All the Money In The World.

Probably the best movie I've seen so far this year... (I know that it officially came out in 2017 but it was released to limited audiences only to qualify it for awards season.)

If you've heard about it, it was probably due to the fact that Kevin Spacey originally starred in it, but they had to cut him out after the whole (Kevin Spacey is a creepy thing came out). They replaced him with Christopher Plummer and had to pretty much re-shoot the whole movie. More controversy arose when Mark Wahlberg was paid more for the re-shoots than Michelle Williams, inciting more of the whole #metoo rhetoric.

All that political bullshit aside...this is a great story and a pretty damn good movie. When Plummer was nominated for a Golden Globe, I thought it was just service to appease the current political climate. But I was wrong. He's sooo good in this role. You will not see a better actor portray such an unlikable character.

And he's soooo unlikable.

John Paul Getty was the richest man in the history of the Earth. When his grandson was kidnapped in the early 1970s he refused to pay any ransom. This was a guy that was making more per day off interest than he could ever spend in his entire life. (Side note: he found ways to not pay any taxes). Yet he still had a coin operated pay phone in his house that he made visitors use.

Surprisingly though, even though this movie came out recently, FX just came out with a TV series that tells the same story...

I'm a big fan of miniseries because it allows a complex story to be told over an 8-10 hour period. I've watched the first episode of this series and it's pretty good. The TV series stars Donald Sutherland (I guess the requirement for playing JP Getty is being a cantankerous old Canadian actor) Hillary Swank and Brendan Fraser. I'll reserve my judgement which is better until after I see at least 6 episodes of the mini series.

Both are in the upper echelon of modern entertainment so I suggest both. Like I said, the Movie is the best I've see this year so far.
Last watched: The Abyss.

Wish to see: Probably another alien movie.
Saw...The Commuter...Was great...

Going to see...Susters -- Afrikaans movie...
Girl on a train, outstanding!
Saw - In The Heat Of The Night - a favourite so iconic it probably helped change the law in the U.S.

Want to see - The Untouchables.
Ready Player One- enjoyed it.
Black Panther was entertaining but Red Sparrow was great. Really enjoyed it
Miss Sinn is in......
Just got the MoviePass app on the advice of a friend. If it works as he says, I'll be catching up on a shit ton of movies. The ones released I still need to see are:

Ready Player One
A Quiet Place
Isle of Dogs (I'm a massive Wes Anderson honk)
Death of Stalin
Who has seen READY PLAYER ONE?

Was the film as great as the book?

I need an honest opinion from a film lover.

Thankyou.
Long list of movies I want to see
Top of the list of ones i want to see are :
Winchester
Chappaquiddick (just cause im a huge fan of the Kennedy history )
But recently saw Flatliners the 2017 version
A Quiet Place is a damn solid film. One of the more legitimately intense quasi-horror/suspense films I’ve seen in a while. It’s simple but brilliantly acted. And it has Emily Blunt who is simply ravishing.

Also. Had no idea John Krasinski was this talented across the board.

Highly recommended. 8.5/10

As an aside. Few things make me wanna best whole sale ass like people talking during films. Especially a film like this that demands it when 80% of it is in sign language. Teenagers need a dedicated theater where adults don’t have to deal with their shit. No it’s not amusing your fat ass friend did something stupid and can’t stop laughing like a moronic dipshit.

Okay. Rant over.

Also.

Get MoviePass.
I had the misfortune to sit through Hurricane Heist...luckily it was on Sky TV and not at the cinema.

My most enjoyable film this year was Red Sparrow. Went with an open mind and was very pleasantly surprised.
Wish to see: Won't You Be My Neighbor?
We're currently watching Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2. If we can get my three-year-old to bed, we'll hopefully be able to finish it tonight.

I want to see Blockers
My latest story is a racy little piece about what happens when someone cute from work invites you over to watch Netflix and Chill.
Watched Annihilation on NetFlix last night. It was okay - good idea, but a bit slow. Entertaining enough, though and Natalie Portman is very watchable
I just got home from watching A Quiet Place and I thought it was a really great movie.

I have a new story out! Wish You Were Here A teasing sub may I have pushed too far, but the punishment is oh so sweet.

If you haven't already, please check out my story with leftlingula. A husband and wife rediscovered each other and It all started with one simple word...
Nightshade Part 1 & Nightshade: Part 2

I saw A Quiet Place and really enjoyed it. Smart, original, scary sci-fi. Very little dialogue, and it doesn't shy away from meditating on grief. You don't see a lot of big budget movies take chances like that these days.
This wasn't bad, probably more enjoyable if you have a slight buzz.

Cinemax, this month. Noomi Rapace & Peter Stormare

The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.

Latest was War for the Planet of the Apes. I'm taking the kids to see Infinity Wars tonight, so excited.

I’m EXTREMELY jealous... we have to wait till tomorrow night to watch Avengers Infinity Wars ☹️☹️

Infinity War got me wired. Definitely the new best Marvel villain. Brolin crushed it as Thanos.

9/10

I just just watched it this afternoon. I loved it. Even though I hate seeing movies in theaters. Thanos is definitely the best villain so far. I loved the original Infinity gauntlet comic. from 1991. This was almost as good.

I hate going to the theatre but I made the effort to go the this one.

I gave it a n 8.5/10. I thought they underused the Hulk. Everything else was gold. It was like the Empire Strikes Back of the MCU.

Us nerds should probably start our out Infinity war thread.... there's lots of goodies to discuss.

Dx
Saw Infinity War.

Josh Brolin as space Debo was surprisingly good. Liked the Iron Man, Dr. Strange, Thor and Guardians sections the most. The Guardians sections were genuinely funny and they were the most effective as a team. Ebony Maw was better as a henchman than most superhero villains.

If I had to nitpick the movie I would say it was silly as fuck to have super powered heroes like vision and scarlet witch get defeated by villains that human characters like black widow can handle afterwards. Also, wakandans with spears (SPEARS) and clubs (CLUBS) fighting super powered aliens like nothing while super powerd beings are struggling. Makes no sense. That's about it though. The only thing that took me out of the movie for a bit was people with spears n shit fighting along the earths greatest heroes. Dumb as fuck.

If you’re familiar with the Black Panther comics (I’m not, I just researched a bit before the movie) The Dora Milaje, his personal guard, are total badasses. Can’t speak for the other tribes holding their own but I imagine many had vibranium accessories for this battle.
tickets for Infinity War tonight. excited!

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.
