Speaking of obscure garage rock, here's 90s Canadian lo-fi band Eric's Trip covering another 60s garage rock band (On the Road South by The Stereo Shoestring), which itself is a cover of parts of the song Defecting Grey by the Pretty things.

Don't believe everything that you read.

I love this cover of 21st Century Schizoid Man (originally by King Crimson). The Japanese accent is perfect for this song.

Okay, one more and then I'm done (for now).

This one's a jazz band from Israel covering Killing in the Name by Rage Against the Machine

Don't believe everything that you read.

Never knew Stevie Wonder was in Steppenwolf

He was a member of Steppenwolf but you just couldn't see him ... or was it the other way around.

Not sure what it is about that song but I've made that mistake before and not learnt from it it seems.
Some covers are good but some are just plain horrid. Like no don't ruin it--no no-too late.

Winterlong - The Pixies (orig. Neil Young)

I'll see your Pixies covering Neil Young, and raise you them covering Leonard Cohen (may he rest in peace):

Love 'em generally. I especially love Kings of Leon's cover of 'Dancing on my Own' (originally by Robyn). That recent cover of the song that came out last year and got hugely popular was absolute crap though. I love Radio 1's Live Lounge. Some of the covers that come out of there make me SO happy.
Shoegaze band Brief Candles covering A Flock of Seagulls' Space Age Love Song

Don't believe everything that you read.

Been a huge fan of this song since I watched "So I Married an Axe Murderer" back in the mid-90s. Original by the Bay City Rollers wasn't bad, but this reminds me of my cider-drinking, sofa-surfing, wastrel teenage years...

i remember when i learned this was an actual song and not just the wonder years' theme. i was astonished when i discovered it was a cover of the beatles.

(i SO wanted to post the vid of the john belushi impersonation! perhaps for another thread...)

one of my favorite lullabies. you can't speak enough of the various covers of this song. i was originally introduced to it by way of ella fitzgerald. i believe this was a natural fit for amy.
