The bext thing to do is just edit it to say something like "Double post - please delete" - a friendly mod might come along and get rid of it for you.
The horror. Sorry Nic, I think it looks awful.
And just wait until you see one with an animated gif as the background. They should probably come with a PSE warning.
The little icons were obviously made for a white background so all look a bit ropey now (the FR button in particular). Callisto's profile looks terrible, Possibly's even worse.
Shit, the more I see, the more I keep thinking "MySpace"
*coughs* Proud of doing
successfully everything
Makes a good haiku
Another problem is that when you're zoomed in the overflow (the cog, the magnifying glass and the stupid kennel) end up layered over the screen. Being white on white they're pretty much invisible but it means if you tap the screen while writing a forum post or message you might be taken to the home page.
UX isn't easy and the huge explosion in the use of various mobile devices presents more challenges. It would be great if Lush had an adaptive, fluid design that worked the same across all devices but I can imagine that could be a way off given the time involved.
I think for this time, just switch it back to how it was.
It's doing the same on Chrome on the iPad.
Is anyone else here enjoying the irony of the number of posts on this thread from "Guest"?
This has happened before on profiles - I think that time it was down to rogue hot linked gifs from some dodgy website.
Switch to chrome and see if that helps
I don't know if Youtube's compression has messed with the sound but I find the music in those videos actually grates rather than relaxes. Though i'm not listening on headphones so that might have something to do with the overall effect
Not sure how you could meditate to it
Not describing the size of a girl's tits will not make your story more vague nor, for that matter, will describing them make your story any more real.
In my most recent story I spend two paragraphs describing the main character's tits - there's only about a dozen paragraphs in the whole story! I go into a lot of detail because that's what the story is about: the narrator fixates on the woman's tits - so we need a lot of detail. It needs to be that way so the reader is in no doubt that the narrator knows more about her tits than anything else about her.
Put detail where you need it but don't rely on your reader's imagination to do your story-telling for you.
First thing to enter my head?
Bizarrely, it was the George Orwell quote "At 50, everyone has the face he deserves" and I wondered if the same would be true for women's tits.
The only problem with RRs is that while the decision to award one is from an individual mod, the accountability is brought on to the mods as a collective. Any criticism for the actions of individuals just gets pointed at the system as a whole.
When the system was introduced I suggested that the RR should publicly show who it was recommended by. I know this would never be acceptable because it would cause even more problems and accusations than the present system, but any reward system that is, on the outside at least, opaque and unaccountable will tend towards creating accusations (rightly or wrongly) of favouritism and corruption.
I can fully understand how the admins and verifiers here find the "system's bent" narrative tiresome, insulting and just downright ungrateful but that doesn't mean that those on the outside of the system should take their eyes off the ball at any time or stop questioning why things happen in a certain way.
What's seen as "subjective" to one person can be "arbitrary" to another. Basing the award of an RR by the number of straight 5s it get is just daft, especially for poems. A lot of them are just sob stories about being jilted by some internet lover. Of course they attract 5s, what else are they going to get? "Hmmm, I think I'll give you 3/5 - could grieve harder"
I know many of the mods will disagree but it is my opinion that "putting yourself out there" will attract more awards. For the majority of writers the only mod who will ever see their story will be the verifier - if they don't wow her it's unlikely anyone else will read it and give the award. The more aware mods are aware of your work - be it through being on your friends list or by your presence on the site in general - the more of them are likely to read it. Each time one reads it you get another chance that someone will like it enough to click the button.
