Shining Youth, Glowing Age

Shining Youth, Glowing Age

We were young and merged in oneness,
We are old but we're not sunless.
Hearts still youthful, faithful, moving
Always active, always roving.
We're still loving, we're still giving
Ever thoughtful, ever living
This is just the start of striving
This is not the last of thriving.

Lives still fresh with hope abiding,
Lives still sweet with wings for gliding,
Flying over, worlds below us,
Never letting fears exist, thus
Never giving pain and hardship
Any entry to our life trip,
For we always knew that someday
There would be a shining new way.

Youth is wasted on the young ones
Spring may be the best of seasons.
Those who still rejoice in gaining,
Miss true beauty, so explaining
Why it must take love to see that
Life will glow if never scoffed at.
We regret just one thing only,
That we left a loved one lonely.

That was when the light was glowing,
That was when she still was knowing.
Now the dimness flows above us,
Covering, it means to try us.
Mine is not to let her lose out
As we fight this final life bout.
Love will ever light our battle,
Darkness tries to test our mettle.

Over head a bird still hovers
Proving how this world loves lovers.
Nature owns the whole of this world
And we strike at hatred unfurled.
As we fight and rally forces
Never doubting what the source is.
Never doubting darkness must lose
Always sure our love we will choose.

So our lips are gently kissing,
But the ardor may be missing.
Never think that I regretted
Never was she less indebted.
Love is beauty, love is shining,
Love is glowing, love enshrining.
We were young and merged in oneness.
We are old but still not sunless.
