I recently wrote a gay-male story, and after research, I decided that I wanted to use the word "twink".
Having no idea whether it was on the green list, grey list, or red list of naughty words, I asked privately for clarification. The advice I got was to search the published stories for that word to see if any stories included it.
That worked for me as 4 pages of stories came back... so that word was included in my story. 😊
Don't be put off by it being in the steampunk genre, as my newly released story, The Open Purse, is, I feel, one of the better stories that I have written. 🙄 Maybe, I always say that! 😈🤣 Do give it a try!

I thought it was only us Brits who talked about the weather! 😎 Here is my update: where I live in the South of England, it has been dry today. Unlike the last few days, rain is on its way tonight. However, as it seems a little wet on the side of the Atlantic, and if you are looking for something to do... why not try out my new story?

As part of gaining an Onium badge, I have just finished writing a story in a new genre. It's a little different. 😊
However, the story still needs a bit of a polish, and also I find myself asking burning questions – do I split this into two parts (it is already over 4k words)? Give it another twist? Leave the ending open for another day?
There are so many directions I could take these characters... I guess we all know the answer when I look to publish it next week! 😊

My pub story: last month, my wife and I attended a large Gay Pride event on Gran Canaria. It was great fun, a fabulous party. However, as a 62-year-old straight male, I learnt two things:
1). Men can have better legs than women (sorry, girls).
2). The reason why there were so many young men walking around in dog masks? That I had to google (was not brave enough to directly ask!) 😉😎

I am close on one but having thoughts. It's very long and I wonder if I should split it. There is a possible breakpoint. On the other hand much of the hottest stuff would fall in the second part (in fact, it would be mostly FFM and FF sex) and my experience suggests a lot will read just that for the sex and miss an important chunk of the actual story.
Seeker4, if you want people to read it, then I suggest splitting your story. There was a LushStories survey on this, which I believe said around 3,000 words was the sweet spot, and over 5,000, you lost half of your potential audience. 🙄
I have just submitted a follow-up gay male story, which will be published 9 months later than I originally promised. Or looking a it more positively, perfectly timed for Pride month. 😊
There are some good suggestions here. Most of my ideas come to me in my sleep, and I try to scribble them down on paper before they disappear in the morning. 🙄
On stories, I like to concentrate on the characters, then the start and the ending, before I look to flesh out the complete storyline. 😊
