Morning, Rumpies wave

I like to play along with the judges, too. smile I feel like I know the podium picks in this one, and agree with you that way more than ten are Top Ten worthy. There’s just a lot of quality writing on this site right now.

And… I’m looking at the Diddy trial updates each day. Why? Because the only thing scarier to me than a man who’s a monster is a man who’s a monster and has a billion dollars. sad

I’ll be in my corner sitting looking for a comfy spot on the big furball to sit and finish writing. :)

Kimmi.. I think you should post your Top 3.. we all could, then compare it when the results come out.. it's hardly going to sway the judges at this stage.. you up for it?

I understand categories help people to find stories they are interested in more easily. I'm not sure keeping some just for a small number of people who want to have written a story about 'everything' is justified. (They won't have in reality, of course, but that's no bad thing in my book.) Even what something is 'about' is subjective to a degree, and not always because 60% of it is about 'x', and 40% about 'y'.

I don't mean the category was created to cater for the Omniums, I meant that the only people who seem to write in that category are those going for Omnium because you have to write in them all. Sometimes if I'm feeling bored, I will change the category of a story as lots of stories can fit into different categories. A nurse has a lesbian affair - oooh.. does that go in lesbian, or medical, or cheating, or occupations or uniforms.. is it a sub/Domme affair so could it go in yada yada yada.. you get the picture, so pick a category and don't worry any more about it.

Maybe I'll give it a look. Steampunk leaves me cold for some reason, even if I've read some stuff that's kind of ancestral to it. Seems to be one of those genres with a checklist of tropes and too much of the steampunk I read seems to be about checking off items on the list. Probably I am being unfair.

Just posting again due to it not all being visible

I think you make a reasonable point, Ape. 😊 In this story, I researched what steampunk is and then introduced those elements into the story. So we've got blimps, steam, top hats and goggles, but I don't think they detract from the story. I could easily remove them, replace them with smoke and Victorian fashion and publish the story under historical.

However, the Onimium Badge says a story has to be published in every genre, so steampunk it is. I only have around 8 genres to go for that badge.

Interestingly, a little while back, I undertook a private LS survey as to which was the most popular genre to the least popular. Yes, I did count every story published. Not surprisingly, the most popular was I/F, followed by straight sex. Least popular is face sitting, followed by strap-on sex. FYI – steampunk was 4th from the bottom on that list.

I doubt much has changed in the last 6 months. 😊

Face sitting was introduced a few years back to almost universal indifference. No one knows why it was singled out. I think its mainly omniums in there... same as to why a strapon isnt a toy, uniforms are separate from occupations, while a nurse can be medical, uniform and occupation... why is wife lover different from cheating or cuckold and why isnt monster sex part of fantasy or supernatural

Except the post would be empty because all the words would be removed by the filter 🤣

Revealed.. the Lush list of banned words

Quote by wxt55uk

I recently wrote a gay-male story, and after research, I decided that I wanted to use the word "twink".

Having no idea whether it was on the green list, grey list, or red list of naughty words, I asked privately for clarification. The advice I got was to search the published stories for that word to see if any stories included it.

That worked for me as 4 pages of stories came back... so that word was included in my story. 😊

I always find it weird that you dont know a word is banned until you submit it.. i felt horrified the first time.. being told i'd used a rude word.. but it's a sex site and to be fair, the mod said it was the right word to use in the context but it was still banned...

Maybe we need the big list of banned words published somewhere?

Does that mean i can't play Fairytale of New York by the Pogues in here at Christmas then?

I am interested in converting some of my older and upcoming stories to audio.

Where would one find people willing to read and record audio files (for a fee of course)?

Would leveraging an AI site like naturalreaders.com to produce an audio file be suitable or is that off limits?

Thanks!

Natural readers is anything but natural. Fiverr.com is a good resource for voice actors,

I'd a whole multi-chapter story almost finished when the site was redesigned. I ended up turning a few bits into stand alone stories.. i like the gameplay aspect of it.. mine was a bit dark in places.. he gets the girl if you make the right choices but wrong ones included being punched, stabbed, caught by a jealous bf and going home alone.

I liked the car.. at that stage he was so done for... the toy was delicious too though... i'd do an addendum later.. the further exploits of her still teasing the future/ father in law or mother in law hehe

Can I ask, my idea is set between 1945 and 1974. It's based on a real story from history. No-one living is involved. But does it count as historical? Thanks!

I dont see why not.. they teach the 1990s in A level history but you can choose whatever category you think it fits best

I'm setting mine on Skellig Michael, location for Luke Skywalker's hideaway planet in episode 7

Is there a glitch the means you can't upload an image to a group using the upload function?

Every time I try it, I get a down for maintenance message but I can upload an image to my gallery and then post it to the group..

If you can't upload directly to groups, can that option be disabled? it is very confusing.

It's kinda funny that the words "g mail" & "ya hoo" are blocked. But the likes of "Trillian" is not blocked. From my observations, most people in the chatrooms mention Trillian more than they do "g mail" & "ya hoo". They also have their Trillian contact details typed in their profile bio's. Kind of defeats the purpose of spammers, scammers & genpop from sharing external contact details, in my opinion.

Then they'll use shorthand.. do you trill or trill me for example

Question.. does anyone still believe the Israeli army/ government that they didnt murder paramedics and rescue workers and the Israeli forces then attempted to hide the crime by burying the bodies and vehicles in the sand? Video evidence has now emerged that they had their emergency lights on, refutting claims they didnt have their lights on?

Just wondering?

I want to write but am back to flailing from idea to idea again. My drafts folder is filling up fast and that's not counting the ones I shuffled off to an "archive" folder to maybe revisit someday.

Lapsang and a slice of that cake.

I know what you mean.. ive got snippets of stories waiting to be connected and stories started but never finished

I agree with Kimmi.. the last bit about "and torture" doesnt make sense.

Also, rhe sentance beginning "She gathers information..." is very long. I'dput a full stop in there somewhere.

Id perhaps tell less about the build up to being captured and dangle a hint of what could or might happen next.. but that's just me.

Happy St Patrick's Day.

I'll have a gin and tonic please, James. I must say green suits you.

Gunpowder Gin for preference. This gin is distilled in Drumshambo, Co Leitrim and gets mentioned in Father Ted in relation to the Drumshambo Massacre something Father Jack, the alcoholic priest was involved in.

That's an aside that goes over the heads of most of you, I'm sure.

Anyway, we've got the Day off as our National holiday so perhaps I'll stay and work my way down the bar.. maybe a whiskey next. Carl used to keep a botte of Jamesons hidden away.

Ive been busy writing again. Pavlov's kitty seems to be going down as well as this Jamesons.. or the boy in my gay male story, the tutorial

Sláinte

Pavlov's Kitty

Maybe Pavlov was onto something?

Mind Control

Not much Jack Daniels being drunk these days.. maybe a nice scotch instead.. an Islay malt perhaps?

The author who publishes doesn’t get the collaborator badge but if you are named as a contributing author on 3 stories published by other writers then you get it.

Mr Ape.. if chasing views, shove the sex in asap.. if wanting to write a story, put the sex in at the right time. Youve never struck me as a vote chaser, so why start now? If the story drags me in, i wont care how long til they have sex.. i might be willing them to get on with it but only because you create that chemistry, not because im counting words

Congratulations to the wonderful top 3... as a non poet, it was nice to sit this out and just read and enjoy. And nice to see a new face on top of the pile. Congrats Ascendant x

Congrats also to fillelapine on 4th. Her poem really spoke to me.

Looking forward to the next comp already

I feel this is a fair point... yes, I have in the past been spammed for likes.

However, I like to feel that as the site grows, it could kept under review. 😊

I've never worked out why people ask for likes and favourites at the end of their stories.

It makes them sound so needy. I may be curmudgeonly but it makes me not like or favourite on principle.

I can never upload gifs over 2 or 3Mb. I always get the down for maintenance message.

Is there a file size limit? Or does it depend on internet connection speed or which way the wind is blowing?
