Ah, yes. That gooey romantic holiday filled with love and Hallmark cards. My favorite part is when the chocolates go on sale on the 15th.

I’ve already submitted a poem dubbed Ode to Tentacles, but I did find this stanza saved on my computer in case anyone was looking for inspiration.

Title: Just the Fucking

Fucking, the fucking shit
That cunt was so lit
Filthy fuck, in the shitter
Fuck my face full of glitter

Good luck to all the contestants.
Some previous poetry winners/runners-up, in case it gives inspiration or insight...

Liz - Dark Rain

"...Like the last two people on Earth
we embrace with an urgency that fuels a thirst
even the deepest kiss cannot satisfy,
licking each breathless syllable from each other’s lips
and swallowing...

Avrgblkgrl -When Passion Calls

"...Passion leaves you wet
Salty and sweet
A tinge of metal
A little taste of your own soul
Smear yourself across your own lips
This is how passion tastes..."

Elliotlacey31 - I Can Always Read Your Skin

"...Until that slow heat rises and you remember
the embers which continuously smolder
in the absence of my touch,
the constant note of desire
threading through all that you are..."

you left out mine!

i like to fuck
fucking is fun
i like to fuck
out under the sun
when i'm not fucking
i get kind of sad
i like to fuck
fucking is rad.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

Oh, I could never match these! Maybe I'd better sit out for this one...

GrushaVashnadze's best stories:

Alison Goes to London (RR) - "love this... fun, and funny, and sexy" (sprite)

The Cursed Cunt (RR) - "holyyyyy sheeeiiit.... Your writing is fucking fantastic" (CarltonStJames)

A Worthless Filthy Fucking Smoking Trash Cunt Whore (RR) - "Brilliantly done. Of course." (naughtyannie)

Snow White and the Seven Dildos (RR) - "Fuck. It's perfect.... honestly genius and so fucking well executed." (VioletVixen)

Metamorphoses (RR) - "so imaginative and entertaining" (saucymh)

And There Came Two Angels to Sodom - "What a deliciously worded story! So juicy, so raunchy" (el_henke)

Fuck-Talk (with VioletVixen) - "Jeez. I feel rendered wordless by how much clever fucking fun this is" (Jaymal)

Aw, come on Grusha. Make a stanza. Link them together like a daisy chain. Heck, I'd even go ass to mouth for you. That's something I usually never do.

Grusha, I second Violet's comment (except for the ass to mouth part ) While I agree those poems you referenced will be hard to beat, you can do this thing called Poetry!

You are a musician for God's sakes! And I believe a poet lives within every musician. So ... you find a quiet space to stroke your instrument until the poetry erupts in spurts of beautiful stanzas! OR ELSE ...

Kindness is contagious. Spread it! ❤️

I have a question...How come there is a comp. 5 score or comp 4 score on some of the entries? Mine just says comp. score.

Hi Lucky,

If you have already scored a story, you will be able to see your score against it, so those 4s and 5s are from you to the story you're looking at. You can't score on your own.

To Jen, thank you for including me in one of the examples??....and don't leave Rachel out ??? And to Rachel, I agree, fucking is indeed rad ???

Hi, I was wondering if I can add on to my poem. It’s already entered into the competition.

Hiya Lucky. No, I'm sorry. Basic edits are fine, but while the competition is live, once something is published you can't add to it.

Once the competition is over you can of course feel free to add to it then.

Thanks, Jen x

As of Sunday morning (my time), February 21, 2021, there are seventy-four (74) entries in the 2021 Lush® Valentine Poetry Competition.

That makes it the most competitive Valentine poetry contest to date on this site, if not the most contested competition here ever, with a week to go for even more entries.

That means at least sixty-four (64) [84% of] worthy entries aren’t going to make the podium and the top ten.

Entrants, brace yourselves for that fact (and try not to feel slighted). You’re going to get a contestant badge, regardless.

Congratulations in advance to all the eventual winners and top-ten finishers.

And thanks to everyone who made this a spectacularly inventive contest.

Thank you for the reminder! Completely forgot about making the badges for this comp.

Poetry is not for pussies. (Sorry, CleoElGato ) ... it's hard to write and everyone be proud of your entry!

I have to correct myself.

Our current Valentine poetry contest is not the most competitive of all Lush® contests (and still probably won’t be by February 28, 2021).

I believe that honor goes to last year’s Microfiction contest. I count 123 entries.

That means 113 entries there (92%) didn’t make the top ten.

As it stands currently (February 21, 2021), there are nearly 530,000 members and almost 63,000 published stories.

Even if you have a decent track record of Recommended Reads, Editors’ Picks, contest wins, and top-ten finishes, future honors are going to be even tougher to obtain.

This is why trying to win competitions shouldn’t be the goal of most Lush® authors. Aim for improvement and publishing the best possible story you can. Official recognition is not guaranteed.

Six days left, folks. Time enough to enter something if you're still on the fence.

It's honestly worth taking the leap and giving it a go if you never have. Just ignore that little flutter of nerves before you hit the submit button. Even competition regulars still get those. smile

Liz ain’t wrong, folks.

Lilly just submitted a poem that, in my opinion, could make the podium.

Don’t let those butterflies hold you back. Even facing the deadline, it’s worth it just to see what you can come up with.

That makes 77 contest entries and counting.

Here's to hoping for a final flurry of poetic verse. I've been learning a lot about poetry this competition (something I never thought I'd ever attempt to write). There's no real losers in these. Maybe I'm weird as my first ever story was also for a comp on here, but it's a great way to discover new styles and other creative types who like to write.

Forgo the toe-dip and jump headfirst into that grimy pool of smut (in this case love poetry). For all you know, it won't be cold at all, just warm and putrid. Next thing you know, you've caught the (writing) bug. And well... I'm in pretty deep with this writing thing now. I might be infected.

So, for those on the edge of submitting, I say go for it. Most Lushies don't bite, but they do scratch if you ask nice.
The total poem count for the current competition now stands at 79.

Don’t read the most recent entry if you still want to submit. I believe it has the 10 requisite votes to qualify for prize consideration. It has more than enough creativity, passion, originality, and eloquence to win.

This does not disqualify the worth of anyone else’s writing, as I and others have said repeatedly. Aim for writing your best work, not copying someone else’s.

Eighty poems. 80.

And there are still 4½ days to go.

Good work, Lushies. Here’s to you.

It’s going to be rough for the judges.

84 people submitted entries. 74 (88%) won’t place in the top ten. Everyone that tried should be proud of themselves.

Thanks to all those who participated.
