I'm working on my first submission. Found a good image on DeviantArt that is creative commons.

The image when resized to 512 wide is shorter than 800 high but that leaves room on a 512x800 canvas to add both the artist credit and the CC BY-NC-ND 3.0 notice, both required for Creative Commons image use.

Is that okay to do? I'm hoping to submit the story with cover image before the end of June. Intellectual property rights are important to me so I have to follow the rules when using a Creative Commons image and would rather they be text on the image file itself, in the resulting top/bottom white margin from fitting it onto a 512x800 image.

I can do bold sans-serif which survives a resize better.

Unrelated Side Note - "The Once and Future Kink" is a great title, I'm going to have to find it, the book the title parodies was a favorite in my youth.

There is a good cover creator now in lush that let's you design the cover bringing in an image and choosing a font from their selection. You can resize/crop the image to fit best and add whatever text you want. You just click on the add cover box in the page where you are writing the story

As a writer working on omnium now, can I second the objection to watersports? I got around by making it a story within a story... The really was a fantasy. But watersports? Ewwww! I'm holding my nose and doing a very silly entry that I hope will be OK. I do find I only write hot stories in scenarios I find hot and you can usually tell when my heart isn't in it🙄

I found Love Stories and Mind Control the hardest categories... the Omnium really pushes you. Thankfully you don't have to do

Amusingly watersports was the first category I wrote on Lush, back before my comp years and I was invisible LOL to everyone except those who like that kind of thing. I think the hardest categories for me are gonna be Humor, Cos I don't think I'm that funny, but if I binge watch enough sitcoms and stand-up I might stumble upon something, and then the True category, mostly because of my actual experiences are not all that great, that's probably why I write so much, cos my fantasies are more satisfying than any awkward attempts at doing things with people for real. When you go to submit the story, it goes to preview mode first. Is the erratic spacing visible then? Can you go back and fix it then or does it only appear once you submit finally?

No, sadly not. They took all the stats that assisted authors away.

You have to go to your stories, then search.. and go through the genres one by one and see which ones are empty.

Good luck with getting the Omnium back... you probably are only missing the facesitting.. I had to write in that to get my Omnium back too x

I think quite a few of my stories would make good films. i tend to write visually.. with actions rather than emotions.. I think absinthe makes the heart grow fonder would make a great movie too.. time travel.. love.. artists, Paris.. it's got it all really

Those instructions were all for the old site. Now, you just go back to edit the story, add a series title at the bottom. You can reedit the stories in the series via the stories page on your profile. Just click on the series button, choose the series you want to reorder and move them up or down.

It's something we've always done since before the switch to the new version of Lush.

Switching to just "Lush" dismisses the identity of this site that's rooted in stories. Not to mention, it'd be a shot in the foot because just Lush is a thriving (yet in my opinion shitty and overrated) cosmetics brand. No sense in fighting for our identity when we already have one, which is why that's not happening. As noted above, it was no more than a blip.

I was trying to be diplomatic but exactly. The stories should be the heart of the site and I was worried that just calling it Lush forgets that. Thanks for putting it so eloquently

I’d agree with Kimmi. Congratulations and the cover is fine but I’d centre the bear and scale it down a little so the nose is above the text. I’d probably go for a sans serif or slab font but that’s just me. The font you have points to a classic or more delicate story than the ones I write.

We all know which site we are on, so why withdraw something which makes smaller interfaces more streamlined?

People rarely call it "LushStories" when onsite and refer it to "Lush", so the shorter header also reflects that.

It was a cosmetic change which makes sense. If it's to be withdrawn because three people think Lush isn't about the stories anymore, they might aswell change the header to "LushStories.com" to remind the handful of people that keep referring to an app that it's indeed a website. 🤷‍♀️

I’m sorry if I come across as a paranoid delusional but I feel since the move to lush 2.0 there has bern more interest and development in the other aspects of the community here than in the stories. In my original post, I merely questioned if this rebrand on mobile devices was the first step in an acknowledgment that Lush is more than just the stories. If it is, that’s fine but be honest about it. You might vote Tory but you are still voting for the Conservative Party so you might refer to Lush but people still publish their stories on lushstories.

This was what the header looked like a couple of days ago so doesnt look like a space saving issue the lush is the same size just the stories is missing

Take it to the graveyard. Dig up a freshly dug grave and leave the body on top of the coffin lid. It’ll be easy to dig as it’s just been freshly filled in. Fill it in. No pile of disturbed earth to give it away and nice and deep to keep carrion away. I read it in a book. The blokes who did it couldn’t keep quiet and blabbed about it down the pub so got caught. My first story here didn't get published, for which I am eternally grateful.

My first published story The Restaurant still holds up pretty well. It was a lesbian story with a Domme, a needy submissive and a twist in the tale.. 160 stories later, I seem to be still exploring the same themes.

Her husband was having a nap. 

She crept away and into the garden.

The gardener had his shirt off.

Make it rhyme like a song or something. As long as you write something slightly more poetic than starting with “there once was a girl from Nantucket” and end with “fuck it” you should be ok

I don't like the slash.. might be more pleasing to just be "has published across all our categories" and if you really want the info about the tag, have an * with you don't have to write about if you don't want to" or something at the bottom of the page.

I have bowed out of the coin economy for now anyway. Gave tips to two favourite authors to clear out my "bank" and not in a rush to refill it. Quite happy without them.

I think rules around coins were always a bit of a joke.. just funny how people promised it was going to be all pure and about the writers.. like the whole site was going to be about the writers lol

You can't use coins in chat at all as we specifically wanted to avoid this. The spirit of it is to reward authors not performers. We will keep a close eye on it to make sure it's not being abused in any way.

Interesting how that all panned out. Came across a profile with this in the About section.. she's not an author, no stories published but is using the coins exactly the way Utterchaos predicted

Believe it or not, Cumgirl got her Omnium way back in 2021 shortly after mine

When I got the Omnium I was the 12th and James posted a list of the dirty dozen Omniums. At that time Brookall and Sholbin83 both already had their Omnium and have now both been relegated to a prolific writer. Boston babe was the 11th to get the badge but she seems to have left. So no rhyme or reason as to why some writers kept theirs and some lost them in the switchover to v2

It’d be nice I think if Brookall and Sholbin83 could be given theirs back
