Out of respect i will not mention names. I was hurt. Oh yes. Cant deny that factor. But a very good friend reminded me that not everyone we encounter is able to be there for the long haul. We have different lives and that doesn't make anyone better or worse. Was my life changed for the better? Absolutely! So who am i to complain? I was blessed by his presence and it made me a better person which is all that really matters. I can only strive to give back as he so selfishly did and hope to leave my own marks. Cheers to you, wherever you are. You are loved and missed and if nothing else., you left enough a mark to allow us to think, create, give back and love

Many blessings my friend

Out of respect you SHOULD mention names....I mean, you already make it seem as though someone is to blame. Other than Ping himself, of course
Isn't that just deactivating? I mean, why not simply deactivate

Because sometimes people get recognised on here or disgruntled ex cyber-lovers write to others' spouses/partners and tell them things so people HAVE to wipe every trace of themselves from the site. It would be nice to have the stories left here without the writers name. If it was me I think I would want to do that.

Bye then. Thanks for leaving the stories. See you again soon.

Lol.

I don't. Resurrecting deleted profiles sounds complicated and unnecessary. If you want to leave for an indefinite period of time but don't want to permanently delete everything including your stories, why can't you just deactivate your account?

https://www.lushstories.com/forum/yaf_postst23097_Account-Deactivations.aspx

Surely this option would also work for people who wish to abandon their current account altogether in favour of a new one, but also wish to preserve their literary efforts?

Liz, I live in the USA. Under the Patriot Act. All mail, and virtually any site can be accessed by them or former members can access any site they wish.

Kiera's not from Great Britain, silly. she's from England.

Actually in the winter months she moves into one of her other homes that has a much warmer climate; Maldives or Seychelles I think.

Ohhh duh. I kinda get it. And lol SJ

what has Great Britain ever done for Lush?

You are silly sometimes (ahem just about always). GB stands for GigaByte!

Duh.

What does the Patriot Act have to do with deleting Lush accounts? You've lost me now, sorry.

Also, retaining cached data on individuals after they have requested their account be deleted is a privacy issue. No website should store anything about its members once they leave.
Love that film. One of Gel Mibsons best I think.

So sad when he has to stab his best mate at the end of the battle and the opposition stop firing and get on the hands and knees and push their faces into the sand as a mark of respect.

Who is talking about after an account is deleted? I thought the suggestion was having the choice to leave stories here when deleting a profile?

The point is that the existing deactivation option would serve the purpose people are asking about. If you want to abandon an account but leave your stories on the site, all you have to do is strip all your private info from your account such as your email address, then deactivate it.

If you delete an account, who would the stories left behind be attributed to? You couldn't have them floating around assigned to a 'guest' account. The original username would need to be reserved which would prevent it from being used again (recycled) in the future by a new sign-up. As someone who has previous left and rejoined Lush with the same username, I am sure you can appreciate that is not the best solution.

If the writers name is to remain on the story, don't allow that name to be used again for registering an account. Personally I don't see Why is it out of the question to have stories on the site written by "guest"? Everyone will know it was written by someone who deleted their profile. How is it different to seeing it on the forums? It's still a piece of writing waiting to be read.

If an account deactivation would suit the purpose perfectly, why does new functionality need to be requested? The stories would remain on-site assigned to the correct author name.

Having them assigned to a 'guest' account sounds stupid to me. Who would be responsible for those 'guest' stories? Who would own the copyright on it once the author has left the site? What happens when we get a new member message the site saying they were the original author and they now want it taking down, or wish to resubmit it under their new account?

If the stories retained the username, which is what deactivation already offers, what difference does it make?

Mountain - molehill. Just remove your details and deactivate, it's a single button click.

Then keeping anything that member has created should be deleted as it is private property, unless they sign their copy rights to it over to the site. That includes stories.

As a citizen of the USA, I am sorry I even brought that issue up here in the first place, right or wrong.

It's not that simple Liz. It doesn't suit the purpose perfectly. For some the deactivate function is not enough. If you want to take your name off your forum posts, comments on stories and walls you have to delete. Most people here tell nobody they are here and usually don't tell their partners. If someone else tattletales and writes to someone dobbing them in (and it happens frequently) you don't want someone searching your name and looking at everything you've posted if you weren't supposed to be here. IMHO stories are different. You can't necessarily tell if the person you know is the person who wrote that story. Even if there is no writer's name with the story, wouldn't it have been better if Lush still had some of the treasures here that have been lost through deletion? As for copyright, I think it was Nic suggested leaving an email address. The date it was published would surely stay on the story?

It is a fact that for various reasons people have to leave. I know some would've liked to have left their stories behind. Doesn't bother me one way or the other. I thought there might have been an advantage to the site if this could be made possible.

Edited to add: as for resubmitting under a new name, we're not allowed to do that now.

I still love you Adi! I am not as beautiful as a lot of my Besties, but have to be truthful for their sake. I did not teach critical thinking, research methods, and how to write a thesis or dissertation at Uni for decades not to speak up.
I could really use some of your glitter right now Adi. {}heart

one more word out of you and i'm suspending you for the rest of the year.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

Suspend me. I need to edit. A lot.

You asked what Great Britain ever did for lush. One thing they did was to give us some very good authors. The other thing that Lush was given has been Kiera. If she wasn’t here, that would be one less person to pick on you from time to time, and I know you would miss that something awful.

Kiera's not from Great Britain, silly. she's from England.

Sprite, I love your answer and your wonderful sense of humor. I can’t let it end there, so in response, the devil in me has made me throw your words back at you, only in a slightly different format. I’ve added the first verse to sort of set the mood and tone. If you search the remainder carefully, you should find every word you used. Kiera, if you read this, and I hope you do since you are the object of our conversation, it’s my wish that you and Sprite enjoy this as much as I have writing it.

Your name is Sprite
You must be right

Her name is Kiera
No need to fear’er

Very smart I’m not
Little knowledge I’ve got

Where is she from
I am so dumb

You are so Great
You are never late

You’re not from Britain
But I’ve been smitten

Don’t call me silly
My name’s not Willy

I know that she’s
As pretty as bees

Where she is from
My mind goes numb

You say from England
So now, the end
If you're feeling bored during this Covid-19 epidemic I’d like to suggest
you take a peek at a story I collaborated with SueBrasil, a brilliant author.
It's about a mistake in judgment a lady makes concerning a friend, based
on the hurtful words of someone that only thinks of himself. Will that
conniving person succeed in ruining a beautiful friendship, or will she see
through his lies? It's gradually creeping up towards the 30,000 mark
and we’d love any votes or hearing whatever comments you may wish
to make. It is listed in my profile under ‘FAVOURITES’ as Apologize.
