Taking field trips away because you are too fucking blind to see their value is just bullshit! Don't give me the "Race to the Top" or "No Child Left Behind" bullshit either! If you bothered to ask what the teachers do when these kids go on these trips, before, during, and after, you'd see we incorporate these events in our lessons. History teaches about the Renaissance period, reading teachers teach about King Arthur & the Knights of the Round Table, the English teachers have the students write about their experiences (narrative essay which is in the common core standards), the math teachers have the kids calculate the costs of items sold, and science teachers teach about the history of science in that era. Okay... so... what... the fucking PE teachers don't cover this? Big fucking deal! Oh yeah... not all the elective teachers cover it either... SO WHAT?
Last year our kids had 1 or 2 field trips depending on what their grade level was. Sure 6th grade got left behind, but they aren't taking a history class. Seventh got one field trip and 8th got two. You know what really pisses me off? Shitty ass teachers. You can tell they are arrogant, self important, spiteful, bitter people who hold children back rather than guide them in the right direction. Just like every other profession, there are good ones and there are bad ones. Unfortunately the impact of a bad one can ruin so many children's experience, hindering them for the rest of their lives. They fly under the radar most of the time because no one will believe a child over a teacher in most cases. Bad teachers, without a doubt, sabotage students who they think have slighted them or dared to disrespect them in the smallest and mostly unintentional of ways. They think that just because they are a teacher they are always right and holier than thou when nothing could be farther from the truth.. In reality they teach the same shit every year, the same shit that that they all do.. It's not like they really create a program, it's created for them. It's so damn simple to do. The difference between a good one and a bad one is all about their personality not their ability to read a text book out loud to a class. Some are just so damn vile with the worst attitude. They are poison and it makes me sick.
