Quote by trinketOK miss Trinket, You asked for this, don't blame me if it puts you off boobs for life!
Thank you for your submission Frank but if I was to take a guess I would bet everything I own that those aren't your boobs. They are still worth a dollar though. P.s. I reiterate, I am not a closet lesbian.

Okay, I have struggled with this for my own personal reasons, but if other ladies and gentlemen can be brave, then here you go.

This is something I hold near and dear to me. My Granny is a Breast Cancer survivor, two years now. My Granny has also within those two years been diagnosed with dementia. Last week at a check-up they found a spot in her other breast. This is struggle that is hitting us again and one that as a dementia patient will be hitting her over and over again as she is constantly reminded why she is being poked and prodded.

Current $$$ raised for BCRF is approximately AU $1,100
We have over 10,000 views. An amount I never thought we would hit. No matter what reasons readers have for coming to the thread, it still gives them some food for thought that might inspire them to pay more attention to their bodies and notice when changes occur.
Another thank you to those who have posted on the thread, not only their personal photos but their personal and family stories, advice, and donations to the fund.
The donations given are fantastic. More than I'd hoped for. It's not about donating and not telling anybody you've done it for reasons of seeking attention or kudos, it's about donating and shouting it out. It might inspire others to do the same thing.
Sure, I or anyone could have donated a few hundred bucks and not said a word but that wouldn't create AWARENESS. Awareness is the number one step in winning the fight.
Not everyone can donate money. What they can do is help get the message across to women and men. That's what all of you are doing and you're doing an excellent job of it.
Shall we get on with it and keep spreading the word? We still have weeks until this closes.
FIGHT LIKE A GIRL.

I want this t-shirt. I want to wear it to my appointment for the mammogram/ultrasound/biopsy of the mass found yesterday.
ETA: The only thing I ever catch in my cleavage is hot brass--the cartridge casings ejected while shooting. I shoot left, most shooters shoot right, so most handguns are designed to eject the hot brass right, away from the shooter. Not so much when you're a lefty shooter. I'd think that catching candy and....what did SJ say those were? Chicken nuggets? in one's cleavage might be less uncomfortable, if more of an indication of one's inability to find one's own mouth.

I wasn't going to share this story on this thread but so many people have already I feel that I should too. As we've already said about breast cancer and other types of cancers, the main thing is to notice any changes in your body and get them checked. Not just lumps. Any persistent rashes, scaly bits of skin, change in toilet habits, lingering coughs, heavy bleeding, ANYTHING. Don't assume it's nothing.
I'd had some very heavy bleeding during my period for about a year. I'd been to the doctor twice. The first time he said "oh you've just got bad luck" and sent me on my way. Seriously that's what he said. Of course I went to another doctor who referred me to a gynochologist for further examination. A
During a laparoscopy he discovered I had uterine Complex Hyperplasia with Atypia. Aka. Changed lining of my uterus. Not cancer but most likely to take the next step to become cancer. Mine was very advanced so he said that In his medical opinion I should have a hysterectomy as soon as possible. I was 20 years old. I'd had no children and was about to get married. I really had no choice but to have it done.
Just prior to this my mother had lost one breast to Cancer. She was only 40 years old. I told my specialist this. That changed everything. He explained a few things to me and asked me to think very seriously about having a test to find out if I had any of the BRCA gene mutations. This can be passed down from either parent. I have BRCA1 mutation. It gives me 65% higher chance of developing breast, ovarian or many other types of cancers. My mother was tested and she has it also.
Consequently at age 20 I was faced with an enormous emotional load to bear. Not only was I having a hysterectomy, I was going to lose EVERYTHING in there. Including my ovaries. That was my choice though. I could have opted to keep my ovaries but I decided I didn't want to take that chance. I have some eggs in storage but the longer they are stored, the less viable they become. I've pretty much Accepted I won't have any children but it took me a long time to get to that point.
The point to this "yet another long winded post by Trinket" IS that if I had not gone for the second opinion about the bleeding g, I might not be here right now. I wrote to that first doctor about what happened after I saw him, hoping he might think about what he had done. I never got a reply.
That's why I do this. I'm at a higher risk for breast Cancer. It's not a completely selfish gesture though, I do hope it helps save others.
