Received the message about the new mobile site. The portion below in bold concerns me. That is not carrying over the discussion forums content. I've been following a wide variety of discussion forums for two decades. Several I was very active in were 'up dated', with the same philosophy of not carrying over the existing content. In each case there was a huge drop in participation. Some to the point where the discussion forums are near dead with minimal participation from a few. This was consistent across the the discussion forums of these web sites. In one case it took near a decade to build participation back up to the earlier levels, others dont seem to have recovered. One of the web sites pretty much died after this ill considered action. Anyone advising not carrying over the current discussions is doing the members of this site a disservice. Further it questions their judgement and understanding of how forums work, and other aspects of web site attraction.

Web sites live or die by their content. Eliminating large blocks of content is a significant disincentive for readers/member to move on to other sites. The appeal to members to spend extra time creating new content as filler is largely a non starter. Most of us don't have extra time to generate extra posts, topic starters.

Last, logging into the new mobile site linked here directs me to creating a new profile page. This is another time waster and disincentive to use it.

Thanks for soliciting my input. Hope you can find some top quality advice on updating LushStories.

A new message has been sent to you from Lush.

Hi,

I'm reaching out to you as part of the 500+ forum posts club.

As you may or may not be aware, we've launched a new mobile site this week.

We wanted to keep the forums there new (and importing 3+ million forum posts would be a little bit silly).

However, that makes the site look empty, which isn't an encouraging sign for new visitors. The first place I always look on a site, are the forums, to see how active they are.

So, the reason for writing, is that it would be great if you would help us out, and start posting over there to make it look busier.

It doesn't have to be anything ground breaking. Repeating popular threads from the desktop site is absolutely fine. The primary goal is to make it look active.

You can log in to the new mobile site with your existing credentials: https://m.lushstories.com/forum

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A huge thank you in advance to those who pick up the gauntlet!

Cheers,

Nicola
Same threads that are here are encouraged to start on mobile site again.
I don't see a problem w/ that.

Have you managed to use mobile site?
I cannot find a way to log in. Every attempt takes me to a "Join" page.

Also, why doesn't the mobile site just bring us to the existing site?

The problem that I think he is alluding to is that the mobile site should be a mobile-friendly view of the existing forum, not its own thing. We shouldn't have to restart threads from here because they should already be there. I'll refrain from saying more because I engaged with Nic privately on the matter.

I kinda can tell why it's best to restart original threads on mobile site instead of just copying and pasting in a way what's been here to there.

I kinda think it's best. You get to see what other members prefer to post.

See, here's my problem. I am on three other forums regularly. All use forum software that adapts to mobile, so you see the same forums, threads, and posts on your phone as when you're on desktop. No copying and pasting, no synchronization, it's just a different view of the same data depending on which device you use.

That's what I want here. I don't want to be checking two sites to see what some friends of mine who are on both have posted. I just want one site that works on both mobile and desktop. So, for now, (and this is not the only reason) I am sitting out the mobile site.
I will say that I don't like the new mobile site at all. I much prefer the old mobile site which was a reflection of the online site and it was so easy to use. Why change???
