Bravo for being so ..... understanding to those who steal from you.

I don't see "at least they're still reading it" as any type of consolation for the effort one puts into their original works.

By not writing, I do not see it as "Punishing myself" .... contrary .... paraphrasing LaserDaddy [sorry LaserDaddy] .... "I will not waste any effort on" .... writing for it only to be stolen without even an acknowledgement.

Fuck that noise.

Hey VG, it's not a question of being understanding towards the thieves, more of an understanding that this problem is rife over the internet and that there's not much I can do about it alone.

If it's online, then it can be stolen. Whether Lush has safeguards in place or not, there are always new ways around things and I am sure that Lush will do their level best to keep up to speed with this.

Will I contact some of these sites and ask them to remove my content?

Yes, of course, but there are so many sites where my work has been posted, it really is like trying to stop the tide.

Will I continue to support Lush, not only with my investment in gold membership/gifts etc, but with my writing, forum contributions and so on?

Yes, I will and I am also aware that Nicola and the team DO look out for us writers as a collective group, their family so to speak, and follow up complaints and champion our cause against sites who continue to plagiarise our work.

BUT the problem is endemic, not just in the erotic fiction sphere, but everywhere on the internet. Hopefully the law will catch up with the speed at which our virtual playground has evolved, but until such times, and given that it is a global playground and laws vary from place to place, we may be waiting for some time.

I think that our best bet is to stick together on places like this and use our collective voice to try and make a difference.

As for writing. Were I to stop, because people had pinched my work, well that would mean that a huge creative outlet, one I've come to rely on to vent and have fun, would be stymied. To me that would be a punishment, cutting off my nose to spite my face.

I do not wish to do that, so I will continue to post sporadically, given that I've had little time to do much else of late.

To the others who quoted me, thanks guys.
I was having a PM conversation with a friend about this and I thought I would share my feelings on the subject...

The way I see it, when I write a story and publish it in the public domain, then it's no longer mine - it becomes public property in some way - people will read it and do what they do. If there's an audio version, they can save that to listen to over and over.

I find writing cathartic, for me, it's more about getting the stuff out - once I've done that, it's served its useful purpose, it's easy to forget about it and while I like the feedback and so forth that I get here on Lush, in the grand scheme of things, if other people pinch it and read it elsewhere what does it matter? Okay, I may not get the personal credit I deserve, but at least they read what I wrote and hopefully enjoyed it?

The other thing is that, in the past, I would follow up on these websites, ask them to remove my work and sometimes they did, sometimes they didn't but no matter how often I would do this, more sites would pop up and do the same - it was like rearranging deckchairs on the Titanic, kind of pointless and the results aren't really worthwhile enough to merit either my time or my emotional investment...

I guess this must be how musicians and bands feel when people download their music without paying? Or when people share stuff on FB without crediting the original poster or person who made/wrote it...

As for stopping writing and contributing? Well, I don't get paid for it, it's not like they're stealing from my purse. I just do it because I want to, it's a hobby. I'll keep writing here because it does me good and also because people seem to enjoy what I post - if they enjoy it somewhere else without my say so, well, that does suck a bit, but at least they're still reading it... The only person I'd be punishing by not writing would be myself.

Anyway, those are my thoughts.

You do have a talent for birthday gifts, sweetest Cricket ;) . Nice to know you received such a cool one.

I think your rank should be Infinite Jester

smile. Thank you, Mazza. I'm not a woman, but I sometimes cry during girly movies. Does that give me any leverage?

I'm sure it would... ;)

Hey, Milik... Gav said you were better than I was

So, those BJ tuition lessons... how about those?? Hmm?
You have to blow Gav to get one... Then you get a rank based on how well you do, how long it takes etc etc

(You'll notice it's mainly women who have the good ones - there's a reason for that)

Well, I've had stories stolen before, audio work too - as much as I hate it, I've not had much success sorting it out...

Anyway, I went onto that site, searched for "mazza" and this is what it came up with

a story by CG (and me) and Elit's story that I did audio for...

Bastards for stealing it though...

EDIT: okay, it looks like they actually have a shitload of mine there... fucking bastards
I like both, if it's well written, then I can get into the story and not really think about that.

Sometimes I'll read a male writing a female POV or vice versa and they'll not quite get it right and that does distract from the story...

I've written from a male POV a few times and I haven't done audios for those - The lovely Clum did though. In saying that, I've been told that if it's well read, then people won't notice if a female reads a male part, but I've never had the baws to do it...

It was a courgette, dear (that's zucchini for my American chums) remember?

Courgette = ooooh ouch
Cucumber = holy fuck, that stretches
Marrow = AAARGH, fetch the sellotape, I'm burst

Jesus, Steph... I thought you were quicker on the uptake than that...

(they say that you can't teach an old dog new tricks, huh?)

Guess it's time for a refresher...

It's not my place to Name Names, BUT, one of the finest female writers here is a Virgin...

xx SF

Sprite: "Admit it... It's you... Apart from the 'finest' bit... And the'female' bit... In fact even calling you a Writer is stretching it..."

Me: "I am not a Virgin, Sprite..."

Sprite: "VIRGIN! VIRGIN! VIRGIN!!!!"

Liz: "Awwwwww! Do you mean me?"

Me: "No..."

Narcissus: "I haven't actually written anything yet... And I'm not EXACTLY a Virgin..."

Saga: "I'm VIRGINAL... But not a virgin..."

Jayne: "I'M A VIRGIN!!! HONEST!"

Raven Star: "I'm a sort of Virgin, I suppose... I mean, I've never been taken up the shops..."

Mysteria: "I was a Virgin once... Longest 18 years of my life, to be honest..."

dpw: "I was a virgin when it was cool to be one..."

NymphWriter: "I could PRETEND to be a virgin..."

Milik Redman: "I'm sure I was one ONCE but I can't remember that far back..."

Mazza: "I lost mine back when I was a Bond Girl... Dear Sean!"

Buz: "I'm not a Virgin, but I once fucked a girl who WAS, if that helps?"

Smiler77: "Hun, if you're referring to ME we need to have a bit of a chat..."

Dancing Doll: "I'm NOT a virgin! And for that I will always be grateful to Johnny Depp! Who still texts me every year on my birthday! Like, get over it, Johnny!"

Me: "FUCK YOU ALL!"

You are a hoot, dear Steph!!

But you make a good point - one of my friends here is a superb erotic writer and yes, still a virgin - not naming names either...

I wrote about fucking a guy's ass with a strapon, but I've never actually done it (or HAVE I?)

lol

If you write well, people will read it...
I'm there as Mazza, but I've not even popped by the place in jeez, must be over 6 months - I do want to get back one of these days, but I'm pretty busy...

Feel free to add me though, I'll get you when life settles down a bit and I have more time on my hands (please let that be soon!!)
I'd really like it if stories in the reading queue had to be manually removed. Often I'll take a look to see what I have to read and maybe click on one and then it disappears from my queue, whether I've read it or not...

Or...

Maybe there could be more info about the story itself - all you get right now is the title, not the author, categories etc - maybe if there was more info, like there is on the front page, it would be easier to manage?

(I know, I'm a dumbass, but it would make my Lushlife that little bit easier)

People still think aids is from anal sex? really! have people really never heard of virology before. From what I understand aids is actually a virus originally found in a species of monkey in Asia somewhere that somehow adapted and spread to the human population through a bite or something.

There is a theory that it was from simian products in some vaccinations (in the same way that CJD was possibly spread from bovine material that way...)
Aaw, we have a few...

One we keep coming back to is:

(I know it's been played and played, but I still love it and him and he does make me very very happy)

Your tenacity and dedication paid off, well done, dear!!

I have small feet, uk size 4/5. Is this a turn off?

If they're in proportion with the rest of you then I don't see why it would be a problem?
