I don't know if this counts as art. I have made a "painting" out of a photograph.

I like the 2nd one... Though it'd look better if you managed to get rid of the black pixel noise. And light up the face a bit.

There are quite a few apps which allow to turn pics into more art-like pieces, some of them quite good. But you can also manage it by playing with the settings of a regular photo editor.

For example, my avatar was made from a picture of my wife. I was trying to get something that looks like a stencil, a bit reminiscent of Banksi's work, and I dare to think I did not do a bad job...

It isn't even that hard to do! (And is even easier if the picture you start with has quite a strong contrast with hard lighting and deep shadows.) And can be done with the basic editor that came with your smartphone for example.

Here are the steps, if you want to give it a try:
1) turn the picture to greyscale,
2) set contrast to the max,
3) set exposition up until the maximum point where the details you want to keep aren't washed out yet,
4) save,
5) open the resulting picture and repeat steps 2 to 5 until you are left with only pure black and pure white,
6) with the paint bucket tool, fill in the white area with any color you wish (I only picked red because I wanted it to fit with this site's theme),
7) (optional) apply a grungy filter on top.

It might take a few tries to understand where to set the exposition level during the first 2 or 3 repeats not to lose the details you want to keep later in the process. But it's just something you'll need to learn through trial and error, because it varies with the base picture.

If you have an app that allows blending pictures together, you can also cut out the black area from the resulting pure B&W image and paste it on top of a picture of a blank wall. And see what it'd look like if someone had made an actual stencil from one of your pics and spray painted it on the street 😜

I prefer the first. It concentrates the woman's eyes and smile, the visual core of the image. The second is meh porn cover art.

It would be interesting to see the original, if you are able to post it.

Thank you for your feedback and attempt to help me 'improve' my work.

My request "Please let me know if its any good." is too general. I should have been more specific. Thats my bad.

Understand that my artwork is my expression of concept , thought, feeling, opinion, .. maybe a message even.... it is something in me that i wish to put out there . What you call 'black pixel noise' is there for a reason.

I do appreciate your feedback. I prefer to see a response to the art (instead of the technique), but any viewer perspective is always welcome.

Thank you Kistin. I appreciate your feedback. Your opinion is valuable to me.

I do have the original and I can share it with you, but I believe the original should be irrelevant. My work should be complete on its own.

Where are the pictures of men?????

I don't know who drew this, but found this online. Found it sexy! xx
