I've only seen two episodes but "The Good Lord Bird" is already one of the best shows of the year.
It's about John Brown and has just the right amount of dark comedy. I expect Ethan Hawke to get an Emmy nom for this. It has 100% on rotten tomatoes.
I wish I had read the book first. It won the National Book Award in 2013.

I made an observation in a previous thread that reminded me of the idiom, “if looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck... it’s a duck”. And I posted a picture of an adorable little duckling and then said “hey look at this chicken”. To illustrate my point.
Then sprite continued this theme and converted it to an inside dad joke of sorts.
Then I continued to layer the joke by just acknowledging that these are indeed chicks, but they are not legal chicks.
So me and sprite are not technically brain damaged.
We were just baking a haha layer cake.

*pokes head in* Hi, everyone. It's been a while since I came here. I'm so ready for COVID-19 and the mask-wearing to be done for good! Can an essential worker have a drink as I work on several blog posts? I need to get back into my dalliance with erotica, which doesn't seem to be coming as quickly as it used to.

....or get your nose out of the judges butt. Your comparison is so dumb it defies description. A race cannot be prejudiced as to the outcome, the story competitions here can be and are.

Its been a minute since I came in here
and an even longer minute since I came in here to talk about my feelings and what not.
My emotions have been everywhere.
One minute I feel nothing, Which feels almost as bad as feeling everything but in an entirely different sort of way.
then it all changes...
Maybe its because of the state of the world currently I don't know or maybe its some other things that have more recently happened but I am struggling to see the good in anything or anyone..even in people I know are good.
Literally everywhere you look something bad is happening..
People just get worse and worse....
I'm not sure how coherent that rant of sorts actually was..
Maybe I'll feel better now

You did say the drinks were ON you.
Good evening, y'all. Weather is turning crappy as predicted. Clouded over and getting some showers. Oh, well.
A wine to relax with, please. Red.

What is the policy on using an existing narrative framework to apply the myths and legends theme? Stuff like King Arthur, Roanoke Colony, Paul Bunyan, Cthulhu Mythos (it's in the public domain) or other pagan/pseudopagan myths, such as Olympus or Valhalla?
I'm not saying that my story idea features a personified Atlantis being gangbanged by deep ones and it results in the island/city sinking, or Paul Bunyan hosting an orgy on the Cornucopia, just that I had those ideas and thought they were horrible, but am wondering on if they would be viable entries for the theme.
Edit: if you think those ideas aren't horrible and want to use them, go ahead.
