Mine: Sincerely, for the first time
Someone else's: Psychedelic Pussycat Dreams - Cream by Sprite

Don't believe everything that you read.

Just plucking one from my favourites list I'll have to go for Now You've Done it, Levi Strauss! Great title, fab picture and a damn good read.

As for one of my own... how about Let The Games Begin
That piece of Flash's working title was Speed Dating with 'let the games begin' as a tag line. It works much better switched around.

I am so bad at titles and they are so important.

My favorite of my own isn't on Lush. It isn't anywhere anymore. It was called Two Weeks to Build a Bird and I felt like it might be one of the few titles I've come up with that's intriguing enough to get someone to read it.

Not my own? I really loved Serious Moonlight by Verbal. It immediately set a mood for me because I recognized the David Bowie reference. I also loved How to Drown Out Contact Passions by VirgoGo. I had to read the story to find out what it meant, which is what a title is for, after all.

I like this topic.

Thank you, my lovely and generous friend!

One that very much intrigued me was "Doesn't mean I love you, Wilson Reedy", by our very talented thread originator, Puddleduck.
https://www.lushstories.com/stories/anal/doesnt-mean-i-love-you-wilson-reedy.aspx
It was in the homepage story picks box for a whole month, I think, but for some unknown reason I didn't read it. The title stuck with me though, until I went and found it and read it. If for any reason you haven't, YOU SHOULD! I kicked myself for waiting so long, but pleasure delayed was certainly not pleasure denied. Great story.

Of my own... hmm. Possibly "Seven Year Ache" (2 parts) because it's titled after a Roseanne Cash song that I love, but the story has absolutely nothing to do with the song. I just liked the play on words of the old cliché, "seven-year itch".

While we're 'dog-piling' on StormDog, so to speak, I'll add his, "Big Dick's Trucking Service, Inc." to the list.

As for lil' moi, any of the titles on my sig line would do with the second one being just a bit 'more equal' than the others.

Thanks B. Yes, it WAS a Bowie reference. Why isn't Two Weeks to Build a Bird anywhere where we can read it? I would.

This is a nice thread. I like that it's specific to titles.

Another: Molten Core, by Ravenstar. https://www.lushstories.com/stories/masturbation/molten-core.aspx

And because P-Duck will certainly ask WHY it's a good title: nearly every paragraph has a temperature or thirst reference, some obvious, some sly, and the switch-back between hot and cold affects the reader in the same way it affects the protagonist. It's also very hot. It also won an award. Go read it!

Nice question!

I took a look through my Favourite Stories list to see which titles jump out at me.

As someone else pointed out, Average Black Girl has a way with titles, especially poetry.

*Song of the Succubus* is a fine example.

I also seem to like titles that intrigue me or are evocative;

like LeCygneNoir's *Moanin'* which sums up the jazz age in which it was written

or

*Cake and Boobs* by PervyStoryTeller - who could resist a title like that!

In the same way, Sprite's sublime story *Would You Like Ketchup With That?* takes service and seduction to a whole new level!!

Thanks for the acknowledgment, of my own titles, it's my favourite as well. Although credit of course goes to the jazz standard and not my own creativity. And also thanks to Verbal for mentionning Puppets of the lens.

As for my own favourite titles, I think they come from Liz, and particularly her poems. Mention for "Adrift", the simplest, yet most elusive one.

For me, the most creative titles come from AvrgBlkGrl.
I especially like "I Hate You." Now that's a title that will make you want to read the story.
She is a master at choosing one-word titles (like Trust)

Oh yes, Enjambment is great because it reflects the structure and the content of the poem. But then so is A List of Lonelinesses (how can you not read it after that title?), and The Point at Which You Entered.
I'm collecting all these titles to steal, by the way.

Ah man, you can't believe how happy I am to have discovered these posts, especially from the three of you because I just love your writing so much.
I beat myself up about my titles because I give them a lot of thought and I hope that they capture the story, but at the same time everyone knows that
the more sexually overt titles get more general reads. I just feel like a sell out if I give into that lure. I seriously want the idea behind the story to be more important
than the actual sex. I want the sex to highlight the theme. I'm strange, I know.
? A True Story ?
There are lots of great story titles and I can't even remember all the ones that have impressed me.

But here are just a few titles I really like:

Hard Candy by Dancing Doll. It is the perfect Hardcore category title

Oh Christmas Goat, Oh Christmas Goat by Sprite. I love quirky off the wall and funny. Great title for a Humor story

Renaissance Of The Heart by DanielleX. A 5 part series in the Love Story category. Perfectly named for that.

Time Assassin by JessicaX. Outstanding name for a Fantasy & Sci-Fi story

Cum Compulsion by Kee. Great name for a Fetish story

The titles of my own stories I like best:

Run! Dammit! Run!

The Devil’s Harem: She Played The Rusty Trombone

In The Land Of Salvation And Sin

I Love Your Funky Fucking Sloppy Snatch

Yes much, thank you. But Simmerdownchick is now on a yellow card for lack of explanation.

Just tell me if I'm being too officious.

Yikes, not the yellow card! At least it's not the ever dreaded red card...Although I probably deserved it

Now I have to quote myself...how gouche (giggles!)

Oh...other author's you say?

I AM PET
By Milik the Red

https://www.lushstories.com/stories/bdsm/i-am-pet.aspx

Peices of Candy ~ a sort of play on words, because she is a fabricated life form who recently became sentient.

Giving To Charity ~ no explanation necessary

and

I am Pet - because it implies submission perfectly

Now, can I have a green card? (insert obvious jokes here..)

I have three famous stories, 2 recommended reads and have come in the top ten in two competitions~ Come in and make yourself at home.

Gotta work on that...could've been that red card...I'm just saying....

i have to agree about avrgblkgrl and especially 'Un-Fuck You'. The title was the reason I read it and the poem was brilliant. It just grabbed my attention!
