In grad school I was playing in U's orchestra to keep my sanity as intact as possible. My musician friends (not much overlap between MolBiol and Music, even if they're adjacent in the U's catalog) decided there was a conducting grad student I had to meet. I didn't know the guy, so they set us up on a date. He turned out to be about 5'3, while your correspondent pushes hard on 6'. We met a club away from town with a dance floor (dancing and booze go together in Kansas, y'know?).
We had dinner, we talked. The conversation was fine. Then he wanted to dance, but I don't dance. He finally convinced me to get on the floor with him. It was a two-step or some such nonsense. I stepped all over his feet, while his chin tried be friendly with my tits (I was wearing 2" heels). The music ended and I asked to go back to our table. He was scoping the dance floor looking for (competent, I assume) dance partners. I finally got tired of it and asked him to take me back to campus.
My personal rule on blind dates is that I'll go only if the friends trying to get me together with the guy do it as a double date.
How about this?
You and your wife can have at KateBeckinsale and I can have Henry " THE HUNK" Cavill??
I know that this is in ask the girls but I'd like to share my best and worst blind dates.
First one I was nineteen and my best friend was dating a girl and after meeting me she announced that I would be a perfect match for her best friend. Boy oh Boy was she ever right. We hit if off from hello and we had a summer of love and great sex that I'm still trying to match... Wonderful!
Then about 2 years later an old high school buddy told me the only way a certain girl would go out with him was on a double date and would I please date her friend. Holy crap... I ended up in her apartment after the date and we had so so sex and shortly after that she announced that she was a witch and that I could never leave her. I headed for the door and she said she was casting a spell on me if I went out the door. Crazy bitch! Sure enough I was plagued by bad luck for several months after that and she stalked me including crashing a party I was at and threatening my date with a spell if she didn't get away from me. My date freaked out and never would see me again. LOL
Great minds think alike but dirty minds work together.... ;)
One of most memorable events of my life was a blind date. I just came home from hospital recovering from my wounds in the war. All my friends were trying to set me up because I had no significant other in my life. Then one of my buddies shows me a picture of a girl so gorgeous I couldn't believe it to be true. He said he showed her my pic and she told him to tell me to call. Which I did. Her voice was as sexy as her picture.
We talked for over a half hour and decided on a movie and dinner date. I wanted to impress her with my car so I had my red XKE detailed and even bought new slacks for the occasion.
Dinner was fabulous and the convo was not strained in the least. Then off to the movies. It went to shit after that. I pulled up to curb in front of the theater and went around to help her out. The Jag was low and curb was high. Her foot slipped and wedged between curb and car. She broke her ankle. I put her back in car (bad decision) and drove her to hospital with her crying in pain.
Then the emergency attendants get her out and wheeled her into the emergency room. I gave them a statement of what happened. And she gave them her insurance card. I'm sitting in the waiting room and a nurse brought me a clipboard to sign. Looking at paper work, it has her down as Brenda (she told me Patricia) and me as mike (I'm Chuck) last name Decker. I told the nurse I wasn't this person. The paperwork must be wrong. I continue to wait for a few more hours. Then I am approached by this huge guy at least six five, sporting an angry face. He asked me my name and I tell him. Then, he hauls off a punches me (hard) sending me tumbling to the floor. I stay there. He screams at me cursing every other word. It ends up this was Mike and she was separated from him, but not divorced.
My last blind date. Ever!
Someone set me up on a blind date as part of a double date. The girl was very good looking. My date drank too much and wasn't used to it. She wanted to make out and when we were kissing she kind of heaved. Before I could move, she vomited all over me. After I took my shirt off and washed it out, she wanted to start making out again and more. By that time I just wanted to take her home and leave. I certainly didn't want to kiss 'vomit breath'. She ended up taking her blouse and bra off while I was asking her to leave them on. I finally got her to put them back on. The other couple was driving, so I had to find them and get them to take her home first and then drop me off.
My 'date', later told people that I got too aggressive and took her top off. That was a damn lie. She later apologized to me for saying that and then had the nerve to ask me out on another date. No. No. No. I don't care how good she looked, that was not going to happen.
