On a lighter note, as for MY high points, i joined and met some wonderful people, posted some stories, kind of became a regular, sort of fell in love with an amazing girl.

Other things i've seen happen, Gav put up some new permenent chat rooms and tweaked a few things, like being able to order your friends on the friends list, and your stories on your stories list, so really, from my POV it was the year of the GAV.

Should I retire now, on a high so to speak, or am I still eligible for the crown next year too?

I suspect 2011 will be a much bigger year for Lush.

Gav, can you just confirm... when you 'soft-block' a friend, can they still see you in the forums when you go into a thread? I believe that even when one is in 'invisible mode' right now, your name still shows up at the bottom of forum sections when you are in there. Just wondering if the same is true for people we put on 'soft-block'?

I'm afraid so, yes. The forum software shows the members viewing a thread, thats outside of my control. The list at the bottom of the forum home page plus members online are all under my control, so the soft-block is enforced.

Successfully blocked jebru. They are still your friend, they can contact you but they cannot see you online. To block them completely, delete them as a friend.

When you block a friend, you will see this message at the top of the page. I was asked to add this feature so that you could go online without being nagged by certain friends. This allows you to ghost in friends, without having to go through the whole Dear John explanation of why your deleting them.

I'm assuming Alan doesn't have this problem; girls with hot pictures rarely annoy you when going online dontknow

There is no way for someone to "hack" your computer whilst surfing on Lush. You would need to be directed to a malicious site for any of that nasty business to occur.

Judging by the message I receive when someone removes their account, most likely they have either discovered god, or a partner has found out their Lush secret.

Looks like some people did not like me removing those chat window popups. For those of you who liked the chat requests to pop out to a new window with no intervention, then there is a new option on your settings page:

Popup Chat Windows - Open chat window requests automatically

This is off by default.

With my latest publish, the site works with adBlock running.

Also, there are no more random popup windows appearing when you receive a chat request. Instead, you will receive an online message telling you that you are receiving a chat request. This should alleviate any browser issues with popup blockers.

I have been alerted (thanks bunny) that profile backgrounds and images posted on friends pages were missing. This has been fixed now.

My reward for coding this site? Knowing there are thousands of people getting off using my code on a daily basis.

I am in the process of migrating everyone's avatar from our servers here in LA, to a cloud storage solution hosted by Amazon (of book fame). Initially, your custom avatar will disappear. As the migration script executes it *should* magically re-appear. This process should take no longer than an hour.

Failing that I have done something dramatically wrong and I shall retire to my cave in Afghanistan and live the rest of my life out playing solitaire.

Ok we have two kinds of block now. If you block a member who is not your friend, then they cannot see you online, or contact you at all, as before.

A soft block is where you block a friend. The still have all the privileges of being your friend, seeing locked parts of your profile, contacting you via PM or online message, however, they cannot see you whilst you are online.

Is this what people expect?

I have released a new version of Lush, adding the following new features:

- Drag and drop you friends to re-order them
- Soft block off your friends. You can now block your friends individually so they cannot see you online.
- Various other bug fixes

Hi

I've made some chanes to the My Stories page.
There are now two dates included in the first column, the date you submitted the story to Lush and the date it actually appeared on the home page. The published column has been moved and now includes a tooltip of the reason for rejection, if it was rejected by a moderator. I also have added the option to reorder your stories for your profile page (as requested by Tommie). If you have a large number of stories its probably going to be quite painful, sorry!

I have also included a list of members viewing your profile page, left hand column right above the forum posts (requested by Bunny12).

If you spot any problems, let me know.

The latest smart phones (IPhone and Andriod) have browsers that want to be treated like real browsers (I'm a real browser, in my best pinocchio voice), and not shown a crippled/cut down version of a site made for mobiles.

A dedicated IPhone application for Lush isnt a bad idea. I'll have a think about it.
