. You, the authors are.

But what you can do when content thieves try to make themselves uncontactable (always do a thorough check of the site for any method in which they may be contacted), is go to both their host and registrar, kicking up as much stink as you can:

https://whois.domaintools.com/sexchatpartner.com will give you some details. It seems our Bulgarian friend is deliberately hiding their details there too, behind the domain privacy godaddy offer.

So I'd write to the address first of all, with a DMCA takedown notice.

I'd also post on their twitter account slagging them off every day: https://twitter.com/chat_sofia

On August 10, rules state:

Important Dates

The closing date for this competition is 13 Sep 2020. Winners will be announced on the 01 Jan 2020.

You may have won

My little joke ...
I think we are all agreed, this year has been far from the best.

With that in mind, we have decided on "Time Travel" as our latest competition theme.

Time Travel Competition

For this competition, we'd like our readers to be transported to another time and place.

Time travel stories usually revolve around the core concept of the contrast between how things are now, and what they were / might be in the future.

Which time period will you go back or forwards to? What are the mechanics of the process? Were your characters part of a government secret scientific experiment? Have they come from the future and can time travel at will?

Competition Theme

Will you craft a sci-fi fantasy adventure set far in the future? Encounter sex mad tentacled aliens?

Prefer something more refined of Brontë-esque Victorian flavour? How about a Neolithic romp in the Stone Age (we are guessing they would involve limited dialogue!)?

Do your characters return or decide to stay? Will their travels cause a butterfly effect and impact history in some unexpected way?

Whatever subject or genre you choose, stories need to be about one thing: time travel.

We expect stories to be a little more plot heavy for this competition, so we are setting the word count at 5,000 words.

Prizes will be paid in Lush Galactic Credits LƵ:

Winner: LƵ 150
Second Place: LƵ 100
Third Place: LƵ 50

Full competition details here >>

Hi everyone,

It was sweltering in the UK this weekend. I spent a lot of it either in the sea or local river, cooling off, with family and friends, in various doses.

This whole social distancing lark takes a lot of getting used to. Still, it's absolutely for the best right now.

Just letting you guys know our new "Time Travel" competition is up. I kind of led up to it with my intro as it's on theme - I don't think many people want to be living through the year 2020 right now: https://www.lushstories.com/competitions/time-travel.aspx

Prizes to be paid in Lush Galactic Credits (LƵ).

Yay!

Clum is hands down one of my most favourite people ever. Although not sure he'll appreciate being made out to be from Glasgow. Edinburgh might only be 45 miles away, but it's still the other side of the country, lol.

Well done, Clum. A pint of B&J's and a can of bru are on me

I think he knows I know

My mother's side of the family are from a place not far from Glasgow, and I know it's really not the done thing to mix up where anyone is from. There's a real West / East divide, as there is a North / South in England.

That's why I can get away with joking about these things. I'm half tartan blood!
The last few months have been a very testing time for many of us.

When I really needed help around the site, one person shone out above the rest.

He helped verify more than his fair share of stories, came up with some thoughtful forum posts, kept our team bouyed, and helped out enormously with site matters behind the scenes.

I consider him one of my longest-standing friends here. He's always polite, an excellent contributor to our writing community, intelligent, witty, has a brilliant mind, and is one hell of a writer.

Did I mention how handsome he looks in a kilt? He's fiercely proud of his "Scotch" () heritage and that Glasgow has been compared favourably with Las Vegas - in both places you can pay for sex with chips.

OK, I'll leave the humour to him.

Thank you so much for all your help Clum, you've gone above and beyond
