With condolences to Kat and her Lions and Kim and KC,

I was very pleased to watch Matt Stafford throw another 4 TD passes after torching the Jags for 5 TD in the game before. The Saints are not a good team at all but they have at least come close to beating some good teams, so watching the Rams cruse to 6-2 with a 34-10 back hand to NO felt good. And if not for a couple of penalty assists on the part of LA to them, and the last 4 minute drive being a series of tike killing ruins up the middle instead of actually trying to score, they wouldn’t have even got into the End Zone and score could easily have been 42-3.

Right now, the NFC west holds 2 6-2 teams and the Niners at 6-3. This is looking like the toughest division in the league at the half-way point. But now, we start an interdivisional round robin where all three will be facing each other multiple times.

Matt Stafford is having a potential MVP season so fingers crossed he starts healthy

I finally slept last night. So, coffee for me. I have a comment or two to respond to this morning as I wait for Taken to be published

We have authors who routinely submit audiio narrated by a machine. It's about as sexy as asking your sat-nav to recite a shopping list, but each to their own I guess.

Really? And that's about how exciting I suspected it would be.

Siri, read ‘The Story of O’’

Yeah, no thanks

I had an interesting, though not perhaps a positive thought.

Has the site encouted AI narration in Audio stories? And would that be at all acceptable if the story itself wasn't artificially generated?

It's not something I'd be interested in myself. I'm not one for audio in the first place but I imagine the issue will come up soon if has not already.

As I mentioned above, I've listened to a number of sci-fi stories on youtube that were both written and voiced by computer. It can work in that genre but as an erotic work? It's lack of emotion would seem to make that impossible to do effectively

i keep trying to leave. Unfortunately, Jen knows where I live. not to mention, she's got the only key to my leash, so here I am, still slaving away and being abused.

Yeah, but you LIKE it when she does that 😂

And since I'm first, have some donuts and good old ‘Merican Black Rifle Coffee

Good morning, Rumpies. I'm in first so I'll turn on the lights and set up a pot of coffee.

The time changed last night here in the US and Canada ( except for a few states. Looking at you, Arizona ), so we will be up a bit earlier than usual.

And congrats to the Dodgers for their WS victory even if Id have rather seen the AL Jays win it all.

And it's Sunday, time for American football and I'm looking forward to the LA Rams moving to 6-2 against the Saints and their Rookie QB making his first start ever. As the Rams are second in the entire league in sacks per game and are coming off a bye week so they will be fresh, I think the NO coaching staff is putting the poor kid in the mouth of the, er, lions den ( sorry for the pun, Fuzzy)

Well, time to join my lady friend for a cup

If we could prove it, that would be something I'd love to implement. But:

  • AI tools can clone a writing style in seconds, even if the story isn't all that engaging.

  • Authors can generate a boilerplate via AI and then edit it. At that point, how much is their work vs the machine's work, given they instructed the machine to write a story based on a premise the author dreamed up, and then put their own spin on it?

  • We ask authors to use things like Grammarly to flag/correct obvious grammar snafus. But those tools now say: "hey, while I'm here, this sentence might sound better like this... want me to change it for you?" and bases its suggestion on content stolen/plagiarized from others. So even if the author wrote it from scratch, AI is assisting them to make it better... and we asked them to do it (sort of) to keep the site quality up.

With all the above shades of usage, it's difficult to prove one way or another how much input a machine has had, so we're stuck with it at present.

All we can do is encourage authors to use their brains to have a go at writing, keep their synapse plasticity ticking into old age, and enjoy the process of bringing something to life instead of taking a shortcut

I use Grammarly myself for general editing due to my dyslexia so I see your point. I was more referring to stories that were basically fully generated, but my knowledge of those programs and how they work beyond reading the results from stories off site are all the experience I have on the subject.

Your response is appreciated

About 60%, or thereabouts. Seems to be gradually dropping, sadly, with the AI slop that's being dumped on us, and it's slowing everything down.

Rejections take more time than passing a well-written story. Worse, many of the people who pretend they can write by prompting AI to do it for them, don't even read the rejection note that the moderator spent time crafting, nor care how long it took them to read. Why would they, when it took minimum effort to create the content? Easy come, easy go. They simply delete the story, generate a new pile of soulless generic garbage and resubmit it 10 minutes later. Many times, these people are so fucking lazy they also leave the AI prompts in the story itself! It honestly defies belief.

I can only assume it's a by-product of look at meee, I'm the centre of the universe. Look at me NOW.

Thankfully, the only brains harmed in the process are the people who don't use them fully for creative purposes.

It truly does defy belief. It was bad enough dealing with writers who refused to put in basic effort. I saw a lot if that, those that were only interested in seeing their name on the front page and thought views, positive comments and even awards were their due simply because they hit submit.

But now these same kinds of people can flood the Que with AI crap they can generate in seconds (I assume it's that fast)

Franky I think the site should treat that with the same direct responce one gets from other flagrant violations of the submission guidelines. Warning, suspension and ban

I used to years ago. It was a personal process spent in peaceful, quiet space with candles and aromatherapy.

During those moments, I visualized serene landscapes a varying types n an effort to balance my mind and body. I’m not sure when I left that practice, but it was sometime ago.

In most situations, I prefer to be the center of attention (or at least in the group that prefers attention).

I spent too many years in supervision to ever need attention again. I left southern California to a very rural piece of land in tennesee just so I wouldn't have neighbors right on top of me. I want my personal lift quiet for now

All the time. As a dyslexic I am never 100% sure I didn't miss some obvious error. And, the things I see might change each time I view the work, so I've built a habit of gong back to self edit even after a story is posted to the front page. I have two of my recent works with errors that need to be corrected but they are new and still being read daily. I'll need to wait until they go stale before making an edit or risk protracted time on hold while our diligent staff of mods has the time for such trivialities as my obsession with getting things perfect

When I came back in 2019 after being away for about that same amount of time, I felt a little lost here. Most of my friends were gone, and I had to start over. YOU were one of the first people to encourage me and make me feel like it was worth the effort. I'm glad you are back and finding your way again. 😘

Thank you. It was a little depressing to see how many old friends were no longer active, so finding you and Kim still here was hugely uplifting. Baines1 as well, as he was an old friend that went way back. Of course, their were others, Seeker and those who post here at Rumps, but I wasn't an everyday mushroom at the bar in those days.

But I am having a better time here than I had for years before I left. And being retired now allows me time to write I simply hadnt had for years

I listen to many sci-fi stories created by AI on YouTube and it's obvious just through the use of certain repetitive phrases that they were written by a computer. And, they are often highly derivative and monotonous.

Computers are fine for a level of editing but even then it's grammatical suggestions are complete crap unless you are writing a business report.

It was bad enough when the mods had to deal with writers who were trying to slip inappropriate content into a story. I hate to have to go through and try to filter out everything that might’ve been written by a machine.

My hats off to the team. I don’t think I’d wanna do that job today. That was a problem no one ever thought about when last I was an active member

Happy Saturday, y'all. I live in farming country here in Tennessee, surrounded by soybean fields. By this time of year, that should all have been harvested but it's not. It seems the local farmers aren't even bothering to go get it and are just letting it go unharvested this year.

As an Angelino, my entire family and all my friends are Dodger fans and they were pretty hyped up on the group chats I belong to. This is why I haven't been following the series. I've seen this movie before

I really hope the Jays can pull this out because LA is already clearing a spot right next to their Kirk Gibson shrines for Game 7 highlights

On a happier note for me, my entire Wild Girl series is picking up views from the release of Wild Oats part 2. It seems the Anthology modal I'm using in this series is working out nicely.

Truthfully it was a bit humbling to return to Lush after more than 5 years to find my old readership having moved on. It a good to see I'm able to earn some of that back

I'm writing this in bed. My dogs are huddled against me so tightly you'd think I was coated in Velcro. Both are sound asleep, so I guess I'm not getting up yet

I found a story in my archive that I wrote years ago for lush before they banned a certain category that shall go unnamed.

But with the ban, I put it aside and eventually posted it on some other sites under a different name. I think I’ve cleared most of those out over the years, but there may still be a copy floating around out there somewhere.

But I’m making some changes to it right now and that’ll be the next story I post it’s called ‘Taken

As I work toward Double Omnium (Not a badge, just a fun way to challenge myself), I am contemplating how to address some of the categories that are out of my wheelhouse. Watersports don't typically appeal to me. But I've got a story idea bouncing around in my head that I think might translate into a tale worth telling. I'll keep you posted.

My recent story, Confessions Of The Redhead Brigade, was written for the Humor genre. If you've read a decent number of my stories, this should be a fun read. If not, I'm told it's still worth your time. 😘

You got a real masochistic streak, Kat 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Confessions Of The Redhead Brigade

What happens when the characters decide to get together in the author's head?

While the Wild Girl series is a non-linear anthology and need not be read in any particular order, they do follow the following chronological order:

Wild at Heart- 1968. The story of Dani’s Great Aunt Evie’s first steps into the world after leaving her family in Arkansas.

Wild Oats. Part 1&2. -2021. Dani is 16 and sets her sights on her stepfather. this was meant as a single chapter, but I broke it in half as it became too long.

Wild Child. 2025. Dani is now 20 years old and returns home after spending an extended time at school and out of the country.

Evie left home and found life waiting with open arms

First Time

I finally got some sleep, maybe 3 hours worth. Hopefully I’ll nap today. Someone pour me a stiff one and give it to me…

You know, in this place, that sounds dirty somehow

Another sleepless night. Insomnia has been a big problem for me for years and it’s just getting worse. I’ll probably get a couple hours. Sleep right around dawn

Until then, there’s a pretty lady over at the table 3 that wants a cup of coffee, so I’ll take care of her in more ways than one. 😎

You are a brave man for drinking that much in a place that requires a lot of walking in public lol

I'd never advise anyone to smoke but yeah, a good cigar with brandy or whiskey is one of the fine indulgences in life

You have no choice but to say that fuzzy... being a lion. 🙄😊

I thought I would just drop by, better late than never... Already almost 9 pm here. I hope Bear is feeling better.

A Glayva whisky for me. Thank you. 😊

I bet that's good with a stogie

Just pm me here if you like. They won't let us share personal contact info openly for our own safety

What they are doing on screen matters far less to me than who is doing it. My tastes vary a great deal as does my mood in regards to what turns me on. So, I browse until I find someone that grabs my attention. I'm more interested in how into it she-or he- is responding in the moment than to what's they are actually doing or is being done to them

Good for you David. I wish I had the guts to do that.

My wife is gone. My parents as well. No uncles or aunts and no kids either. I never had any. Ihave no one left to hide from

I used to keep it a secret, mainly for professional reasons. But then I married a well known writer here and that let the cat out of the bag in my personal life.

Since I retired, I have no reason for pseudo-names so I dropped Milik_the _Red for my first and middle names. This might not have been good advertising on the site, I was pretty well known here once upon a time but now that I can live honestly in my personal and (lack of) my professional life about my craft, I'm happy to do the same here.

This is why I stopped using avatars and put my own picture up

How many copper pieces did that cost you? 😁 (Old D&D humour. Indulge me, okay?)

I TOTALLY got that…

Morning, Rumpies!

I’ll be dropping off Butters in the morning. Please look after her while I’m gone. She loves salmon. And last time she was here, she took a liking to napping curled up with David LeRoy’s dragon. smile

Thank you! ❤️

Butters is ADORABLE!

I've had both my dogs sitting on my lap for the last hour. It was cold in the house this morning and I think I'm being used as a warming pad. My feet are cold and was about to put in some thick wool socks but they won't let me. No, they aren't spoiled at all. Lol.

At least I poured my coffee before ii sat down.

The picture is Gabby. She was Simi’s favorite

It rained hard the last couple of days but now the storm has past sonive got clear blue skies and temps dropping because of it. Outside the leaves are turning which is beautiful but it also means I'll be out raking them soon. I spent all summer getting my lawn to grow in so I'm not going to let it get smothered this winter.

Next up, I'll be getting some writing done. I'm working on two different stories but neither has really clicked yet so I have no idea which of them will be done first. Or if another idea pops up and causes me to put them aside for awhile.

All that while Wiild Oats part 2 awaits publication. This one I'm looking forward to. I personally think it's one of the best I've written since I returned
