Afternoon all, what I wouldn't give for a little snow. Still hot and humid though we are close to halfway through March.

Now I have a story announcement. And any remarks about me just wanting to get my category count up are as accurate as they are cynical.

It's a steampunk series ... the first chapter of which, Kimmi, is SPANKING. Here's the link, do go read my Victorian down under story:

Steampunk Sydney: The Governor, His Wife, A Lady-Engineer, … Plus One Harlot.

fyi, it's really well done and if you even have a passing interest in steampunk done well - or spanking stories done well - or just reading a really wonderful story, do me a favor and go read it.

Or Rach, find a teenager and ask. Do ignore the eye rolls 😇

lol my wife does eyerolls that rival any teen - i have become immune over the years smile

Sprite can walk on my carpet with dog poop on her shoes and I still will find her beautiful, intelligent, witty and so…well you know. Lush would be an empty shell without her comments and incredible stories. She makes want to…so frustrating that we walk on opposite sides of the street!

i don't walk. i kinda float...

Wasn't that kind of the point of expanding the number of nominees, though? So some big box office audience favorites could be nominated without cutting into the number of "serious" movies?

The Batman was a much better film and did well at the box office. smile

I write erotica. Your written threats do not scare me 🤭

Threats? This is me flirting flutters lashes

RE: Triangle of sadness. there were parts that i enjoyed - it's a total satire. that said, there are also parts that just didn't work and i hated how the director decided to end it. no spoilers, but yeah.

Quote by Seeker4

Hold it, The Whale didn't get nominated? I thought it was a favorite going in? Not that I pay much attention to the Oscars. Movies I like rarely get nominated, let alone win.

not for best picture, nope. best actor and best supporting actress is all. Not even for adapted screen play (it was originally a play). criminal since I think it's one of the 3 top films up for nominatioins along with Tar and The Fableman's.

after deleting most of the story and starting over i just finished up Space Girl chapter 3 and submitted it. Hopefully the next one won't take as long. on another note, watched The Whale last night. beautiful and heart breaking. Why it wasn't nominated for an Oscare and Triangle of Sadness was, i have no idea.

@Sprite, @cydia dared me to call you out after I accidentally submitted a story ahead of time. As a brat I cannot let that slide. I like to watch the world burn 🤭

fyi, doors are not the only thing i pee on. you have been warned. smile

as you can plainly see by my avatar, i am not only not the ring leader, but in fact a victim of a baseless mutiny by the crew. if someone feels a burning desire to play Errol Flynn and free me from these villainous pirates i'd be ever so grateful, if you know what i mean ;)

I'm sorry but...

The original post on this thread was completely inappropriate and should have been deleted immediately. If added nothing to the general guidance of story submission criteria and was merely a 'Moderator' venting their spleen after a difficult day, not for the first time.

But, we've all had them (difficult days that is).

However, the thread hardly qualifies as a 'Site Announcement'. It is also completely pointless and worthless as the only people reading and commenting on it are long standing and highly accomplished authors who if they chose to capitalise or use extended vowel and constanant sounds as part of a story would do so with a clear understanding of what they were trying to achieve.

I for one am always truly appreciative of the efforts that Story Moderators make in checking our stories. Without them there would be no site, but to have a Moderator threaten to ban an author 'at whim' simply is unacceptable.

A little while ago a 'Moderator' told me in a PM that if there were issues those were best resolved by a private message/conversation rather than making public statements. I think she should heed her own advice.

I'm reporting this thread and the comment above as I believe it constitutes bullying behaviour contrary to the sites Forum Guidelines. If I'm banned 'at whim' as a result of that, so be it.

don't be a drama queen. i was teasing Susie. if you seriously think i'd do something like that then you haven't been paying attention the last 12 or so years. if you think Lush would tolerate something like that, even from me, then you are seriously deluded. that said, if anyone truly was offended by my postings, you have my sincere apology and an assurance that it won't happen again. sorry for attempting to make some suggestions that will save author's time, mod's time, and help you write a better story in a humorous fashion. and no, it did not stem from having a bad day. it stemmed from the number of rejections for the issues outlined earlier. if people really want to keep sending in stories that will be instantly declined, that's their prerogative.

just to make it clear. LushStories publishes quality stories. it's a sense of pride for us and, I think, it's why people publish here. yes, i know our standards seem harsh to some, but most of the writers and readers who visit the site do so knowing that what goes on the front page is carefully vetted. in other words, we don't publish crap. a lot of the writers here take that to heart and, when they receive a rejection notice, strive to do better - and it shows and i'm proud of being part of that tradition. i think that a lot of us, myself included, have become better at our craft because of the standards we set here. the point of rejecting a story isn't meant as a power play. it's meant to help a writer improve upon what might be a great idea but poorly executed. our mods actually put a lot of work into giving advice on how to take an unpolished gem and turn it into a jewel and, again, it's something we are quite proud of.

I had ideas but never got any of them out before the migration. I vaguely recall a few attempts to use it, but it certainly was not widely used.

i am guessing not, tbh. it was kind of a weird feature in the first place.

how the fuck is everybody? welcome to another episode of things that annoy me... wait..,. wrong place. sorry! lol like to give a shout out to James - i just "rediscoverd the "don't call it the blue site, dammit" and found out he writes lullabyes... sort of. read the first one - it's good shit. His bear and girl stories. gonna read them all at some point. who knew? not knocking his erotica, but i think he's better at the non-sex shit. color me impressed. other shit to mention. congratz, Fluttered. that's a hell of a lot of writing. more than me - i have some catching up to do, shout out to all the regulars, btw, not going to list you cause i'll forget like ONE of you and that will spiral from hurt feelings to toxic posts and then become some sort of weird feud that ends in bloodshed. that said, also like to mention that Kimmi is also a writing machine and that Kirsten really should be dubbed the queen of the micros. one last thing, i know you all call him Ape, but dammit, Seeker is always gonna be Scooeter to me. lol - btw, what's with the anthropomorphic stuff? i feel left out. from now on i want to be known as The Tentacle-kitty you mofos. DO NOT DISAPPOINT ME - i know kung fu, fuckers! okay, i'm gonna go fucking do some writing now...

wait, one more thing. this is supposed to be a fucking bar. what is with all the donut shit? how many bars serve donuts. is this soime weird trend that i don't know about? i mean, if any place is going to start that up it's f'ing seattle and i am pretty sure that we don't do that up here. yet. i think. dammit, now i'm going to have to google it or something. shout out, btw, to psycho donuts. google THAT! and while you're at it, i'll have a bloody mary. namaste, my homies. later.

Will the alt endings feature be back?

umm... no idea. i had forgotten all about this, tbh. was it ever even used?

it's f'ing COLD here. cold enough to snow (it did on wednesday and looks like we're going to get more of it). hot cocoa please. and keep it coming.

so, authors... think about ALL the stories you've ever read. Hemingway? Patterson? King? Tollkien? The Bible? how many of them had dialogue that looked like this:

"MAKE ME CUM!" she shouted.

the answer? none of them. there's no real good reason to capitalize every letter when writing a story. just the little descriptor - she shouted - should give readers the idea. just because you've seen it on other porn stories, doesn't mean it's the way to do it. also, adding letters - i'm going to cuuuuuummmmm! - is just as bad. stop it. please.

Based on previous rants, I think that what sprite is complaining about is getting a short piece where that line is the only sex. If it contains a line like this but there is more graphic sex elsewhere, you're good.

Where that leaves a story like the one I have perpetually in development hell, where I am at 4000 words and still no actual sex, just some hints of attraction and arousal, I don't know. It's actually a good fantasy piece without the sex so maybe just scrap the sex and target it at blue site.

this is actually aimed at people whose entire story mirrors that... 300 words that just really don't tell a story and the sex only gets a brief mention. i don't think you have anything to worry about. smile

wait... these are supposed to be sexy? smh. i've been going at it all wrong. NOW you tell me!
