Also, how come a new competition is announced with a theme about the elements just 12 days after my last story was published, where the key scene towards the end was, quite literally, centred on the elements of earth, wind and water...๐Ÿ™„(and lightning - no fire, but definitely lightning!).

Just how do you explain that, huh?

Huh?๐Ÿ˜’

we actually time our comp announcements based on your submissions. Jen has a cruel sense of humor. i've talked to her about it, but what can i say; she's Scottish.

You canโ€™t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If youโ€™re not capable of violence, youโ€™re not peaceful. Youโ€™re harmless.

Welp, maybe I should re-install Grammarly then, I know I got issues with spacing (as the mods have told me multiple times lol) so that will at least help with the story being returned a zillion times. Not to mention my issues with commas. I think I've gotten better, but yknow human error prevails. (even those of us like me that are an ink-ubus at heart biggrin )

i have an ellipsis problem.... hides.

Dot ... dot ... dot ... damn, that's hot ...

The Dirty Talk competition has passed so stop it with your sexy ellipses, people! smile

Ha! I knew it! (or should is 'I kent it...'.

This obviously gives me a huge advantage. All I need to do now is, every time I write a story, I'll pen a second story on the same theme, and I'll be ready to go when a new competition is announced! It'll save me a ton of time.

God, I'm so smart! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Have I won yet...?

Fabian's Folly - 1st place in the 'Whodunnit' competition.

Think Of Meโ€ฆ - 1st place in the 'Dirty Talk' competition.

Down the Rabbit Hole - 3rd place in the 'Unleashed' competition.

The Intimate and Top Secret Files of Lady Agnes Jackhammer - 3rd place in the 'Punked' competition.

Let's not get bogged down in AI chat, please.

If you write your own stories, you're good.

Not that there's anything difficult about any one of the elements, but to do something interesting with them that doesn't devolve into tired cliches like, "He was hotter than a flame and hard as a rock. She was wetter than the ocean for him until he farted like a hurricane and killed the mood..." or something like that is a pretty good challenge. I think I might have a better idea, but we'll see if anything useful comes of it.

Don't believe everything that you read.

Oh, for sure. I am looking at my element as an image and tapping (I hope) into something deeper.

That said, I am probably starting over. First attempt headed into territory that I found a bit too familiar (i.e. taps into elements of past stories of mine).

I think I have a good idea taking shape that involves fire as the main element, though the others will be part of it too.

I see what you did there.

Pond swimming, water-based fantasy addict seeks a chance to bring some of them to life. Is that wet enough? I have precious little intelligence, artificial or otherwise, so it might be nonsense, but it's all my own nonsense! ๐Ÿ˜‡

New story started. Writing it the "Old School" way smile

Is that your cover art? Itโ€™s cool :)

That's what I use and the reason I only do Micros now and few of those -- quills are easy, but that parchment has gotten really expensive, especially when you rewrite as much as I do.

My "Old School", not Hamilton's! Using my own intelligence and MS Word. With a little rum, my intelligence becomes artificial! ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

Technologically speaking, old school for me would be WordPerfect 4 on DOS. Though I have experimented with writing in the Linux terminal using VIM which comes close. No alcohol involved but if there was, it would be wine or Scotch.๐Ÿท

Mary had a little lamb. They went sky diving and fell from 3000 feet to earth. Then it started raining but the air was nice and fresh. At home they lit a fire to dry out and keep warm... sorted.

Yes, but where's the fucking and more crucially, what genre is this?

I do not see why that is relevant ๐Ÿ˜‡

I know it's never made much difference to my readers.

I have ... something. It has a beginning, middle, and end. It has fire (my element of choice). It has sex. Now comes a week or two of me trying to perfect it. I have a few hundred words available, too, so I might expand some things a bit.
