I've taken a few days away for some emotional healing but Wednesday night I got an unexpected invite to spend the holiday with one of my stepdaughters. Things had been a bit rocky since her mom passed so we had a chance to really put some things to rest.

I'm trying to catch up on some reading today. I'm hoping I'll gain some inspiration to write something myself

And I’m headed out shortly for Black Friday! I found mt stooge, err, I mean my sister, to drop me off at the door while she spends an hour looking for a parking space.

Both my Lions and your Chiefs lost yesterday. ☹️☹️

Today any Black Friday shopping will be online because we will be busy putting up our new Christmas tree and decorating the mantle and buffet with new Christmas Village houses and shops. All of our Christmas decor (besides the ornaments and stockings) were destroyed in Hurricane Helene last year. We had no tree last year, no lights, no garland. No ceramic figures ice skating on a faux pond.

But the fact that over 40 years of ornaments and the stockings that had been hand-stitched with love and care have survived feels like a miracle.

Little by little normalcy is returning. Our favorite tavern finally reopened this past Tuesday. It was emotional to sit there and see the place that has sat empty for over a year packed to the gills with patrons. It was noisy, brimming with life, and we could barely hear each other. But it felt like being home.

And I suspect that's exactly how it will feel later when we admire our handiwork and see our eclectic collection of ornaments adorning a new tree.

Fair question. My garage was destroyed in Hurricane Helene last year. It's finally being rebuilt. I found out that the door itself won't be installed until after the first of the year, but there was a great deal on a garage door opener at Home Depot. Gotta strike while the iron’s hot. 😊

I'm watching America’s Thanksgiving Parade from Detroit. Hoping to see a glimpse of my sweet granddaughter, MJ and her mama in the crowd! We will head to our neighbor’s later this morning and watch the Lions hopefully win. 🥰🦁

Hugs for you, David. I was rereading an old story of mine and saw Simmie's comment, and it made me sad. She was a bright light. I'm happy to know that you aren't doing "nothing" on Thanksgiving. Set a place for Simmie and have a conversation with her in your heart. I do that sometimes with my late brother-in-law. who was my best friend for many years.

Mr. Lion, I am saying prayers that your horses are protected.

It will be different this year without any of my kids for Thanksgiving. BUT we will be enjoying dinner at a neighbor's house, and she and her husband are part of our chosen family.

I will see my kids and grandkids in 20 days. That will be magical.

Congrats David! My grand-littles are 12, 5, 3, and 1 1/2. But before my kids had kids, I was a great aunt to a plethora of kids and it always brought me joy.

Enjoying a day in Miami until we get on our cruise tomorrow. A much-needed little getaway for us. He's been working insane hours and I have been focusing on my chronic illness without much luck in getting answers. So what better way to leave all that behind than a cruise to the Bahamas? 3 days/nights without any responsibilities… heaven.

Sadly the endodontist did more CT scanning of my mouth and sinuses. He told me the tooth is NOT infected and it would be inappropriate form him to do a root canal on a tooth that doesn’t need it. So I am back to having no answers.

I’m going on cruise Friday and will worry about finding a different specialist when I get home.

In the meantime, thanks for all the good vibes. 🥰

No this cruise is an MSC cruise out of Miami. The Disney cruise is in December with the kids and grandkids.

It's just been a long ass journey and I'm so ready to be done with doctors and with thinking we found the answer only for the infection to be still taking up permanent residence in my head. 😩 Luckily I have an amazing hubby who understands what I need better than I do and he planned a cruise. Gotta love that.

Good afternoon from Alabama. Enjoying some much-needed family time with our daughter and her husband.

Just poking my head in for some Coke Zero and to say hey.

I will be having a brain scan on Monday to see if the sinus/tooth infection has spread into my brain. Tuesday I will have the root canal, Wednesday will be a temporary crown, then Thursday we will head to Miami and Friday we depart on a three-day cruise as a distraction from all this infection bullshit.

Not the same, but our dear friend moved to a facility about 2 months ago now. It’s hard to watch the guy who was supposed to be Kevin’s retirement buddy disappear little by little. We are doing our best to be there for his wife. Dinner at least once a week, helping her with things around the house, visiting her hubby, etc. but it feels like we should do more. Sighs.
