That's my favorite book. I still like to listen to it on audiobook.

I also have "The Black Count" but I haven't read it yet. Its a biography of Dumas' father who was actually the basis for the Count of MC.

For generations our ancestors fought proudly as warriors against the Jedi. Reclaim our armored past for an unending future.
The Andromeda Strain by Michael Crichton

I enjoyed Airframe so much, I smashed it in one night. I wanted to check out something else by him. I'm not quite as hooked this time around though. It's still too early to tell, but maybe his more recent stuff...

A leaflet from the Lib Dems that just got posted through my door.

Hi Will

I just finished reading Dead Men Walking by Sherrilyn Kenyon, it should have been called Dead Men Yawning, not sure how I finished reading it, it was painful.

Wow, an oldie but a goodie. Film version (which I have not seen) has a pretty good rep, too.

Downloaded a couple collections of short stories on to my tablet last night, but I have trouble reading anything long these days. Seem to have developed some kind of mid-life ADHD or something. Find it hard to stay focussed on movies, too, esp. long ones.

Racing The Devil - by Charles Todd
Kissing your lips while straddling your lap.
The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
Just finished The Devil All the Time by Donald Ray Pollock.

With a name like Donald Ray Pollock you have to figure the guy is going to be either a hick or a serial killer. Well, as it turns out he writes about both. Very dark and very gritty. It would appeal to fans of southern gothic like Cormac McCarthy or Flannery O'Connor. Not for the weak of heart.

I just finished the 3rd book of Outlander series... All I can say is " I AM Absolutely SPEECHLESS! 20 years of separation "Jamie and Claire’s reunion" ... It is one of my favorites so far."It has always been forever for me, sassenach." ??
Bazaar of Bad Dreams, by Stephen King

I read this! Really enjoyed it. A friend who shares my love of Cormac McCarthy suggested it.

I'm still reading Everything Happens! by Ron Currie. I love exclamation marks in titles for some wierd reason. Very David Foster Wallace, but easier to read.
The count of Monte Cristo.
NIGHTWOOD - Djuna Barnes
You have to be careful on this website when you suggest that you know something that goes beyond anal. Unfortunately for those hoping for a new and exciting story category, this ultra-anal thing of mine amounts to the secret that I keep a record of every book I've read to the end. I can't deny it's odd. I hope to god someone else is going to own up to something similar.

But it's handy. Since I last posted here eleventy billion years ago, I know for a fact that the best of those I've read was the James Baldwin Another Country. Lovely, painful, beautifully written. Sebastian Faulks' novel was inspirational. The language brought the American Civil War to life, though the story was simple. Alexandr Solzhenitsyn's Day in the Life was moving because you know it's true. Joan Didion is great, though must be unfashionable as I don't hear anyone talking about her. England Made Me is the best book title in the world, it's a pity the story didn't live up to it (it has an odd theme). I rushed through Val McDermid's book. It isn't great literature; plotted like a jigsaw puzzle and I don't really like that. Raymond Carver and Alice Munro are wonderful short story writers, although both endlessly sad.

I read Reclaiming Conversation because I thought it was about time I did. It's nearly 400 pages of psychology; I had to concentrate, so told everyone to shut the fuck up while I was reading it. This was not its core message.

Next: Cannery Row and a book on English Grammar. Party time.
Steven king - bag of bones,
I just finished reading his doctor sleep, I think th his best so far,
Intensity by Dean Koontz for the hundreth time. It's still one of my favorites.
