3) When are we going to be able to go back to full-sized images for cover art. When someone can convince the designers that it's desirable, and images of any aspect ratio can live harmoniously in a responsive, grid-based design. I've tried.
Let me see if I can put this diplomatically enough: FUCK the designer's wishes. I've worked in IT for decades, and software people will ALWAYS default to what is convenient for them, or to something they think is "cool." I also know the proper response to that is: NOT GOOD ENOUGH. FIX IT.
This site is supposed to be for the benefit of the writers, not the designers. There is NO good reason to force fine writers like Kistenspencil, or Kimmibegood, or your own good self, who work hard at creating interesting cover art to accompany their brilliant stories to suit the piss-ant wishes of website designers.
And there is NO good reason why the template for one kind of page needs to be foisted on another kind of page, which is what we are being told. I've been there and done that, and that's an excuse, not an explanation.
So, to sum up: Tell them to take their irrelevant preferences, fold them until they are all corners, and shove them up their collective and individual asses. They might just find their heads up there.
.
And you can quote me.
watching as the priority for the designers to make any changes to the cover art plummet to the bottom of the list.

oh, and...
There's something backwards about wanting all these reverse delay effects 😜 Well, unless you combine them perhaps 😳
Personally I prefer the simple, single effect pedals over the multi effects pedals. So I'd probably go for the Backtalk, given these options, but the Eccos sure is very nice too. And while I really like EHX, I think the Attack Decay is a bit too gimmicky for me.
Eccos is top of my list and the EHX is at the bottom, if that helps you think me less gimmicky?
I like the Keeley Red Dirt too, although the Aria is actually cheaper and is paired with a compressor which i am told i should have, though i am still unsure why. lol

What do you drink when your ex-husband's crazy soon-to-be ex-wife calls your employer acusing you of using your IT skills to illegally hack her techware to give her soon-to-be ex-husband ammunition to use against her in their ugly divorce. 😕 WHEN in reality you don't give a shit about their divorce because you haven't been married to him for 20 years and you have a very ill Mom consuming your every thought lately. No words to describe my embarrassment with my employer who thankfully believes I am not a hacker.
I'll be in the corner. Keep the drinks coming, please, Bear.

I figured this thread needed a bump, so I got myself a new bass guitar 😜: a second hand vintage cream Eastwood Sidejack Bass VI, based on the old Mosrite guitars, combined with Fender's Bass VI. A lovely bass. Only major downside is that it's very neck heavy. Hopefully there's a way to lessen that.
i see your issue actually. it's not a bass. it's a guitar. 6 strings should have given you a clue. lol sadly (or not) this year's xmas list is very pedal heavy. i discovered pedal reviews on youtube and... well, some of mine seemed inadequate, so i want to upgrade. there are 4 new ones on the list and none of them are cheap, but dammit, they are cool!
And hell no, it's a bass! 😜 You're just jealous that your 6 string guitar can't produce those lovely low notes.
Admittedly, the Fender Bass VI originally was just called the Fender VI. And the neck dive in this Eastwood bass is indeed related to the fact that its body is the same as those of their guitars from the same series, which makes the the longer neck, with heavier tuners, too heavy in comparison. Oh well.Pedal reviews on YouTube… the bottomless box of treats. So which ones are on your list?
why? feeling generous? lol

I hope that you are doing well - sorry, just now caught this thread! i'm glad you have people to reach out to and to share with and laugh with and to help take away a little of the hardships you're going through. not an easy thing, i imagine, but having a positive attitude helps a lot, as does having a support system. keep up the strength and beat this sucker. lots of love and hugs.

Newen Afrobeat & Seun Kuti - Zombie (Fela Kuti)
Seun Kuti is Fela's youngest. he's pretty brilliant in his own right as is Kemi, Fela's oldest son. for the record, Fela aka The Black Presdent is one of my heroes. a brilliant musician and a spiritual leader who did so much to expose the corruption in Nigeria despite arrest and violence done to him (he was arrested over 200 times, mostly on trumped up charges, and beaten many of those times, once into unconsciousness. Here, btw, is the original (edited down from 12 mintues to 7) version.
Quote by deviantsusieJust a quick note - i wish it had been smoother too. we all do. what the members have been dealing with, the moderation team has been dealing with times ten. we originally thought there would be much more time to transition, but through no fault of the developers or the mods, the timetable was pushed up drastically. and it didn't help that people seemed to take it quite personally from the moment things change. within 24 hours i was seeing posts about hating lush, about leaving the site, about the incompetence of the transition. human nature being what it is, you tend to growl back when people start growling at you.I quite agree it helps to be realistic but what I was objecting to in the final paragraph of my late night flounce post is the cheerleaders for lush 2.0 who have no time for protest or dissent.I have seen several forum threads where posters have been slapped down by cries of its great, there are new features every day, Rome want built in a day, you can’t go back so shut up.
I understand all about the old site was going to keel over and we had to move. I think the fact we moved to a swingers chat site with a story bolt on shocked everyone and with hindsight I imagine there would have been a lot more notices preparing people about the new normal.
Yes let’s agree that Lush is improving weekly but let’s not pretend it’s all great and there are no issues so let’s all keep quiet. To create an environment like that merely encourages everyone to slink away quietly and with no fuss or protest.
i think that we did a very good job of patiently trying to answer questions, get info for people, fix issues, and keep people informed about what is going on. you have to remember that we are getting this from the developers which means that we need to catch their attention and pull them away from whatever it is they are working on in order to get the answers and information people are looking for. it's been stressful and hectic at best. I'd like to commend people like SJ and Jen who have gone above and beyond in filling in the blanks for people here. it's been kind of a thankless job.
So. things are improving. i know everyone wants it to be perfect NOW, but that's just not going to happen. the site will settle, it will be awesome and as close to perfect as can be and probably a few people will even express their satisfaction. lol until then, please please please have patience with people who are doing the best they can in a difficult situation. thanks.
Quote by VioletVixenit tool me apx 15 seconds to read this post of 32 words. also, look at you, able to post in the forums againWord count sort of got added in. It's rounded once you get to 1000 + words so it shows as 1.0k or 1.6k, but it's a start. Definitely better than estimated read times.
Quote by KimmiBeGoodLove and prayers for you and your family. i can't imagine any of this has been easy, but i do imagine that you've dealt with it with grace and strength as well as love. Mom didn't know me yesterday for the first time. I told her about her daughter Kimberly anyway. Then, I found a bench in the park and had a very long cry.
Life is a journey, isn't it? A wise man told me we are all here to learn and our struggles prepare us for what comes next. Sometimes a successful day is just getting out of bed. Keep supporting one another as compassion is more contagious than the coronavirus.

I can't imagine how painful that is. I work with families all the time who go through this with loved ones who have a diagnosis of dementia. You're incredibly strong and brave. Keep doing what you're doing girlie, your mum is so lucky to have you. ❤
Quote by Lurker411You have decided to keep rehashing the subject so I feel comfortable in continuing to try to understand your issue and voicing my own opinion. Obviously you are unhappy with my moderation team so I thought it only fair that I'm allowed to try to take part in this conversation.Quote by kistinspencilIf the only posts allowed on the forum had to have a point that everyone agreed was important, there wouldn’t be much here.Quote by Lurker411So you were just spitting on the sidewalk just to spit? Gee, thanks.Quote by spriteWhy does everything have to have a point? It was someone on here, but why did you feel the need to respond? As I’ve been told so many times in the last 2 weeks: if you don’t agree with it, move on.Quote by Lurker411"someone"? and your point is...?Someone told me that poetry has to have a regular rhythm to its lines. I wonder if anyone told Emily Dickinson, T.S. Eliot (Nobel Prize), and Sylvia Plath (Pulitzer Prize).
Quote by deviantsusieFun for who? LolQuote by WiseGingerI wrote a 99 word micro that the word counter on the submission page said was 156 words. When the mod verified it, they said it was 96 words. Will make competition word limits fun, that's for sureFunny thing: I haven't entered the story yet but the word count is 384 already. Why is that?
My story on word is 9726 words, and on Lush is 10488. That's why it's been rejected.
Quote by Lurker411you are aware that, for the past 3 weeks, the moderation team has been extremely busy and things have not been running as we're used to, nor smoothly? We're still figuring this out too, and some of our tools, such as mod notes, etc, are not working as we're used to. We ask for patience until things are operating as they did before the change. Thanks.. as for the age limit, when you signed up for the site, you agreed to the TOS which clearly stated that no person under the age of 16 shall be represented in sexual situations of any kind. that's a hard and fast rule here and not up for discussion.Quote by Twisted_SkaldI have yet to have an interaction with an administrator that I would describe as “nurturing new talent.” Why haven’t ANY of the 3 verifiers responded to my messages for clarification and assistance? Why did I have to seek out answers on the forum? I have yet to get a response to my 2 emails asking why my poem was rejected in BOTH categories. It was just: this isn’t a poem, rewrite it in prose, make it longer, and resubmit as a story. I was trying to understand what qualifies as a poem. They should remove the description on the Erotic Poems page that states EVERYTHING ELSE is published there if it isn’t true. The verifier isn't your enemy, they're not out to crush you or make you feel like crud. They're genuinely interested in nurturing new talent to achieve their potential. I've had work rejected and it wasn't a pleasant experience but instead of letting it make me quit I reached out to the verifier and asked questions.
Yes some things are a matter of opinion but I found having serious critique helped me improve enormously. If you're finding it hard to find a way through, then send it to me and I will do my best to help you to tweak it a little.
I'm proud to support and to be a new writer on Lush, I'm willing to help if you're willing to let me.
If the person that rejected my first piece had responded, we could have avoided 2+ weeks of very hostile forum and email discussion about underage characters. All kinds of threats and vitriol could have been saved. I finally got an answer from a random person in the forum that made sense yesterday, 3 weeks after my piece was rejected. Most people just told me to shut up or leave the site since I couldn’t follow the rules. It never occurred to me that characters can’t even know sex EXISTS until they turn 16.
Quote by dlcalguyWe have made a point in the past of not accepting limericks or haikus.Quote by spriteFrom the top of the Erotic Poems page:Quote by dlcalguywe do have the right to decide what is publishable and what is not on this site. not always a popular choice, but we do try to maintain a certain standard here.Nobody has the authority to say what is and what isn't poetry. To do so is the height of presumptuousness.
"Poems with a primary focus on sensuality and passion are better suited to our 'Love Poems' category, anything else is welcome here."
Apparently not absolutely anything. One man's John Donne is another man's William McGonagall. Judging from some of what DOES make the cut, nobody has a clue which is which on any given day.
Here's one that won't pass muster:
The submission process is scary
Just post it with a hail-Mary
The approval we seek
From the ruling clique
Is sometimes quite arbitrary.
