It was a long time ago. A very long time ago. Years and years. It was late on a Saturday night...or was it Friday? Then again, it may have been a Sunday morning. I was snuggled up i bed, while sitting on the sofa. The cat was smoldering slowly by the fire. It must have been winter. There was music in the background. An accordion was playing somewhere. I disticntly remember it being as I had never heard one before. It's a strange kind of music. The sort that, once heard, is hard to forget.
The storm was blowing a hooley outside, rattling the windows on the back porch. Jon boy had been meaning to fix them before the storms arrived, but for one reason or another, he ever did get around to it. I was bored.
Bored with the mundane AV. I wanted something different. Different it had to be. There were so many options. Search after search came up empty. More of the mundane, until, unexpectedly, there it was. The one. For there can be only one. I had found it..somewhere.

For anyone confused, please read the revised guidelines for the category: https://forum.lushstories.com/yaf_postst71892_Announcing-our-new-Microfiction-Category.aspx
The majority of submissions have been really good. Some, average. And of course, a few people seem to be taking the mick a bit.
We want this category to be a huge success. It will hopefully encourage new authors to write and publish here, especially those who might not feel they have an entire story in them just yet. Plus it offers up a savage challenge to existing writers.
Talking of which, it must be time for a new competition ...

If you spend your day having to remove the 3 and 4s. Why not remove scoring from competitions and judge them in the amount of comments they get. The highest comments wins?. Im not a writer but I feel if you take the time to write a story you deserve a 5. If they're are people here who purposely score stories badly and you know who they are. Can't they be stopped from writing (if they do) and scoring for a period of time. I tip my hat to anyone who has written anything here and deserve to be treated with respect. Everyone deserves respect but that's just me ?

Three writers!? That's messed up. I, like Scott, can't imagine why anyone would do this. Pretty easy to get caught, and if you didn't get caught and actually won, wouldn't it tarnish any sense of winning in your mind?
EDIT: That said, I hope ALL votes under 5 aren't being removed - but only the serial low voters who are trying to play unfairly. I usually give out 5s, but want the option to score how I feel, and think others should too.

Me, I observed: Our Sprite-unit has fallen off the 'Welcome Wagon', once again.
Let's drink to that!

Is there a minimum number of words, or just what the story requires? I ask, because I published a story once which was five words. He was an excellent writer, even at that length.

Me, I don't know nuttin' about the new Micro category, except I've been in favor of having one for some time now. If there were any announcements I've missed them completely. My befuddlement includes, but is not limited to:
1. Why launch it while a contest is still open, and
2. why 'require' a photo be included with a submission?
