With the new week, the children went back to school, John went back to work, and Janet slipped back into her routine, driving over to her boyfriend Hugh's on both Tuesday and Thursday; the sex with him was as enjoyable as ever, even though she was becoming familiar with it. While at Hugh’s, they discussed the idea of soon going away together for a short break. It would be for just one night, and when away, there would be...

The Easter holidays slipped by almost unnoticed, with the Joneses often preoccupied with thoughts on the possible Somertyn Manor inheritance. They had preferred to spend the time together as a family, and there was no extramarital activity. Unlike during the Christmas holidays, JJ simply did not miss it, as there was too much going on. However, with Easter rapidly fading into the past and the first Somertyn Manor legal do...

John stood there in the storage yard, taking in the crisp morning air, the sun burning off the valley’s dawn mist on what promised to be a warm early spring day. He felt relaxed as he marvelled at the two giant greenhouses that seemed to have gone up overnight. The glass structures were like conjoined twins, sitting parallel with one another, and the space inside was currently swarming with fitters as they carried out the...

Janet went to nudge Hugh but stopped. Then she inwardly giggled as she slowly realised that what Hugh had just said was true: that she was well on her way to becoming promiscuous. But wasn't that what she wanted? A sudden doubt entered Janet’s mind as she tried to resolve her question, knowing that it needed to be addressed. “John wanted this,” she thought. Since her indiscretion with Earnest and William, he had said as m...

“I missed this, Hugh,” Janet cried out. She was naked, her boyfriend’s cock buried deep inside her. They were having sex by the indoor pool, and now, knowing that the windows were opaque on the outside, JJ was not bothered by the two gardeners working in the huge rear garden. Over the last few months, she had learned to be more relaxed when with her boyfriend and not worry about what others may think, and the large round...

Feeling uncertain, Janet drove home and turned into the cul-de-sac where their house was located. There she saw John’s car parked. Its presence made her heart leap, and then she wondered why he was not still in Wales at his last appointment. “John, you're home early?” Janet shouted out, placing her car keys in the bowl next to the front door. She had a lot to tell him, and her “possible” cheating was only part of it. "I'm...

After her time sitting on the wooden bench at Somertyn Manor, Janet felt refreshed, and yet she still carried the uncertainty about what the future would bring. With the decision already made with John to push forward with the house extension, the biggest concern that remained was whether she should forget about the idea of having another child and add to their family. A couple of minutes later, Janet pulled up at “Rose C...

With the early March morning chill still lingering and the latest Billy Ocean song, “When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going," playing on her Sony Walkman, Mrs Jones opened the Somertyn Manor front gate and then stepped onto the secluded grounds. She needed some private time to think, and for her, the manor gardens were the perfect place, even if the noise of the building's renovation occasionally broke through the...

“I heard there was another killing two nights ago, a poor lass over in Spitalfields,” Margaret loudly announced from her kiosk across the gangway at the match factory. The ladies who worked there had just started their morning shift. “The Leather Apron?” A woman questioned from further down the line. Her loud words brought a cry from the overseeing works foreman on the gantry above: "Keep it down, ladies.” Talking while a...

Despite the Joneses' recent improved financial position, Fish and Chips remained a rare treat, and much to the children’s consternation, the family ate it around the dining room table. Being a Saturday and therefore a late-to-bed night, they would have been much happier with it on their laps, sitting in front of the telly. However, Janet had insisted, and when it came to the running of the household, there was only one pe...

With her eyes flicking every few minutes towards the kitchen clock and anticipation building, Janet made sandwiches for the family lunch. Keeping her cardigan tightly buttoned up, she delivered them to her children in the lounge and reminded them to stay there while Richard measured up the house. Now on their own, Janet and John ate in the kitchen as they once again studied the house plans, which had been given to the Jon...

"Knock it in, Jason,” Mrs Jones roared as the ball whistled across the penalty area, her son just missing the connection to score his team’s first goal. It was Saturday morning, and with the other parents, Janet was standing beside the pitch, watching the Somertyn under-thirteens' football team playing a match. While Jenna, her daughter, played with her school friend in the children’s playground that was located just behi...

As he looked out of his Manchester hotel's fifth-floor window, Mr Jones felt restless. In the distance, he could see the snow-capped hills of the South Pennine moors. It reminded him of Somertyn Gardens and the freedom of his part-time job working there, one that he hoped would eventually become his permanent employment, but until then, he was stuck in this new company's senior sales role, travelling the length and breadt...

“JJ, as you know, you're way around Somertyn Manor. Please be a dear and see what’s happened to Ethan. We are going to need him here in half an hour.” So, wearing her white dressing gown and matching slippers, Janet left her husband to watch Anna and went in search of Ethan. She suspected that she would find him getting changed in the bathroom at the top of the stairs. It was the only room that had been opened on the firs...

“This is a clothes photoshoot, Anna,” Ms Morgan barked. “Now that we are wearing evening gowns, we need to show the material of the dresses flowing over the natural contours of our bodies.” Then, pointing towards Janet, Melisa more softly added, “Just follow what Mrs Jones is doing, as she seems to have no qualms about walking around the manor knickerless. “JJ, be a dear; show Anna how to wear an evening gown.” Janet smil...
