Everywhere I look there are images of you

Lying scattered over my possessions - they no longer feel like mine

You litter every thought with every single thing you touched

Your essence spread over minute details that bring a whole other world crashing down

Your face launched a thousand ships

But you sent back every one

Only mine was allowed through the blockade

Thunder rumbles in the distance as the gods of old hear my crimes

Though no prison can hold me for my sentence – the rest of time

Immortal bonds bind me tight

And never again will I see the light

I succumbed to the pleasure another brought

And she stole my secrets and left me fraught

Then in you walked as an angel on high

And all I saw - your heart break and you cry

I thought nothing of it, though tears came to my eyes

As I returned to her breast with heavy sighs

Another night as my name left her lips

My fingers lower between her hips

A second lover, then a third, a fourth

Adding to my ever growing throng

Knowing exactly what was wrong

And still I carried on and on

The final night when I felt your wrath

You dressed as a potential lover

Though I’m not sure what blew your cover

But you pushed me to my knees and showed restraint I didn’t

Now I work a barren field forevermore

No reward to be reaped from my toil

Hands permanently covered in dry soil

As you watch with your love by your side

I stay hungry as you lunch on cheese and wine

Never satisfied by the water and morsel of bread you give

What more do I deserve, the cheat that I am?
