Damn it. I begged him to say it. Please say it. As they sat in the car at the end, I pleaded with him to say it.
And then he said it and it gave me the biggest smile. Unless you've seen this movie, you won't know what
I'm talking about. It reminded me of an Eddie Murphy's stand up routine about race & horror flicks.

This movie was fucking CREEE-PY. I sat quietly for about 15 minutes after watching this, putting all the pieces
together. Damn. Yes, there are some serious gaps in logic and logistics, but this was a fun, creepy, scary,
racially uncomfortable movie to watch. I'm not going to say this is the best horror/creepy movie I've seen,
but it could be one of the most entertaining.

If you have seen this, or if you plan to, after having done so, watch Everything Wrong With Get Out. I've added
the link below. It will confirm some things, remind you of others, and connect all the dots. Plus, the guy narrating
it is hilarious. Caution: There are spoilers in this, obviously, so watch the movie first. Fun. Fun. Fun.

I just watched this last night and have to agree with you. It was very very creepy. It didn't go where I expected it to either. Thanks for the link. Now I need to go back and watch it again to see if I catch more things. I think I'll wait until another day though. I need to find some holiday happy stuff to watch now.

Oh, most definitely watch the YouTube link. It's 15 minutes of 'oh yahs!!!' and 'I knew it!' and stuff like that.
But there were a few other, 'Oh Shit! Right. I missed that' moments too.

Plus, the dude narrating it is funny. That damn car mirror pissed me off. How did they miss that??? LOL
Well, the Last Jedi is out and I haven't even seen The Force Awakens yet. *sighs* So, if I can manage to watch TFA on Netflix this weekend, then maybe The Last Jedi. I'm not hopeful, though.

Jack Frost. I could live without seeing it again. I want to see The Last Jedi; we're going next week, hopefully.

Jack Frost is one of the creepiest kid's movies I've ever seen. Right up there with the deeply disturbing Polar Express, which not only has that creepy "uncanny valley" realistic animation, but the elf celebration at the end looks like a frikkin Nazi rally designed by Albert Speer. Everyone exhorting you to "believe," or else. What if I don't wanna "believe"?

Hi KK smile

We'll see Star Wars during the week, probably.

Are we talking about the same Jack Frost? With Michael Keaton as the dad who dies and comes back as the snowman? I think it's pretty sweet. My kids enjoyed it, for obvious reasons. No way in hell and I ever watching Polar Express, it looks as bad as you described lol.

I plan to see Star Wars in the week too, Kids break up Tuesday, so after that.

Not to ruin it for you, but...Darth Vader is like Skywalkers father

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

Dear God, that ceased to be a spoiler when I was in high school.dGF62bKpJUwoUYLZ

Sigh, I actually remember when I first heard that revelation. Yes, I knew it before I saw the movie. We didn't fuss about spoilers as much in those days, though.

Yes, I'm that old. Deal with it.
Thank you insomnia. Woke in the middle of the night and The Great Wall had just started.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!

Matt Damon is totally miscast. Willem Dafoe is embarrassingly underused. The story seems to have stolen plot themes
from so many movies, including The Last Samurai's 'mygot' actor (I think) and his character. And what about those stupid
monsters. Really? Every 60 years? You have gun powder FFS. It was stylish and colourful, but holy crap. Come on!!!

This one seems like a cross between Aliens and X-Files. Annihilation with Natalie Portman. I hope it's good.

The novels (the Southern Reach trilogy by Jeff VanderMeer) come with a good rep but I am already hearing concern from fans of the books that the movie may be taking too many liberties. I started reading Annihilation but didn't get very far, more a reflection of my mood at the time than the novel. Now that the movie is looming, the library's copies are getting hard to get and I'm not dropping money for a novel that I'm not sure I'll like so I have not gone back.
Now I have Netflix I watched 'Avengers Assemble' today... not at all impressed. I wont bother with the other ones.

We shall keep our fingers crossed. However, Hollywood doesn't a great track record with books to movies. Here's to hoping!
I was able to get out and saw Call Me By Your Name

A coming-of-age drama film directed by Luca Guadagnino and written by James Ivory, based on the 2007 novel of the same name by André Aciman. Takes place in 1983 in northern Italy. The story is layered; a number of relationships dance along, some in time, others not so much. The cinematography is wonderful as it portrays an unspoken dialogue with some scenes slightly out of focus yet always in a colour and view-point that is very 1980's.

Cast of Arnie Hammer, Timothee Chalamet, Michael Stuhlbarg and Amira Casar.

I thought it was wonderful and very fluid story (could have been a love between either gender and orientation or age). I think this will garner a few Oscar nominations.

Wonder looks really good ...

Ciao
There are times she is kneeling out of obedience, reverence and respect. Those are the times it is okay to stand above her. But when she is kneeling because the weight of the world is just too heavy to bear … that is when You should be kneeling beside her.

I think I'd like to see that movie Wonder but I haven't been to the movies in so long I don't even know what's out there anymore but yeah Wonder would be a good movie to see thanks Gabe for suggesting it
The last really terrific movie I saw in a theater was Dunkirk. This afternoon, my son and I are going to the 3-D IMAX theater to see The Last Jedi.
I thought The Last Jedi was a little long, but well done. On the Criticker scale, I rated it at 85 out of 100. Others I gave the same rating to include 127 Hours, August: Osage County, Carol and Glory Road.
Dunkirk - it was good, but disjointed. I really didn't know what to expect, and was unpleasantly let down. Good history lesson though. I did not know this.

Donnie Darko - well, I think people either like/love it or they hate it. I fall into the former category.

The acting is superb in this one. Timing of its release in relation to 9/11, some say, played a major role in it not being more widely viewed.
Honestly, you need Cole's Notes to follow this one. It is that layered and in-depth. That is probably a major reason why so many enjoy this
flick.

If you have not yet seen this movie, do NOT read the attached explanation. If you have seen Donnie Darko,
I found this to be one of the funniest, less technical, but all around best explanations of the movie. Enjoy!!!

Still waiting to see Ferdinand and Star Wars... coming soon...

And I can't believe I still haven't seen Blade Runner 2049. Damn it. I was prepped for it and everything. Then, it was pulled
from theaters to make room for other movies, then brought back, then removed once again. I see it is at a nostalgic place
here, so I'm going next weekend. It needs to be seen on the big screen, so I've been told.
I just watched Ever After with Drew Barrymore so I could see Jeanne Moreau one more time.
She passed away this year. One of the greats of the film world.

Star Wars - The Last Jedi. Huge fucking disappointment. Too long. Too melodramatic, although that's kind of its thing. Dumb, repeatable plot.
The only two good things were sense-around theater (loved feeling the floor shake) & 3D glasses (loved seeing the space battles in 3D), and
the surprise, which I won't spoil for anyone. I didn't see it coming and glad I didn't. But, I am done with this Jump-The-Shark series.

Memento. I never caught this one first time around. I'm not glad I saw it this time. Many have raved how amazing this mystery murder thriller
was, and waxed poetic about the unique story telling process. Yes, it was unique. However, I found it to be way too contrived. Annoyingly so. But sadly,
and I really didn't know this until this movie, I do not like Guy Pierce. Who wouldn't want his body & good looks? But hard pass on him, his voice, and
his acting, at least, in this movie. The movie was stylish, and I do give credit where credit is due. Christopher Nolan took a chance and it worked for many.

Really, REALLY looking forward to Paddington 2.

Finally saw Blade Runner 2049. Overall, I'm really glad I saw it. I was pumped and worried I'd be let down
due to my higher expectations. It was moody, retained a lot of the flavor and feel of the first one, but I did
find the movie dragged. However, it is one of those movies that looks so darn good on the big screen. And,
it had a pretty good story line too. Wonderful sequel.

***

I wanted to wait until I saw Blade Runner before I commented on my favorite movies in 2017.

1. Atomic Blonde
2. Trainspotting 2
3. The Lego Batman Movie
4. Donnie Darko - yes, I know it's an older movie, but I recently saw it for the first time

Honorable mention goes to Coco.
Saw -- Justice League

Want to see -- The Commuter

Professor Marston and The Wonder Women is the true account of the creator of the Wonder Woman character. After the success of Wonder Woman I would have thought this film would have garnered a bit more press but it pretty much flew under the radar.

Marston was a professor of psychology at Harvard in the 1920s who entered into a polyamorous relationship with his wife and his teaching assistant. He had a strong interest in BDSM especially female domination which led to his creation of Wonder Woman. His early comics had strong BDSM overtones and often portrayed Wonder Woman as a sort of female dominatrix character.

After Marston died in 1947, Wonder woman comics were burned and the character was stripped of her powers and in the 60s she became a secretary for the Justice League.

Marston's wife and girlfriend continued to live in a lesbian relationship for 38 more years, raising the children that he sired by both of them.

It's a very interesting story, although the movie seems a bit rushed because it has to cover so much time. Definitely worth the view.

My favorite thing about WW becoming popular again was this... I thought, "I really want to see the docs/period pieces about Martson's obsession with hot fit chicks tying people up and getting tied up himself". The lasso of truth... Because you know in that moment, trusting that person who tied you up, the full truth, is pure BDSM. The guy's stories were illustrated erotica masquerading as funny books.
Murder on the Orient express was good. The cinematography was amazing as was the costuming. The film itself was good. Not great, but good.
