Hmmm... it was all right. It's no Eat Pray Love or Under the Tuscan Sun, but interesting enough. Obviously a lot grittier. Less date night and more chick's own. Despite the involvement of the author in the film, I put it down to the French director. A little too arty and not quite enough sympathy/engagement in the protagonist. Didn't quite get there either - plenty of journey and not quite enough destination.

I think I'm going to get more out of the book.

Saw Silence a film by Martin Scorcese. About Jesuit priests and persecution in 17th century Zjapan. Quite interesting but not for everyone.

The Handmaiden. It is by the the director of Old Boy. Sort of Rashomon crossed with The Grifters in Korean (subtitles, obviously).

Lots of well done lesbian sex. (Not really my cup of tea, but they are necessary to the story. To be clear, I have nothing against Lesbian sex. Just isn't a turn-on for me. But the women were very pretty).
