I write for me too. I try to write a story that I would find to be well written and erotic if written by someone else so, almost always, when I submit a story it has one person that likes it-me. If others like my stories then that makes it even better for me, especially if they include a number of females because I like it if a woman finds my words and imagination erotic.

I have never entered a competition and probably never will.

It will be a shame if Verity does leave the site because, apart from her being a very good and almost unique writer on here, I had a minor role in her arrival on Lush.

If you get a notification of a 'like' for instance, it ends up in the comments section.

Hello. Due to you having a Gold Membership already you will not have an upgrade tab. Once your Gold Membership expires the upgrade tab will be available to you, so that you can re-new your membership. If you would like to upgrade to Platinum Membership before your Gold Membership expires you can contact the Help Desk & they will be able to help you out. I know this is not what you are asking, just giving you additional information regarding upgrades.

Some will think that I am making a fuss over nothing (maybe I am) and although I do not consider that I message a huge amount of individuals I seem to have quite a high percentage of sent messages either unread or read and not responded to. Whilst obviously not all sent messages will get answered I was wondering if there was a 'technical' reason in some cases why the recipient could not answer (or open).

Looks like the reason is that they don't like me!

I am afraid that I do not know where the upgrade tab is to click on- I have Gold membership but I appreciate that you are talking from the recipient's pov.

Members who have no paid subscription can send/reply to 10 messages in a 24 hour period but they cannot use the IM. Silver and Gold members there is no restriction. As for your sent messages not being read, or perhaps they are but you dont get a reply, thats up to the recipient.

I guess it depends on why you are writing as to what matters to you. I do it because it's fun and challenging and I enjoy it. For me comments are great, I like to hear if people enjoyed the story or liked certain parts of it and don't mind critical comments that are useful. It's all good feedback.

I pay more attention to the Likes than the scoring system, and to me a 1 or 2 just means they didn't like or enjoy some aspect of the story. For me to give a 4 is a show of appreciation and recognition of a very well done piece that was a good read, a 5 is an excellent piece of work that impressed me. Everyone has their own ideas of what the scores represent.

Don't get upset or discouraged if someone doesn't like what you offer, many others do enjoy it.

All that makes perfect sense to me but I seem to get one '2' on almost every one of my recent stories. It does not bother me greatly (just a little bit!) but I do wonder if it is the same person doing it each time. It could be that they think the story is only worth 2 or just maybe (if it is always the same person) they just like voting '2' on stories.

I do not have green dots but unread (or unreceived?) sent messages are highlighted in grey.

My browser is in dark mode.

And once you open message, you'll see green check from user who has read message.

You need to stop worrying about users reading or replying to your messages.

I am not 'worrying' as such, just curious.

When I open the message it either says read or unread but yes, there is a green tick for those that are read.

I've had the same issue since the changeover, with friends that have read and responded to mails - without fail - for years. This is not a choice they have all suddenly made.

I was able to check with one friend, using external email, and she had not received the messages that were sitting in my sent folder.

I logged a ticket with the service desk which investigated. It turned out that this recipient had a privacy setting that refused contact from males.

As it turned out, all the while she had her no-males setting in place, I was still able to contact her using the Lush messenger. We only found this out later.

I contacted her and she fixed her privacy settings. She had not set this deliberately herself, but the new version of lush had apparently done it for her.

Once her setting was changed, she is now able to see my messages. Old messages that were in my Sent folder were not sent, though.

If you are sending messages to members of the opposite sex, this may be a better explanation of your situation than the one above.

tl;dr

There are several problems.

1/ The new system seems, in some cases, to have set some users' privacy to block contact from a particular sex.

2/ When the system denies the from sending mail to some recipients, the system still allows them to use messenger to make contact.

3/ Denied messages appear to be sent but are not, nor are they sent later if recipient privacy settings are changed.

4/ The message composing panel does not warn the sender that the intended recipient is refusing contact from members of that person's sex.

5/ Sending a message to a recipient that has elected to refuse contact from a particular sex does not generate any form of message to the sender that the message will not be sent.

6/ If a person has a setting to refuse messages from a particular sex, being a friend of that person makes no difference. It is not taken into account by the system.

Many receive messages but don't read them nor delete them but they've been received.

W/ the new format, you can check on the sent folder, click on message you send to user and see thar it's been read or not.

A little green mark will show up next to the read word.

If a user hasn't replied after a month, then let them be. They've chosen to not return communication which is ok.

The messages that I refer to are currently highlighted in grey (gray) in my sent box and if I click on them they say 'unread'. I am really asking if they have actually been received by the person(s) that they are sent to. I am also asking if everyone has the ability to receive/read and reply to messages or if the ability is restricted by the receiver's status regarding subscriptions. It is just that over a period of time I have sent a lot of messages to several different people that have apparently not been read. Does the 'unread' change to 'read' if they do actually read it but do not reply?

You obviously are picking and choosing which comments you read, cause if you read them all, you would see not everyone is thrilled with Lush as it currently stands. And isn't it odd that the people who seem happiest with the site just happen to be mods?

I intended this thread to gather information as well as to give people a place to vent a little. A thread that is looking to "ask-user-interface-questions-and-share-tips-here" doesn't really seem like a thread looking for feedback (despite what AppleByBoom said). A phone may be a great vehicle for a chat room (though I can't imagine how easy it is in a room with 100 people in it) but it certainly is not conducive to writing and posting stories.

Sorry for butting in, although I am part of this thread, but I think Jayne was not being serious. I do not profess to be be speaking for her because she does a lot of speaking for herself but I am pretty sure that she is fully aware that not everyone is happy.

Yes, 200 in a comparatively short space of time as the first one on here was in late April 2020.

I also have 211 on another site although about a dozen of them are the same story in a slightly different form, not exact copies.

I have now submitted that (potential) 200th story, complete with an Authors Note.

Wow, it would think it would take six or seven years to get that many on a single site. Plus the other site - even with the dupes, that'is around four-hundred. 

Yeah, the first one on the other site (which is a Male/Male spanking site-all from imagination) was only published in September 2019.

The site is constantly being fiddled with by the programmers; it seems to change almost from day to day. They should have figured out all of this before going to a new platform, but they didn't have the time. It does seem to be slowly getting better, but they have a ways to go yet. It may never be as good as the previous version. I have one story in drafts, but I'm not going to submit it until more time goes by. Maybe you should wait it out too and see how the site develops. I think here lies the problem. Many (including me) viewed this as a "writing site" with extras. And while we've been asked to be patient while the new site gets updated, please be patient with us as we go through the process of adapting, accepting changes, and reestablishing expectations. 

I write for my pleasure, but also wanted to feel like I contributed something positive to the site with my scribbles. It's hard to maintain that feeling when I don't get that mod's note saying they approved my story, no notification my story's even been published, or no comment from the mod on my story. If the story of mine that I am currently working on gets published, it will be my 200th on here.

I have enjoyed and stil enjoy being on Lush, I have met and made (online) friend's with a number of people, some of them, I think, special friends.

Almost everything that I most enjoyed about Lush is, at the moment at least, either more difficult, not possible or less enjoyable.

I am not planing on going anywhere and I hope that story writing goes back to being the pleasure that it was.

Mother-in-law worked for me, although I had to "create" it as a new tag. I don't see that white space on the couple of published stories I checked. Ideally, the "preview" mode - I think that's what I'd call it - should show the story exactly as it will appear when published. Thank you for this but I seem to be having trouble with tags today, even using drop down and create. For instance, I wanted to use mother-in-law but (after several attempts) had to settle for motherinlaw. I might try to change the tags to what I actually want at some point before submitting. I do not think I am doing anything differently to my other recent stories, it is just not functioning properly for me today.

I always type direct to site (and save). I have done for my previous 199 stories so intend number 200 to be the same. I do not often have an authors note but was planning a bit of explanation for this story, but it is not essential.

Please... this is a poll for a reason. We need to answer at least the first 6 questions, but preferably all 12. I am finding almost every aspect of getting a story submitted and published more difficult than it was before, certainly, nothing is better. I hope that all of the problems regarding stories eventually get solved.

I enjoyed online chats on the original site (chat window) and now try to chat via messages, which is not as good but is just about acceptable.

I miss the BlackBox element from before because you could leave a message for a friend and they could see it and respond when they logged in. I suppose messages serves that purpose too.

As I am trying to say, purely from a selfish point of view, nothing is better than before (except the site not freezing/crashing), very little is as good and most is not as good although hopefully, one day, that gap might get closed.

Just to add, I access Lush via a desktop computer which is the only way that I have of getting the internet. I might buy a tablet/ipad one day! My mobile phone is very old and very basic.
