I haven't been through the other 20 pages of this thread, but hopefully it hasn't been posted already!

Thank you flyer_uk.

It's the first time I've heard of this issue.

Glad it's all sorted out.
When the going gets tough, the tough get going. And when the site gets busy, and the story queue is growing out of control, there's always one person who pitches in, and helps rally the troops.

A huge thank you to Buz, for helping out tremendously over the hectic holiday period.
Saucymh, Sweet as Candy, KatieElizabeth, Ruthie, Jen and Delphi, also deserve a mention, for putting in a lot of hard yards in December, on the story queue in particular.

I am sure you can find a use for the $100 prize Buz. Perhaps head to a Wildcats game? (I had to look that up)
This competition brought out some very entertaining and creative stories. It was nice to start the New Year with some light-hearted relief.

There were so many good entries, we decided to create a Top 12. Even so, many of our more "established" authors, didn't make the list. That's testimony to the quality and depth of authors we now have on LS.

Well done to Sprite, NaughtyAnnie, and Burquette, for your winning entries:

1st Place ($150) - Oh Christmas Goat, Oh Christmas Goat, by sprite
2nd Place ($100) - It's Behind You!, by naughtyannie
3rd Place ($50) - Fifteen Shopping Days 'Till Christmas, by Burquette

Making up the Top 12, were these excellent stories:

Platinum Haze, by MadMartigan
Stuck On You, by Jen
Muff Nudge, by WannabeWordsmith
Dear Diary, by Saucymh
Masquerading, by browncoffee
Getting Off, by NymphWriter
My Secret Santa Sucked, by bad_mann_ers
The Xmas Buzz, by GoNE68
Mrs. Patterson, by jhmik_88

Thank you to everyone who took part in this competition. The standards were really high, and it was a difficult task to draw up the shortlist, let alone decide on the winners.

A fair number of the stories were very well crafted, but didn't really encapsulate the theme, which of course, is a major judging criteria.
Talking of which, I'd also like to thank all the judges, who took time away from their festivities, to read through the stories.

A new competition will be announced shortly.

Cheers,

Nicola x
The results were actually scheduled to be announced on the 12th.

The date of the results being pencilled in for announcement, is always shown on the competition page, whilst the competition is open. It's generally around 10-14 days after the competition closes off, to allow the judges enough time to read all the entries carefully.

I'm totting up the results now. Stay tuned
Considering 92% of New Year's Resolutions fail, I don't think I'll bother. The odds are already against me!

But if I did have one (ok, two), it would be to meditate and exercise more.

What is / are yours, if you are going to participate?
Congratulations TonyaL! You look good wearing the new badge

Well done Oceanrunner, for running such a fun and spicy promotion =d>
This has been a terrible year, for some musical greats to depart this world.

David Bowie, Prince and George Michael. 3 artists who gave their all for their craft.

R.I.P. George Michael.
R.I.P. George Michael. You were one heck of an entertainer:

Well, 2016 was a rather "eventful" year. I'll be very glad to see the back of it. Hopefully 2017 will be an improvement.

A big thanks to all our Moderators who did an exceptional job throughout the year, to Gav, for all his hard work on the servers and behind the scenes, and to all our contributors, members and readers, who make this such a wonderful community (best run-on sentence ever!).

I wish you all a Merry Xmas, and a Happy New Year.

Take care, and look after each other.

Nicola xx

Leave a positive word for 2017, that starts with the third letter of your (member) name.

It can only be one word.

Compassion.
Such a well thought out and executed promotion Mike.

It looks like even your most avid followers, are going to find this one quite tricky.

Best of luck everyone!
That is quite some achievement Mysteria, that few, if any (?), have matched.

Congratulations!

There is "The Think Tank" forum, for subjects requiring deeper thought.

However, I don't believe discussions of the nature you outlined in your example, really belong on a site such as this. We are not here to moralise.

History has taught us, that even if those questions were supposedly "asked with the right intentions and to stimulate intellectual debate", they usually end up attracting people I'd rather not have on the site, who aren't interested in that at all. I've seen it far too many times.
That's a shame rosesrred. If you'd like to PM me, I'll try and help in any way I can (if it's anything site related, or otherwise!).

I am happy to gift your membership to another member if that's what you'd like. Please just let me know.
Wow, doesn't time fly when you're having fun!

I guess we're officially 10!

A huge thank you to everyone who's published, scored, and commented on stories and poems here, those who've actively participated in the forums, created entertaining profiles, spent time chatting and messaging each other, uploaded photos and videos etc.. You make the site what it has become today, a wonderful community of like-minded, fun, intelligent, sexy individuals.

A special shout out, to all the moderators who've helped out over the years. Without whom, this site wouldn't be around in the form it is.

And of course, a big tip of the hat to Gav, who's kept the servers well oiled, and dealt with every technical challenge thrown at him, over the last decade.

Thank you one and all!

It was an easy decision to nominate Callisto, as November's Moderator of the month.

After 5 years of being our core site administrator, "real life" circumstances, have forced her hand, and she's stepping down from the role.

I am sure everyone would agree, she has been absolutely brilliant around the site, and she will be sorely missed.

A huge thank you for everything you've done for us here Callisto. I wish you all the best

Nicola xx

I've always been one of those people who never knew what a Hijinks is, but always thought they were three lines long and that is it. Let alone trying to make it 2000 words. Best of luck to those who do enter!

A traditional Japanese hijinks is a three-line poem with seventeen syllables, written in a 5/7/5 syllable count.

Get writing Poppet! You know you want to. I'll not enforce the syllable count!
No candles?

Happy Birthday D!

Wishing you a wonderful birthday in the sun (*so jealous*).

Holiday Hijinks Competition

To welcome in the holiday season, we are running a competition themed with light-hearted fun in mind.

Hijinks are examples of mischief or merrymaking that are often disruptive or rowdy. They are activities that are fun: getting into trouble, but not serious trouble.

Phrases often associated with hijinks, are: high energy, wildness, carefree antics, uninhibited mischief, unrestrained fun.

Competition Theme

Stories should contain some element relating to the Xmas / New Year holidays.

Perhaps an Office Xmas party gets a bit out of hand for several (or more) of the staff? A booked last minute ski resort wasn't exactly what a straight-laced couple had envisaged, when they discover it's a resort for swingers... A husband gets a few wishes on his Xmas sexual wishlist fulfilled? 2 strangers wake up naked and worse for wear on New Year's Day, wondering how they ended up in a locked Department store...

We are looking for short, punchy, entertaining stories. As such, the word limit is a scroogelike 2000 words for this competition.

Winner: $150
Second Place: $100
Third Place: $50

Full details can be found here.

Thanks Oceanrunner.

There are no pop up ads on the www version of LS, other than one asking if you'd like to join. Unless someone clicks on ads, that's it. The mobile site is a little "different", as we have less control on that platform.

I'm hesitant to restrict the Bronze Trial Memberships, for reasons you mention.

I've reported the person to half a dozen site / program owners today. They are spamming an ad network, trying to get the odd cent here and there, for a few clicks. Pretty sad / pathetic state of affairs really.
Thank you for the suggestions.

We don't use the forum software for our signup process, it's custom.

Gav has a long to-do list. It all helps to make the site more spam proof at the end of the day.

We'll probably do away with the trial bronze memberships. That will stop spammers in their tracks if they can't use any of the site features.

Might want to add a captcha to the sign up page.

By my reckoning you've had over 3000 new fake accounts set up today alone - if they all start spamming at once the server's going to grind to a halt

It's been there for a few weeks. Unfortunately, the captcha only halted the spammer briefly. Surprising, considering google designed it.

We will be implementing further measures in the coming weeks.

This type of thing happens on all large, successful sites, particularly "adult" ones. One I know, with 5 million + members, no longer accepts new members, unless they confirm who they are, via mobile phone verification, or are referred by a friend.

Spammers don't care about the inconvenience caused to members of a helpful community like this, set up with the best intentions. They are happy for a few dollars here and there from the sponsors they promote (it's a good idea to report the spammers directly to the sponsor as they are often unaware, allegedly).

Like most parasites, they are but a minor irritation. It's just annoying you guys have to endure their spam too. We're always working on ways to eradicate it.

i wish that, when people left, they'd leave their stories. i think it's a shame that he took them all with him.

I wonder if it would be an idea, to add a feature, so that when someone leaves, they have the option to leave their stories on the site if they wish, and just their profile gets deleted. Good idea?

Those stories would be paired to the email address of the person who submitted them, so should they ever want them removed, we'd have an easy way to verify the person.

A few people are having technical issues with our anti spam captcha (designed by google).

Please let us know which operating system you are using. It is probably JavaScript related, but it will help Gav narrow it down if he knows more details.

If you tick the box saying you're not a robot and press ok, what happens?
