How many of you, actually look at the PROFILE of the person you're asking to be friends with?

I very seldom ask anyone, but when they ask me, I read over their profiles very carefully before accepting a friend-request.
Ale at read before asking otherwise just feel foolish if the person has no interest or has stated please do not send any friend or chat requests!! Gotta respect everyone it's the fair honest way
I always read over a profile and if they are an author, I read some of their work. Most of the 'friends' I have here I try to connect with. I am opinionated so we are not always in agreement but I try to articulate my reasoning in civil discourse.

I have made many friends here and really like this community.
I only friend request if we've had a few encounters and exchanged witty banter haha. I always look at peoples bios.
yes always read the profile to get an idea on what the person is like plus if they have bothered to write a profile only fair i read it
Always read profiles.. if I am being asked to friend or if I am asking to be friended... I also read them while chatting in the Chat Rooms or even if commenting on or just liking a Forum post.
i always read them and then invariably decide not to request a friendship!

but hey that is probably why I lack friends on here

I look at all of them, and I also look at the friends they have. Actually, that tells you more about them than their bio can. Drama attracts drama, and if you have a history of that here, I dont have time for that shit. If they blog everyday about an upcoming story, or go overboard with shameless self promotion, or just crap on in general, its a lightning fast thanks, but no thanks. I just dont need to look at that when I sign in. Attention whoring is my biggest pet peeve. I know that may seem harsh considering this is a story site, but if I want to read something, I will, in my own time. I usually like to at least talk to people, usually via the chat rooms, and occasionally via PM, before I add. I guess I just like normal, intelligent people. Am I asking too much?
I always read bios first. What's the point of being friends with a person unless you share interests?
Always
Always. It's one of the best parts of the experience. Discovery! Like meeting a pretty girl at a party and wanting to know her better.
Doesn't everyone? Maybe some people send out so many that they get their friends all mixed up, or they're just trying to make conversation by asking the basic questions?

I haven't sent a request in eons, but if I did I'd certainly check out the profile!
always, i think it better to know something about the person and if you have anything in common.
Nope .. bloody waste of time .. its all crap on there anyway.

I've not read through all the answers here but has anyone actually answered 'no?'
I'm guessing for those that genuinely don't read profiles that they probably wouldn't take the time to comment on a forum post either.
Secondly, for those that don't - would they really admit to it...?

I answered no....well I answered 'eventually'.

I don't put too much stock into the whole friend request thing. If I wanna get to know someone, I make an effort do so. And I assume the same thing in reverse. There's nothing special about me or my profile that someone wouldn't know if they weren't on my friends list, so I accept just about any friend request. The exception is if I've previously encountered someone that irritated me, then I won't accept their friend request if they send me one.

In regards to the whole 'eventually' thing, I make a mental note to look at the profile of the person I add, but I don't do so right away. And there are many cases where I'll read a profile that creeps me out, so I just delete them.

So just because I blindly accept a friend request doesn't mean they stay on my friend's list.

Overall, the whole friend request thing isn't a big deal to me.

I check to see if they have online boyfriends now because usually the online boyfriend has some kind of cringeworthy gripe about something or other.
I look at them to see how active they are, what they're into, how prolific they are, and if we have anything in common to be worth becoming friends.
Yep, I always check the profile, look at the pics, read the bio, and if I like what I see, I add smile
I check the sproile without exemption - a pity so many are liars
I usually request an add after talking with someone first. Those times I've added without checking out their page have led to some interesting experiences afterward. Usually leading me to not only drop them but blocking them out so they don't stalk me.

Yeah, what's the point if you have nothing in common.
Yes, not only the bio on the profile, but how often they read and comment, participate in the forums, etc. check number of friends (hundreds tell me they really aren't interested in me), in other words there are a lot of things you can tell from their profile page.
