Hi Daisy,

It's not a scam.

When all the accounts on the desktop site were ported into the mobile platform, I believe the email subscription settings weren't set to "none" by default (our partners who are testing out the new mobile platform for us want to encourage people using it of course). Quite a few people are a little confused, as we've never really used email marketing on the desktop side of things.

The mobile site is set up in such a way they try to encourage members to enter details about themselves, so you're more likely to find people you might like to befriend - to encourage social interaction across the site.

You can log in with your desktop UN / PW and turn off the emails in the settings. You might have to enter any old info into the other sections first, fake or otherwise!

Sorry for the inconvenience! These kind of things happen when running 2 versions of the same site, one for desktop users and one for mobile.

Just a heads up (thanks Jen!) that the so called UK "Porn Block" has been delayed.

It's been ill-thought-out and mis-managed from the off.

For now, we'll be leaving the site as is for our UK visitors.
The private conversations I had tonight I will treasure.

Thank you all

Drinks on the house! (sorry Rump, how much has your personal fortune dwindled as a result of this place?).

As one of the original made men, I think you can wear it!

So good right?

I thought it was tied up nicely with a thoughtful crisp ending. I don't need a second season. I just hope they don't make a watered down American version of it like the did with the office.

The British way of a six episode season is perfect.

Did you see Gervais's comments when a journalist asked him how he felt that the American version of "The Office" was more successful than the British version? He replied, "Even richer".

For the record, the original was far better. So awkward it was hard to watch.

I think both "Derek" and "After Life" were so uniquely British black humour, there's no danger of those ever having watered down versions made for overseas. Particulary for the US who tend to like less subtle humour.
What a wonderful selection, for such a lovely person.

Very well deserved accolade Elizabeth.
The award and $100 prize for Moderating Machine of the Month, goes to someone who is as reliable as a Swiss watch.

I call her a machine, as she regularly processes 100 to 200 stories each month.

In February alone, she verified 178 stories.

Firstblush, thank you so much for all your hard work. Please slow down or you'll burn out your mechanism!

Please everyone give it up for the wonderful Jai!

Ricky Gervais just came out with a new series on Netflix. The writing is so good. Extremely funny with a very dark edge. Very British humor which I love.

I binged the whole thing last weekend. Superb!

He's writing a second series to it apparently.

I'm not sure if that's going to work as well, as it kind of came to a natural conclusion. There's a lot of strong characters, so I think he'll be able to pull it off.

"Derek" was good too, although it was very dark and awkward to watch in places (my grandmother was in a nursing home for 20 years, and had lost her marbles pretty much before she even stayed there).

Been looking for a fixer upper cheap gaming laptop and came across this gem (described sarcastically) on Ebay:

Sager Clevo P170E
- As is for parts or repair $199.99 or best offer

- Does not include CPU, RAM, Hard Drive, or MXM Video Card.

Seriously though, who would buy this for $200? It's 6 years old. There are several that are in working condition for a similar price.

Oh well...nerdy girl rant of the day over lol.

Some chancer!

I'm still on a laptop which was very high end back in the day, but is 9 years old. I never want to change it!

It's fast, no problems, viruses seem to just dissipate, and it now feels like part of my family.

Why did my poem, 'She Brings me Cream and Rubs my Belly' not win? I demand a recount.

It did it for me.

Are users allowed to post stories in another language other than English? I saw one story in Spanish and am curious.

No.

The reason being if we don't have a Moderator who speaks the language the story is submitted in, we aren't able to verify it.
We're working hard behind the scenes on this.

As a temporary measure for UK surfers, we may have to close off all areas of the site which contain adult content (images / videos). UK surfers will be served up essentially a text only version of the site. New members will get the same, but be able to use the commenting, voting, messaging services, and submit stories.

The government department responsible advises that provided the content is behind a pay wall, we should be ok. So UK members (with free access) will need to upgrade to a Bronze or above membership if they wish to keep using the site as they do now. At less than $1 a month, that's not a massive stretch I'd have thought.

We will undoubtedly lose a lot of traffic and perhaps some members too, because of this idiotic Draconian approach. But non-compliance means we'll lose ALL our UK traffic, as we'll get blocked at ISP level.

There's also threats that non-compliant websites will be seized (highly unlikely they'd be able to do that to a non-UK registered and hosted site), or us being fined etc etc..

The whole thing has been handled as badly as Brexit.

I looked into using a 3rd party age verification service as the Govt suggests. The cost for the number of UK surfers we have, works out to be about 10 x what the site earns!

If the Govt were serious about it, they would manage it properly. Issue online passes to people, and give webmasters tools to implement it FREE.
Colour me irate ...

This forum is set for 2 hours ahead of me. Can I fix that?

I'm not sure it's ever worked properly I'm afraid! I'll ask Gav to take a look.
There were some wonderful entries to this competition, and the judging process was rather challenging.

I'm delighted to announce the 1st place prize goes to CurvyGalore for her almost Brontë-esque period piece, "End of the Masquerade."

Congratulations too go to TangerineSky and WannabeWordsmith:

1st Place ($150 Prize): End of the Masquerade, by curvygalore
2nd Place ($100 Prize): Capable, by TangerineSky
3rd Place ($50 Prize): Royal Crush, by WannabeWordsmith

Kicking at their heels, were these excellent entries:

Peaches, by AylaJ
March Moon, by Lauradj
Time Out, Time In, by edgiver83
Ass Over Tea Kettle, by AuntieHelen
Of Love and Lush, by Milik_the_Red
A Bridge to the Past, by Green_Man
Love's Labour's Won?, by CuriousAnnie

I highly recommend giving all these stories a read if you haven't already.

A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to enter this competition. There were some great stories which didn't make the Top 10.

A new competition will be announced shortly.

To the winners, I'll be in touch regarding your prizes.

Cheers,

Nicola

P.S. The badges are being worked on!
Hi Banes1.

The mobile site is intended primarily for surfers who solely use the mobile site.

We've found there's very little crossover between desktop to mobile in the past.

Importing hundreds of thousands of images, stories, comments, votes etc etc., is a massive undertaking. It's proved problematic as we are running 2 platforms.

So we're making do as best as we can at the moment, with the view of having only one site with all our existing features, down the track. That might be quite some time away though.

I have gone into the admin panel and deleted your profile there. I don't know how long the cache is for, but it should be gone soon. I'll double check with the guys at HQ.

Sorry for the confusion. We're still ironing out the teething problems of synchronising 2 different sites.

We're still tinkering with the logistics of this one at the moment, so bear with us

Thanks Jen. I was just going to post a similar message.

Considerations:

- Identifier / method of warning members the story may contain adult content. People won't want any surprises if viewing the site in a public area.

- Softcore or hardcore images allowed?

- Image number limit.

- Disallow images in certain categories.

- Only allow image uploading / disallow hotlinking from external sites.

These are all being discussed behind the scenes currently.

The mechanics are in place.
Welcome to the site Sofia.

I'm sure you'll find this place friendly, enlightening and a great source of entertainment.

Best of luck with your publishing endeavours.

How are you getting on with KDP? We had over 50 titles in there at one stage, but the competition is fierce and we decided to pull the plug on our ebook publishing department a few years ago.
I think you underestimate the intelligence of our membership black1!

It's called "playing along"
The deadline is fast approaching.

A reminder that all stories need to meet the 10 vote minimum to qualify for the competition.

Leaving your entry to the last minute, will likely mean it won't reach that mark.

So please get your entries in sooner rather than later!
It is with great pleasure to announce that MollyDoll has won our first Moderator of the Month award of 2019.

She always shows great professionalism and politeness. 2 attributes I've managed to fake my whole career!

On a more serious note, Molly has done a fantastic job on the story queue over the last few months. In January alone, she processes around 100 submissions.

Thank you Molly. You have mail!

Still craving picture-stories.

Current software has the ability, it just needs to be turned on.

Bumping up !

Hi Beccy,

Which site? Please PM me! The one designed by a smurf has had that option for years and years, but it has few stories in there in comparison to other categories.

It's still on the rather lengthy to-do list I'm afraid.

The mobile site revamp has taken up most of our coding resources for the last 4 months.

I like the idea. The mechanics need to be put into place first though. It's not as simple as turning something on.

Gav needs to integrate an identifier so that stories with photos in them, are clearly marked (most people prefer no images so they can conjure up scenes in their mind). The number of images needs to be restricted, so it doesn't become a visual spam fest (10?). Add an "Insert Image" option to the story submission page. Add a checkbox to signal the story contains images. Things like that.

I'll send a love note to our man in the machine!

Cheers,

Nicola

This is a story that was in the now closed Story Vault. If you click on the first story you'll see the display date has been changed to Apr 2019. The system recognizes it as a 'new' story yet to be front-page posted despite the original date from 2016.

Nicola has posted an announcement regarding this. https://forum.lushstories.com/yaf_postst69038_The-Vault-has-now-been-retired.aspx

She's giving the authors fresh exposure on the front page as a thank you for their generosity in allowing their stories to be 'hidden' in the Vault.

Thank you!
Thanks Green_Man.

Apologies for the downtime.

I got an email earlier advising that the servers the mobile site are on (totally new platform to the desktop version), were undergoing some maintenance, and when they were rebooted, for some reason the site didn't come back up properly.

The tech guys are working on the reason why, and hopefully making sure it doesn't happen again.

Now we need to retire "The Sprite"!

Finally ...

See me in my office. You know what to take off before entering.
