With the Olympics upon us, we thought it would be a nice idea to make our latest story competition, sports / fitness related.

This is a very open themed competition. Stories should incorporate some kind of sport, fitness or athletics related plot.

Competition Theme

Examples of things we'd expect to see would be stories set in or around: sport stadiums, gyms, locker rooms, sports halls, and involve athletes, their groupies, personal trainers, sports activities and competitions.

A few ideas: Maybe a coach decides to give her entire team, a special winners' present in the hot tub ... Two guys in the Olympic swim team, discover that breaststroke isn't their favourite type of stroke after all ... A quickie happens between female beach volleyballers as they help each other apply sun cream in preparation for their imminent final ... A couple of kinky gymnasts make use of the bars and ropes after the lights go out ...

Full details can be found here.

Love it!
Excellent!

I look forward to reading your entry

He was probably talking about those rippling abs.
Most excellent
Dang. Have to sideline the story I started this morning and give this one some thought. Sports is sexy stuff (some sports more than others).
I was going through the list of Olympic events earlier (past and present), and couldn't believe some of them.

For example, http://listverse.com/2008/09/24/10-odd-discontinued-olympic-sports/

Erm, how does "Solo Synchronised Swimming" work exactly?

Another site said Motor Boating used to be in there. How is that scored?

Pity Club Swinging was discontinued. I might have the wrong end of the stick there ...

Tug of War? Live Pigeon Shooting (wouldn't it be easy to shoot a dead pigeon?)?

It's late here ...
beautiful idea. i think I'll try something along these lines. i have a few ideas forming already.

EDIT: It's just about Highland Games season up in my neck of the wood. Would that qualify?

I'm in. My story will have plenty of bouncing balls. Surfs up.

I would expect your story to have lots of bouncing breasts, bouncing balls, and surfing.
Oh I think I can find time to join in this competition.PoN6mOY6WE5N2npI

Would the story involve someone having a fling?

Extra points for avoiding the obvious 'tossing the caber', lol.

Oh no you didn't

This Highland Games event sounds interesting:

"Maide Leisg (Scots Gaelic meaning 'Lazy Stick'): Trial of strength performed by two men sitting on the ground with the soles of their feet pressing against each other. Thus seated, they held a stick between their hands which they pulled against each other until one of them was raised from the ground."

I'm thinking of an alternative plot here, where 2 guys have to rub each other's "sticks", until one cums on the ground? (who would be the winner though? )

I'll get my coat ...

I did a Highland Games story once. Funnily enough it had the word "fling" in the title.

I remember the story well (it's damn good), and was thinking of it when I asked the question. Though I definitely don't think highland dancing would qualify as a 'sport'.

It's popular in some areas around here (e.g. Cape Breton Island where there's a lot of Scots descended folks) and it looks pretty athletic to me. I'm pretty sure we have dance competitions at our highland games, too.
Cool. Excited about this competition!
For the purposes of this competition, please don't consider dancing a sport.

Incredibly, 71% of people believe it is, in this poll.

The Highland Fling qualifies, but we are primarily after the widely viewed Olympic type sporting events / scenarios.
I've had a decent number of good bar arguments and discussions about what is a sport.

Modern olympics started with such events as tug of war and standing high jump.

Can't wait to read a good story about dressage (also an Olympic sport). ;)
Is there a min/max on the number of words?

Tug of War should definitely be brought back to the Olympics. For both male and female athletes. A team of 10 representing each nation. I'd love it.

I can tell you who'd be hard to beat. The UK. The Brits are really into the heavy lifting stuff for those strongest men in the world competitions. They could field a team that would be hard as hell to beat. And if the blood doping Russians aren't there, the Brits might have an easy gold for the men.

********

I think this will be an entertaining competition. Sport & Sex! hmm... I think of sex as an athletic endeavor anyhow. You should do it a manner that leaves you physically exhausted. Just more fun to me.

If you click on "Full details can be found here" in nicola's opening post, all that sort of information is there.

I think I saw a tv show years back about how tug of war is still very popular in Switzerland. I'll have to look it up.

That particular info doesn't seem to be there, which is why I imagine JefferyB asked. Perhaps I missed it as well.

[edit: it was there and I missed it as well. Oops. Sorry!]
it would be better if mods and friends of mods didn't participate .. wouldn't fell like it is rigged and everybody feels like that have a chance ..but good luck and God bless everyone
