That's normal procedure. There are other reasons why we might lock a story though. I wouldn't pay too much attention to it. We do it for queue management. It doesn't always mean much.

Seriously I think it helps to housekeep ones device on a regular basis in an attempt to minimise errors, lag etc. that may be caused by cache, cookies etc. I clear mine every day and also manage disk space, check for OS and browser updates. Think of your device as your body. Keep it in good shape and it will pay dividends. Its worked for me

Despite the negative connotations of the word, obsessions don’t have to be unhealthy. Maybe it’s a first love and you sit dreaming of them until the next time you can touch again. 

Perhaps a new partner has introduced you to a new sexual experience, so intense, so mind-blowing that all you can think about is the way it had you writhing and squirming and cumming until you were a spent wreck.

Or just maybe, it is an obsession with a slightly darker bent. We have horror, reluctance and mind control categories on Lush. It’s an extra challenge for writers to write in those categories and stick to the consent rule, but when people get it right, the stories can be pretty intense. 

As always, don’t limit your imagination. You can write in any main category (no poetry, flash or micro) and have any number of sexual partners for your characters. Use the category descriptions to get additional ideas.

Stories should have a maximum of 7,500 words. This competition will run until the end of September and winners will be announced Oct 13th.

Don't think so, but we publish many more stories these days, so the reading pool is much larger.

No. It was missed when we moved and has not been reinstated. Jury is still out on whether it will be reinstated at some point. It could be extremely time consuming for the panel to get through and not everyone could dedicate the time, unfortunately.

I didn't delete anything.

There are lots of different levels of caching etc involved, for all the various parts of the site, and that is as technical as I'm ever going to get. We need to be able to retain stuff on the servers in line with GDPR and for follow up reports to law enforcement etc.

If you delete your account, all data is purged after a set time.

I'll just reiterate basic internet safety for everyone. Between downloading and screenshots, if you don't want something on the internet, don't put it on the internet.

Our governor passed a bill a while ago, making us give ID info to watch adult content.

Yeah, I'm honestly not sure. This site is UK based though, so that's why it's kicking in for us now. Not sure if ISPs are meant to limit who sees what in other places. How would any company keep a track of every law in every country or state that users access their content from 🤷🏼‍♀️

If you're a UK member, you'll notice that from today, you will need to sign in to read stories. This is due to the new age verification bill for adult sites which goes live tomorrow.

Existing members won't have to re-verify, but new rules will be in place for people signing up.

If you can read this, you're already a member, lol, so this is just for info. There will be instructions for new people signing up to follow, to advise them how they can age verify.

I just wanted to address this because it's something we're seeing more and more of, and given the state of the world, I suspect it's only going in one direction.

This is a writing site, but more than that, it's a community of writers and readers who encourage, feed back to, assist and champion other amateur writers who take time and effort to learn the rules of grammar, hone their craft, edit and edit and edit and then put out something for others to hopefully enjoy.

Plugging something into an AI generator and presenting a story about five seconds later, in my opinion, is just as bad as plagiarism, which is already the top cardinal sin on a writing site.

I've no doubt that some people just won't care in the slightest that it's not their own work, but I'm going to ask anyway. Please don't. Don't cheat, don't take the easy way, don't pass skynet's generic wank fodder off as your own. Don't feed your ideas into an engine and kid yourself on that you wrote something because it uses your own experiences. Have a go yourself.

If we do find out your story is AI generated, your story will be deleted and you may face an account ban.

Just to add to the above...

We now have nearly 6000 platinum and gold members, so although stories are still fast tracked, the wait times will range from between 1-4 days in general. This isn't a guarantee - things will fluctuate throughout the year, but I just want to reassure people there has been no change with the way the stories are received.

Obviously, story fast tracking is just one advantage of a platinum membership, and many premium members don't write stories. We are continually monitoring this. For information, we may occasionally allocate things to a mod to allow us to manage the main queue a little better, so you may see a story as allocated, which then shows at a later time as unallocated.

For non-premium members, the wait time will usually range from 5-10 days, but can creep up to 2 weeks at busy times.

Please don't be surprised if more stuff gets rejected back to authors to fix, instead of us fixing it ourselves. A good proofread or a simple spell check should catch the basic errors that we still often find.
