The law is clear, as is the fact that Trump supported an insurrection. But this is one of those cases where the courts shouldn't apply the law - yet.

What I expect SCOTUS to do is punt on disqualifying Trump for 2020 and then make sure he is disqualified for 2028. The corrupt 6 don't care about the country but they do care about their party and if Trump is alive and isn't entirely incapacitated by the dementia, he will run in 2028 and become another three time loser.

It is pretty clear that the family and the people round him are limiting his public engagements to the bare minimum. The strain is clearly showing when he does appear in public.

Given Trump never won a majority of the votes and only got into the WH because of the slaver constitution, I don't see why using the constitution to stop the , criminal traitor from running would be a bad thing. If the EC is a valid thing then so is the 'no treasonous curs who tried to overturn the republic' thing.

I expect The Supreme Court to rule in favor of Trump in the Colorado ballot case. I doubt the vote will be close and possibly unanimous.

Still Trump sucks! He is the scummiest man to ever hold the office of President, and l hope the voters will reject him. Unfortunately, Biden's age, shaky hands and always forgetting what he is saying doesn't help. But l'll vote for Biden any day over Trump.

Several slave owners have held office. But then again, Trump probably would've been one if he could have.

You could vote for someone other than Biden or Trump. Just sayin’. The reason they keep feeding is shut is because we keep eating shit.

But like you said, this issue will be decided by the Supreme Court. And once again all American lives will be dictated by 9 unelected god kings with lifetime appointments an no oversight. I’m sure Clarence Thomas will get a very nice fully paid for vacation out of this.

If we're being honest, the democrats aren't being subtle. Their whole thing has been "Hey, we're fucking you in pretty much all the same ways as the repubs, but at least we're not repubs, right?" I'll concede that Trump's presidency forced everyone to show their hands. But not many of us lefties are naive enough to believe that the democratic party is worth a damn, nor has it been for quite some time. Again, Trump's presidency made the denial of this fact willful instead of misinformed.

I disagree with the "both parties are fucking us the same way" sentiment. The Dems are pretty feckless, but they have actual policies they are pursuing. The Reps have given away policy pursuit (they didn't even bother with a platform in 2020) and form themselves around Trump's latest hate tone poem.

We may disagree on how to keep Trump and the Reps out of office, but you are fooling yourself if you believe there is any equivalency between the parties. This is a stress test of democracy itself.

You are fooling yourself if you believe there isn't. But again, playing both sides of the fence as a moderate requires substantial levels of self-deception to somehow always magically align yourself with the best that both parties have to offer (LOL).

Again, the crumbling of democracy is already in full-swing. Has been for quite some time.

I'm not fond of going back and forth with fools, so we can end our discourse here. Cheers.

Rude. I am no fool. And I didn’t call you anything rude.

You use the word “moderate” in lieu of an actual argument. Along with, you know, the “fool” thing,

Dani is consistently comparing Democrats to Republicans as if it's even a rational thinking-persons end result.

Gimme a fucking break. Republicans are always trying to fuck everyone over and into the ground. So they can be the king of the hill and everyone else can take a knee and kiss their royal asses.

Both parties consistently shit on the best interests of the US. Republicans/conservatives may be the greater of the two evils by eons. But how low does the bar have to be for the main celebratory point for Democrats is that they’re less evil (openly) than Republicans?

What have Democrats done to help the marginalized and the disenfranchised over the last decade? Shit, even just the last couple of years? I point out the marginalized and disenfranchised because they suffer the most. Gun control is still shit. Reproductive rights are still shit. Plans to address student loans are still shit. Price gauging is at an all-time high and corporations have yet to be kept in check, so we get to play the “inflation” game. Instead we’re consistently told that prices are dropping. Speaking of corporations, there have been no major changes in trying to help preserve this planet for future generations to come. Don’t get me started on the homelessness problem. The public primary education system is fucked. No matter how you slice it, the Democrats haven’t meaningfully/impactfully delivered. And when they consistently shit the bed, they get to just point their fingers at the Republicans. Their only saving grace is that they’re not the GOP, which further galvanizes them into pissing down everyone’s leg and telling them it’s raining. We deserve better than that, and we won’t get it if we are always patting them on the back for not being openly evil pieces of shit.

Deceit is deceit, regardless of the party from which it comes. And blind loyalty to the Democrats is no different than allegiance to the MAGA cult. A party is only as strong as the willingness and ability of the public to hold them accountable.

Both are functionally the same when planted in your heart.

… I don’t really know where I’m going with that but it sure sounds like I’m being poignant.

The Democrats continually dangle the carrot in front of the horse. They'd rather keep masses impoverished and convinced that they, the Democrats, are their saviors in order to control them as a voting block.

The crooked Republicans keep fucking over the Democrats for power because the Democrats are weak and have a weak political platform. Anyone with common sense knows the Republicans are for themselves, corporate leaders, the mega-rich, and country club social class. And the GOP is willing to do anything,, no matter the immorality to gain and keep power.

And if you think the Democrats are less beholding to their big corporate owners or you might say donors, than the GOP, then you are willfully blind.

Neither political party is worth a damn. And that is a damning statement on the American two-party system. While there are other few very small, lunatic fringe political parties, they don't even scratch the surface of the two party domination and corruption.

Biden was elected by an anti-Trump wave of voters. Trump was elected (though only by the electoral college) because so many Democrat voters couldn't choke down voting for Hillary Clinton. Note Obama won easily by a clear majority of the voters.

Find candidates that people feel good about supporting and really want to vote for. End the vote for the choice that is least shifty!

Yes, Democracy in the USA is in trouble. The extremists are growing in number on each side, and the hate growing more intense.

She has about a dozen and a half good points I cannot refute. But the Democrats aren't the GQP or the Republicans who have supposedly 'quit' their former party. Vote however you wish. Use 2024 as a protest vote on your chosen candidate.

I wanted another old guy in 2020 as vice president and Elizabeth Warren as Prez. But, another THING got in the way of what I really wanted, so I had to settle for Biden.

I don't think many of you were alive the last time America had a decent Democratic President. But he was a hamstrung outsider who inherited the shambles of the Nixon/Ford regime.

Perhaps if Hillary had been elected in 2016, we'd be talking now about AOC or any handful of younger, more progressive individuals who would like a run at the top seats of power.

But...

Another THING got in the way of that personal desire.

So, I chose the lesser of 2 evils - by a large margin and cast a vote for Brandon. I shall again grit my teeth and vote sensibly instead of passionately, next November.

Trump's going to get swamped, even with all the gerrymandering and rat fucking tricks we're going to be exposed to.

The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.

What have Democrats done to help the marginalized and the disenfranchised over the last decade?

Obamacare for a start. Biden was a big part of getting that through the Senate.

What have the Green Party done? They were hijacked by Putin's people, Jill Stein paid to dine with Putin. They have completely stopped promoting renewable energy and are more likely to be found opposing wind turbines, not because of the environment but because they like Koch money.

Problem with politics is that there are lots of corrupt people and sometimes they join a movement just to run it into the ground. The Green party had been coddling anti-vax loons for a decade before COVID. People died because of the lies they told.

Biden got a major infrastructure bill through Congress. As a result, the US has recovered from the pandemic faster than any other large economy. The bound back took two years, not six like it did last time when the GOP got to sabotage the stimulus bill.

Calling people stupid doesn't make a good argument.

I said in the past decade or last couple of years. Obamacare happened before then. And if you truly think the US has “recovered” in any meaningful way from the pandemic, I’ve got a beach house I can sell you in Idaho. Funny how I asked about milestones in the last decade, you named only two, which is embarrassing enough in and of itself, but of the two, one is a complete fallacy.

What have you to say to the other failings of the Democrats that I previously mentioned? Hard Mode: You can’t blame Republicans or shift the focus to another party.

As to the rest of your post, I’ll disregard it. No one’s talking about the Green Party, and it’s just another way to place blame on another party instead of holding the Democrats accountable for their failings and reneging (which is something Republicans love to do by the way, just in reverse of course).

Calling people stupid when they’re being stupid/obtuse is leagues more valuable than coddling said stupidity. The latter is a large contributor to the fucked state of the US. A bunch of stupid people have gone unchecked and are now convinced that they’re the smart ones, now look where we are. Stuck in an endless loop of party over principle with certain classes feeling it the hardest while those who don’t struggle as much (or at all) get to pat themselves on the back for keeping the good (read: less evil) guy in office. Some people are stupid because they choose to be, others because they don’t know better. Society as a whole improves when we support the latter and disregard the rest.

So while calling people stupid may (arguably) not be a good argument, it’s still a valid one.

A third party then?

I’ve considered it. It’s also the first time in my lifetime I’ve come close to considering not voting, but neither of these things are feasible or helpful.

I’ll vote for whatever keeps the Republicans at bay, which means the Democrats, and further perpetuate the cycle of being fucked, because at least the Dems use lube and tell me I’m pretty first.

My whole point has been pretending the Dems are something they aren’t simply because they’re not Republicans is foolish at best.

Ideally, I’d love to see the two party system completely dismantled. But until then, I’ll go with whoever’s lessening my quality of life at the slowest pace. The best I’ve got right now is doing so with full awareness, instead of putting a party on a pedestal, romanticizing their paltry successes, and minimizing their failings.

She is a progressive who is tired of being hoodwinked and she's vocal about it. She's just not ready to relinquish her desires from reality.

And the reality is, Trump (and when I say Trump, I'm referring to the criminal election thieving conglomerate) can 'win' in 2024 because people aren't happy with the 'progress' Biden - ie (Democrats) have made in the 3 years since Trump had the USA at the brink of all manner of horrible outcomes by November 2020.

I get her frustration. I was there in 1996, when I started hearing and paying some attention to Bill Clinton's issues. That lying motherfucker. Bob Dole - AND the GOP almost convinced me to vote against my best interests.

Bill talked so smoothly he had me totally convinced to join his brigade. Slick Willy - he had it in spades. How else does an almost 50 year old, white headed goofball from Arkansas convince an attractive 25 year old to start and continue sucking on his cock...was he paying her off with a prime career position?

No

He was quite glib and well practiced. I was almost metaphorically sucking his cock... and I liked the shit that spilled out of his mouth.

I am probably going to do a write-in vote for president. I don't know who yet, but l despise Trump with every ounce of my being, and Biden is ready for the nursing home.

The Green Party makes me laugh, and the Libertarians are eh... well better than the Green, but a waste of time.
