EDIT: Oops. Sorry.
According to the late Kurt Cobain, one of the proudest moments of his career was when he was notified that Weird Al wanted to parody Smells Like Teen Spirit.
I've not read "50 shades," but I will say that the above picture is proof positive that its author Has Arrived.

Yeah, that's about it. The munches I've gone to have been *entirely* vanilla in terms of activity. Sort of like a cocktail party. Some folks dress *slightly* provocatively, but the munches I have gone to have been in public places. YMMV, of course.
I did bring up this analogy yesterday while chatting, but it's something I had been pondering for a whole before then. And I expanded on it a little today while thinking about it.
As for how many people are submissive... I do believe that it's a predisposition based on gender - women tend towards submissiveness and men tend towards dominance. But in saying that I don't wish to imply that there is any less or greater value to those who differ. Those predispositions do not equate to value judgements.
Folks, YKINOK isn't friendly. Let's have some respect.
That said, I've not tried this. It sounds like it would be... painful?
Nobody asked for my opinion, but I feel like pontificating.
I'm a dominant, and personally lack a submissive mindset, so everything I know is secondhand. But I think I've managed to piece together a little bit of insight.
I'd like to bring forward exhibit #1: The modern roller coaster.
Why do people like them? Surely it's not as a mode of transportation, per se. A roller coaster lets you out at nearly the exact same place as you got on. It can't be the speed. Cars on the freeway go in some cases twice as fast. The answer that immediately comes to mind is that the rides are thrilling. But why? It's because of the lack of control. A roller coaster is thrilling because it is unpredictable, and it is unpredictable because the rider has no control. People will line up, sometimes for an hour, to cede control of their position and velocity to a machine. But why is that, in and of itself, thrilling? People have the same lack of control when they board a train, but that doesn't have the same level of excitement. Roller coasters are thrilling because they have a perception of danger to them, coupled with that lack of control.
In the United States last year, there were about 8,000 emergency room visits caused by accidents relating to amusement park rides. That sounds like a lot, but by contrast, we *kill* more than 30,000 people every year in cars. Clearly, roller coasters are safe - orders of magnitude safer than cars. And yet, riding in a car is not at all (or at least, is not supposed to be) "thrilling." So it's certainly not a lack of *actual* safety that drives the thrill factor of roller coasters, merely the *perception*.
Can you see the parallels I'm drawing here? Submissives seek to cede control over themselves to a dominant. The thrill they get from doing so is the *perception* that doing so is unsafe, while in actuality, they must, of course, be confident that they are safe in their dominant's hands.
Not everyone is a submissive, but then, not everyone likes roller coasters either.
I've used "feminine treasures" once or twice. That works best in cases where modesty is being overruled...
Highly dominant - top 5%.
Perhaps I'm unusual - I actually write my stories in the story editor rather than write them offline and paste them in.
I have become accustomed to occasionally previewing the story and clicking 'save draft.' My feature request would be for a javascript on the page to just save my draft every 30 seconds or so for me.
Perhaps this could be enabled for pre-submission stories only. Once a story is submitted, you don't want to "save it" automatically like that, as that implies a trip back to the approval queue. That should be explicitly demanded by the user.
I must be weird. I actually write and edit my stories right here in the story editor. I use the 'save draft' feature a lot and come back a couple of times before a typical short story is finished.
I can respect the desire to self-identify. However, I do wish to respectfully ask this:
If there is no difference between the two, why do you choose one over the other? In my mind, "slave" is not derogatory or anything other than descriptive. But, perhaps, my mindset is not universal. If you say that there's no difference... Then what's the difference?
To me, the only difference is that a slave is one full time as opposed to a submissive, who submits only during scenes.
Slaves have limits just like anyone. Where those limits are varies, of course, but there is no such thing as a no-limit slave. There are slaves whose limits are beyond those of their masters. That scenario might be describable as "no-limit," in the sense that the slave's limit is not restrictive, since the master does not desire to exceed it. But even if I were capable of ordering it, there are things no slave should ever want to do just because I say so.
I bring all that up because I firmly do not believe limits are in any way a defining characteristic in differentiating submissives from slaves.
In Operation Peticoat, Cary Grant said it best:
"When a girl is under [18], she's protected by law. When she's over 65, she's protected by nature. Anywhere in between, she's fair game. Look out."
Very pretty pictures, and a nice background too.
