I think I need an intervention. I started a one shot- now it's 4 parts

Everything i do runs into novella territory. Mira and Take My bReath away are both up to part 7. Routh 66 i just started and it's 4..

I think I need help.

The only stories that don't seem to run away on me these days are comp entries since they have an enforced length and time limit

I think I'm in the epic territory on my series? Completely wrong genre for it. I wish I had this spark to do something I could actually publish, but my mind draws a blank.

edit My conservative estimate is 348,500 words so far. That's unfinished.

I seem to have a similar issue... once i get started and start developing an idea it doesn't seem to want to end (which unfortunately means i never finish any project) ;)

Tell me about it. I might want in on a support group too.

Becoming A Man, which I started writing offline around 2014, is up to 29 chapters and 90k words. The end is finally in sight, with a definite climax/conclusion five chapters (and 15-20k words) out, due in December. The Summer of Matt and the Daphne arcs of the story have both been so fun I kept adding more, most recently making Daphne’s Halloween into two parts, and then deciding less than two weeks ago that Stan Bi Me needs to exist.

But even with that series finally ending, IT never ends. In 2027 I want to add more chapters to Contagion, extend It’s A Date (which I thought I’d concluded, but now realize that was just Act One) into a novella, and turn the currently standalone Succumbing to Temptation into a 7-10 part series.

Like I said, it never ends.
