I am not sure I even get the concept of a chapter of less than 700 words. If I am doing something long enough to be multiple parts, my chapters are longer than that. And generally each chapter has a sex scene, or something sexy, in it if it is for here.
exactly! give that ape a gold star!

I have just managed to get part 3 of my current literary masterpiece online without a huge amount of sex in that particular part. Just mostly references to past sex in the series and the promise of more sex to cum.
yes, but your stories are 3k plus. i'm fine with that. what reads like an opening paragraph and is submitted as Chapter 1 is my issue. can you imagine if i write some of my longer stories like that? lol chapter 100 in which our heroine finally takes off her top. ![]()

I admit I've been light on sex for a while now too. Y'all have inspired me. My next story title: Nothing But Sex 😈 Coming soon to a Lush category near you. At the very least it will be an interesting experiment with reads, votes, comments
i'm fine with light on sex. my issue is with multi-part stores of less than 700 words with no sex

I’m old enough to remember the arguments when was banned as a category and the arguments when it was reinstated .. the main one being all the other sites allow it so Lush needs to too. But other sites allow non-consent, animals and god knows what else so I think that’s a spurious argument.
There have been some good fantasy stories. Sprite’s Summer series being a perfect example but it’s hard to wade through the filth to find the odd well-written gem that isn’t fucking your 16 year old daughter with the pneumatic breasts and the ability to deep throat’s a 9 inch monster cock without gagging on the first attempt. And that’s why I have that category hidden.
I think it speaks volumes that you don’t have to write in that category to get the Omnium badge.
As for eyeballs on stories, with less than 24 hours on the front page and so many stories being written, 500 views is a lot these days. I can’t imagine many more stories getting the Famous story badge
IF will always be controversial. Some people HATE it and some people LOVE it. i think all the old timers know how much of a nose dive we took on the site when we dropped it. reinstating it was almost purely a financial decision and done to keep the site running. i doubt very much that it will ever be dropped again.
one thing i am not particularly proud of - in my early days here i wrote an IF story - all the writers did, just to get attention drawn to their other stuff - it was purposefully awful and vile. i actually kept it hidden for a number of years. i also wrote a series of take offs on the Grim fairy tales that were IF - i also have non-IF versions of them. those were actually tasteful i think? lol that said, yeah, most of the IFs are... less than good (imo) and i sort of have to hold my nose when i mod them - a lot of the mods won't even touch them.
remember when you could write a story and it would be on the front page for a week? now they disappear in, like you say, 24 hours or less. used to be that i knew almost all the writers too and had time to read most of the stories here. now i have no idea who most of them are and rarely have a chance to read anything unless i'm modding it. times they are a-changing.

Aloha from a magical getaway with my hubby as we celebrate life. Pardon my absence lately as I was involved in a bit of a pity party after finding out my cancer has returned. Several treatment options this time around. Starting with the least invasive, immunotherapy, after we get back from our trip. If that doesn’t work we will try oral chemotherapy. Last resort surgery. But I’m feeling optimistic. And I’m enjoying the hell out of Hawaii until then. Hope all y’all are enjoying the weekend.
wishing the best for you. keep up that optimism!
btw, hawaii was our honeymoon destination. it's a magical place. so jealous of you right now.

I think 500 views is a lot too for a few days. I think there is just a different culture on Lush at the moment. Even the comp numbers are down. I've seen shifts in readers over my time here. The masses just want dirty sex right now, I think.
I wrote an story earlier because I'd had an idea I could get behind with the sex between twins. And I recruited MojaveJoe to write the sex part. Ha! And not surprising, it is my highest voted story. I'm so proud - NOT! Ha!
I am surprised so many comment on . I figured most wouldn't want to admit they'd read the story.
Just different right now, but like all things, Lush will continue to evolve over time.
of the last 3 stories i posted, only one got over the 1000 mark. this, from a series, where the first story hit legendary status, so yeah, 500 isn't bad for a first time writer.

OTOH, one of the most popular categories here is , which many of us won't touch.
ya'll should. be nice to class up the category with well-written IFs from talented authors from time to time. not all IFs need to leave you feeling like you need a long hot shower (best if they leave you feeling like you need a cold shower ;)).

going well here, thank you friend. not sure yet about another story--gonna let the response to the first sorta dictate whether i keep on or not. i don't know that i have tons of ideas in the hopper, i just wanted to give it a try, and maybe keep going if there was an audience for it. i'm sitting around 500 views and 7 likes...i don't know what the norm is, but that feels, shall we say, a touch lukewarm. i don't need a huge response (i'm glad i submitted something, and the response from those who have responded has been genuinely touching), but i also don't know that i'm gonna put in the effort if it's just shouting at a mostly empty room.
my advice. write because you like to write. don't worry about the views and likes. i have stories on here that have achieved legendary status. i also have stories that didn't even hit the 500 mark for views. i enjoyed writing them all and i am sure that those 500 people who actually read them enjoyed them too. if you play the numbers game you're just going to be disappointed. also, the more you write, the more of a presence you have on lush, the more people see your name, the more exposure you get... well, the more reads you'll get. as was mentioned, some categories are more popular than others. just how it is. if you're really in need of a prop up, write an fantasy story. that's the number one category here. but, if that's not your thing, just write what turns your wheels and scores be damned.
Every once in a while I post this very same note here. If you're submitting a story and it's less then 500 words and there is no sex in it and, at the end, you have something like this - "the next chapter will be blistering hot"... don't!
simple as that. don't break it up into 300 word chapters. just don't. write one single chapter and try to make it at least 1000 words and have some GOD DAMN sex in it.
thanks.
sprite.

I feel your pain. I’m there too. I think I’m getting too wound up in trying to make the plot convoluted. I should just put lots of sex in instead. That’ll work lol.
Hope everyone is good. I’ve submitted a story in the face sitting category in an attempt to get my Omnium back. Since the move it appears your have to write in all categories to get it. I will not be happy if they expect an story out of me. Always struck me as a cop out that you can slap fantasies after and make that ok to publish but can’t have a beastiality fantasy, a fantasy or a snuff fantasy. After all, is as illegal as the other three.
Shrugs. Anyway, if they say No I can’t have the Omnium back, it may solve my Noir story difficulties.
Slainte 🍷
this. like all these loose ends that somehow tie together. i think it needs simplification.

Whereas I, who am technically in a vulnerable group (diabetic, but well controlled) but triple vaxxed, got off with a 3-4 day flu-ish illness and then a lingering cough for three or so weeks. My wife was similar but her cough lasted longer,. Lingering coughs are common for her with any respiratory illness, though, so can't entirely blame COVID for that.
Good afternoon. Nice day here. Unseasonably warm (low 20s Celsisu) but horribly windy. Supposed to shower overnight and then be nice again but more seasonal from tomorrow.
I am staving off my weekly migraine, possibly due to the cold front that's generating the wind, but I should survive.
my wife got covid at the same time i did. she had what she described as a head cold for 2 days while i was barely able to sit up for 2 weeks. total exhaustion. never had a fever or any of the other symptoms.

So what do you do when your Noir story has stalled one month before the deadline??
this is where i am right now and yeah, was thinking of starting over... we'll see. mostly i just don't feel like writing right now. i am sure that i'll probably start again and finish up at the last second. or not.

(wanders in, slumps down on a chair and smashes it. just stays slumped on the floor amidst the flinders.)
Oh, man! I just got hit with one of the worst head colds I've had in decades! I've taken antihistamines, but the cold just laughs at 'em.
I had this ongoing battle – my stomach said I needed to get up and have something to eat, but when I try to get up, my body says, "Where the fuck do you think you're going? Lie back down here and go back to sleep!"
Well, I ain't gonna let no head cold tell me what to do!
So I had some breakfast, and now I'm gonna have a big Bear-sized mug of tea, and just sit here, on the floor…
(falls asleep…)
test for covid. i'm serious. the first day or two we both thought it was a nasty head cold too. also, that chair is going on your bill.

.As for me, I have a Flash that I'm about to submit – probably for rejection – based on a conversation I had with one of the moderators about a previous story. It's called (drum roll please):
The Fuckholes of the Worm Monsters of Venus
not sure i see a problem with this one - as long as the worm monsters are all 16 or older.

🔥 🔥🔥 I agree Kimmi!!! This one was steamy, sexy, spicy, and all the other “s” words I can think of. Wolfie hit it out of the park in less that 100 words with this one!!
Whew!! I need an iced coffee after that!!!
"s" words include Stinky Squid (see above) so be careful with that
btw, someone else here wrote a flash story... https://www.lushstories.com/stories/flash-erotica/consumed-by-fire
