Hey Bear, quiet holidays planned with family. Eat, drink, games, eat some more, and drink some more LOL!!! We have two adult children, both married, both with one daughter each, ages 5-years and 22-months, so we have to share them with the other grandparents. As a result, we had our Christmas last weekend, so Lady Jay and I will be spending a very quiet Christmas together.

Fortunately for us, we planned on this. We have friends, including some here, who have had to cancel their travel plans and will be home alone without intending it.

I finished a comp piece (so to speak…) and submitted it early this week, but it was rejected. I've made the requested changes, and am waiting to hear back. It's a Christmas story, so it would be nice if it were published by Christmas! (That's a hint to any moderators who happen to wander in for a drink!)

So – for us, eating and some drinking, including the traditional Christmas champagne (sparkling wine, to be precise), and perhaps some games, but nothing really racy.

That has to be scary but i have a feeling we're all going to be "positive" sooner or later. So as long as we get vaxxed and take care we should get thorugh this. I hope this doesn't mess with your holiday, and i know your daughter feels awful even if physically she feels fine. Good luck!

Add one more, my new story i wrote for the "Coming Together" winter competition even though i know it would end up way, way too long to actually enter . it's name is Mummer's Day. I had a lot of fun writing it and am quite proud of it.

I want to talk about what i write. My stories started after i met a woman named ~Laura~ on another site and fell for her like a ton of bricks. Of course, she's British and I'm not and an ocean between us has limited the possibilities, particularly now that she has found real-life true love.

But Laura is brilliant, original and we liked to play together in different places and times in history and space. My first story was Meeting My Mistress: A London Adventure began as a roleplay, but really it was about us and a roleplay is not a story so i made significant editorial changes and sent it to her. She loved it, and so i put on Literotica.

The thing about Lit though, is they don't use human editors so much. They use a parser and eventually i wrote my two-part BDSM opus Masks. The goal was to capture how it felt to be gay, kinky and single during a pandemic, and the things we had to face to hook, which is a thing i was not doing in real life. But Lit didn't like it because the parser saw something that made no sense at all and rejected me for it. Masks really is a microcosm of what i write about people, who happen to be having sex or falling in love. I write a people. So far they've all been lesbian relationships, but i can promise that will change. I am, after all, no stranger to cock. And since Masks, roleplays have played no role in my stories. They're all products of my own diseased mind.

My latest story, Mummer's Day is the one i really want to draw your attention to. I spotted the recent competition Coming Together: Festive Stories Competition and was intrigued by the premise. But I had no intention of writing an 'office party hookup' so I took a look at holiday traditions. American Traditions, I knew well, so i Googled European Christmas Traditions It turns out several countries have a tradition of Mummer's performing short plays for the holidays. They're amateur productions, often short and silly about various themes. And as i looked into it i saw story possibilities that were not in the least cliched. The disadvantage of course, is the competition is limited to 3,500 words i knew from day one there was no way i could slide in under that word limit. But Mummer's Day is a Holiday story, about friendship and love discovered over the holiday season, and giving a dying man joy before his end. I hope you'll take the time to read it, and maybe discover what i write.

I, for one, was thrilled to see Kimmi on the podium both here and on SS in this latest round of comps. I did not read the story here, but the one over there definitely belonged.

In my 8+ years under my previous Lush incarnation, I never made top three and rarely made top ten. And I know part of it is my style. My erotica, at least my longer pieces, tends to be character-driven with an unabashed romantic streak and I know that's not as popular here as wilder, kinkier stuff. I would more often have a vanilla sex scene in a romantic scenario than cuffs and spanking without that context. I had my audience and I was happy to live with that, but it is part of my debate over starting to write for here again.

I would also point out that it has always been clear on here and SS, at least to me, that these are JUDGED competitions, not voted ones and that views and votes did not determine the winners, though the latter are used to determine the short lists. Anyone having expectations for their story's performance in a comp based on views is misguided and not paying attention.

Anyhow, I hope this discussion ends. This is supposed to be the silly fun thread. Maybe all those turning it into another gripe about Lush thread should be given a good spanking. I am sure we have some willing volunteers to administer them.😈

I have no idea what the judges like. I’ve put what I think are two strong stories in two comps. But the reason to enter them isn’t to win. It’s to get noticed. There are a bunch of new stories every day on Lush so why invest time in one of mine if you’ve never read one before? I think I won readers and that’s what matters
