I think REAL HISTORICAL INDIVIDUALS could be MENTIONED in the story but perhaps NOT THE SUBJECT of the story.

This. they can be part of the story, but the story shouldn't be about them.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

Because that crosses the line into Fantastic Fiction.

Wild Child. 2025. Dani is now 20 years old.

I too, would like clarification on this. It's a sticky point, but if it turns out no figure can be used, it should be easy enough to change the name. That's what James Clavell did in Shogun. Tokugawa was changed to Toranaga, but anyone who knew Japanese history could see who he was meant to be.

I'd like to see this figured out too. Not only for the competition, but just in general. It should be put in the little bio thing under the genre tab if it is okay or not. It makes it a whole lot easier for people to see. Just my thoughts.

I'm pretty sure you can write about historical figures in the historical category. Rachel and Steph are just being like cranky old men who tell you to turn your garshdanged music down!

There seems to be a whole lot of confusion and not actual serious answers being given. It probably explains why so few people have entered the competition thus far.

i'm sorry, but i had thought i'd made it clear. you can include historical figures in your story, as long as they are merely secondary to the setting and not the focus of the story, nor involved in sexual antics. the main characters must all be fictional. historical infers to the SETTING. does that help clear things up?

Me, I got a question. Best I recall, once upon a time, there was a ten vote rule for a story to be considered in a competition. I'd like to know if that's still the case. If so, I'll need to get an early start on pinping, whoring, and begging for votes for my yet-to-be-posted, Vietnam-era entry.
(Hey, don't blame me if I'm so old I've lived through several historical periods.)
