His first inkling that something wasn’t right was when she acted like his painting of her nude wasn’t as good as it could have been. He had painted Janis at least once a month for the last 20 years. There were almost two hundred completed works. A lot of canvas, but she was his muse. Everything that he wanted was embellished in her. Despite her aging, he had captured her essence in his paintings.
Janis’ laugh, her soul, and the twinkle in her eye. Even her desire was set to canvas. She was his inspiration, and he could not let himself be without her. She felt he was a little much.
When it started, way back when he first moved to France in his thirties, she was taken with him. But he had aged and, like many men, gradually lost the features that had made him moderately attractive.
But he didn’t stop finding her attractive. If she let him, he would have taken her every night. He had a member that was always ready for her. It was the only thing that he would leave to stop painting. If he had a session that was too long, Janis would suggest a little lovemaking to relax.
Now, in his late fifties, Janis would just let him paint her whenever he wanted because she was no longer tempted by the charms of her long-time partner. She could just look at her phone and read while he wiled away his time with his brushes.
He had other aspects that were agreeable. He had a good-paying position and was attentive to her worldly needs. Oh yes, he could clean and try to take care of the house. But he was no longer young, and she no longer found him someone with whom she liked to sleep or fuck.
He had not tired of his attempts to seduce her. Flowers, jewelry, and the endless kissing and then foreplay. The long, drawn-out attempts to have her feel sexual. He was nice, and that was comfortable, but she just didn’t feel like sex was attractive with him. She thought about taking a lover, but that was complicated.
The first time she saw an ad from AI Robomate-ics, Inc., LLC, she thought it was a joke. The idea of an affair with a robot seemed funny. You could choose whatever type you wanted. They had it covered. The pronunciation of the company made it clear you didn’t have to go back to the old methods with Tinder or other apps. You could have whatever you wanted. The menu was endless. A man who was muscled with a long or small cock. Her initial thought was it would be like the ugly blow-up dolls that you would see hauled out like rubber chickens with the mouth shaped like “O” for simulated oral sex and, for women, a dildo pasted on.
The first ad was just telling you what you could have. Your own mate. Someone with whom you could have witty conversations and make you laugh. Define what you like, and that new mate would become your ideal companion. A dream come true.
That was too much. Janis thought it was a type of timeshare. You could take the robomate for a while, but it would always need to go back to the company and never be her own. What would she do with her Daryl, her partner?
“Hello Daryl, this is Daryl II. He doesn’t get old and doesn’t have to paint me, but he needs to go back to the factory if I don’t pay the monthly upkeep fee,” she imagined the introduction to her real mate.
However, the next ad was different. AI Robomate-ics showed a hot-looking young woman who was so hot that you couldn’t believe it. Then it showed ‘her’ with Harvey, a paunchy white guy in his sixties with no hair, and ‘she’ was waiting on his every need. The end of the ad was the ‘woman’ cuddling up next to Harvey and whispering into his ear that it was time to have some fun. That caught her eye.
The last straw for Janis was Daryl wanting to paint her nude in the local forest. He proposed it at a place not many people frequented, but she felt that it was not appropriate and she wouldn’t give in to his fantasies any longer.
They had gone from making love almost every day to a couple of times a week, to once a month, then once every two to three months. At this moment, it might have been six months, but she wasn’t concerned. He just wasn’t that attractive to her.
She could be asexual, but she felt she was only asexual with Daryl. So, it was time to do something about it.
Working up the courage, she contacted AI Robomate-ics to visit their operation. The appointment was set for a time that Daryl would not question her absence.
The building that housed the company was ultramodern. There were no guards, and the entry was strictly guarded. No phones, but when Janis tried to enter with her watch, the voice asked her to remove it. All electronics were off limits to protect intellectual property.
Subsequent scans allowed her to enter the warm and friendly atmosphere as she was greeted by the receptionist, a beautiful blond woman, Emilie, who rose from her chair behind a desk and offered her a hand to shake. The welcome was genuine, and Janis felt they wanted an employee who would reassure the potential customers that they were concerned about their welfare.
Emilie explained that she would first watch a brief video about the company and who they were. The time would be short but informative, and if Janis had any questions, Emilie assured her that she could answer them after the video. Emilie asked if Janis would like coffee or tea or possibly a snack. If Janis needed to use the restroom, she could just go down the hallway to the right, and she would find it on the right-hand side.
The room darkened, and a screen lit up all over the wall. JM Brusque, the CEO and chair, explained his vision for the company. Finding a mate was difficult. In the modern world, it is almost impossible to identify an available individual who fits your needs. AI Robomate-ics was one of his many companies that was formed to address that societal problem. It wasn’t going to be easy, but tackling difficult things was what his companies did.
He explained that they had succeeded in constructing simulated individuals that represented real people. Those Robomates were very real, with the ability to do almost everything except eat and drink. They were equipped with a safe, nuclear energy source, so they could work for decades without needing to be recharged. The power source provided a means to heat their bodies to human body temperature, and they could sense touch. These Robomates were as functional as a real human.
Then it got a little weird. JM, on the screen, was on a first-name basis with her. He asked if Janis was sensitive about sex. He said if she didn’t want to know, then he would stop. Janis didn’t want him to stop. So, the screen JM, who called her Janis, told her to get ready. If Janis wanted a man with a functional penis, no problem, but if she would like a functional woman, that would also be possible.

That seemed a little much to believe. The video finished with a splash of colors and lights that asked Janis if she was ready to join them in the adventure of the century. Emilie returned and asked her if she had any questions. Janis was ready to ask a few questions concerning the price and availability. But her first question was about Emilie and how long she had worked for the company.
Her response took Janis by surprise. She had worked for AI Robomate-ics all her ‘life’. She explained that she was one of the Robomates. The way she talked and moved and her touch were so real that Janis was unable to discern that she was not human.
Janis decided that this possibility was too good to pass up. It was expensive, but that was something that AI Robomate-ics had addressed to make it possible to identify unusual income sources.
Janis met with the person in that department. After asking questions about potential ways to fund her purchase of Daryl II, the pictures of some of his paintings of her were shown to the departmental representative. An AI evaluation suggested that those paintings were extremely valuable, despite her thinking that they were worthless, and that AI Robomate-ics could sell them for a good profit to pay for her new mate. It was settled. Janis would provide the company with one hundred paintings, and she would have Daryl II.
Janis’ heart fluttered. No more being painted, no interruption of her calm with pestering about making love. She could live with that. She would have Daryl II with washboard abs and excellent technique. All she had to do was ask Daryl I for one hundred paintings, and that would do it.
Her critique of his latest work was a little much for him to handle. He put himself into each stroke, and it was her, set to canvas throughout their life together. She had never really told him that they were good or bad, but that they were not worth much. In contrast, Janis told him that she thought some of them might have value, and she should see what others thought about them by trying to sell them.
Janis told him that she wanted to take one hundred of them and try to sell them to see if there was a market for what he had produced. He was not thinking about selling them; he never had. The work and their representation of Janis captured his idea of her. It was inconceivable to part with them. Maybe when he died.
However, Janis felt he was being petty. She needed one hundred but would try to get one hundred fifty. If they were worth that much to pay for her Daryl II, maybe she could have a nice retirement cushion and Daryl II to bring her perfectly mixed drinks whenever she wanted. With a good dose of Daryl II dick when desired.
Separations are rarely pretty. The reasons are often not clear. In this case, Janis wanting to take Daryl's paintings was what caused the rupture. Daryl was devastated. He didn’t know how to take it. Janis didn’t ask for a great portion of his monetary net worth; she only wanted a little of that, but she wanted one hundred fifty of his prized paintings. He had created them not to sell, but to preserve his memories of Janis. It broke his heart, but he had no choice but to give them to her. The court order was specific and would not take monetary compensation for the paintings.
Janis had her separation and the paintings. Daryl gave her the house and took his remaining paintings.
Life was not the same for Daryl afterwards. He stopped painting and lived his life as a recluse. He regularly looked at his works of Janis and thought about the wonderful life she had given him and how beautiful she was. He confronted the fact that his muse was not exactly what he had imagined, but he still loved her.
For Janis, Daryl II arrived new and hot, as Janis had wanted. She was all excited about him. He had a full head of hair, fantastic abdominal muscles, and even a nice-sized penis. She had waited for his arrival for months.
Daryl I met Daryl II only once when he recovered fifty-odd paintings. Daryl II answered the door, and Daryl I had no idea he was a Robomate. Janis introduced Daryl II as coincidentally having the same name as Daryl. They chatted briefly; Daryl took his paintings and left looking dejected.
Daryl II was a dream. He did everything she wanted and had no pesky painting sessions with her. It was so different. The first time she ‘made love’ with Daryl II was amazing.
It had been a while since she had made love with Daryl I, and she was feeling horny. All she had to do was ask him to fuck her, and his erection was there. No need for the preliminary kissing and performing fellatio, which she hated. She asked him to suck her nipples, and he submitted. She requested he perform cunnilingus, and what a dedicated ‘man’, even though cunnilingus was not her thing. She asked Daryl II to fuck her with his big roborod, and he complied willingly. It was great; his robocock was fantastic. He only orgasmed when and where she requested it. AI Robomate-ics had special ways to produce simulated sperm and ejaculations. Daryl II was everything that she wanted.
Nonetheless, as time went by, Daryl II became boring. He was perfect. The conversations, the cleaning, and the sex were all done with precision. Every time the sex was the same, with slight changes to appear non-robotic, but she knew there was no real spontaneity.
Daryl II was always positive with respect to her ideas. He never contradicted a suggestion, even when she proposed to eliminate the neighbor’s dog by drowning him in the pool. She caught him carrying the dog to the pool.
She missed the errors that Daryl I did and the way that he spent his time with her. He was far from perfect, but Janis realized that Daryl I loved her and that the paintings she had turned over to pay for Daryl II were his and her soul on canvas. The paintings were something she had thought worthless, but AI Robomate-ics made a windfall profit the year Daryl I’s paintings slowly began to appear on the market. Janis took some time to realize that she had sold a fortune just to have a cheap copy of Daryl and lost humanity in the process.
