Other than shoes (what woman doesn't have a large shoe collection?), I have more earrings than Claire's! Much better quality too.

I have an unusually big collection of eclectica (I made a new word!) strange musical instruments, weird objects from places I have been, original art, shiny rocks, dozens of candlesticks/holders, dozens of pillows, stuff like Tibetan prayer flags, Chinese lanterns, unique sculpture...you know, weird stuff....

i have a pretty decent sized jewelry collection. my stuff ranges from high quality to throw aways. i adore hitting up a thrift shop and yard sales to feed my habit. my collection centers around cocktail rings and bracelets. i have long fingers and dainty wrists and like to draw attention to them.

I have an unusually big collection of STORIES! LOL! In addition to the 334 I have already published, I have 170 more I have written and are waiting to be published!

Might have to double up for a bit and publish twice a week for awhile!

Playing cards . . . I have countless decks from around the world, spanning 20 years of collecting.

No way, me too! smile

My collection consists predominantly of boutique decks produced by companies like Ellusionist, Theory11, etc. rather than cards from far off lands. There's nothing rare or valuable in my collection as I use them to practice with.

I have two old (no longer maintained) collections: Star Wars action figures from when I was a kid and a bunch of vintage video game consoles, including a Vectrex with 3D goggles.

Not as such. I have a lot of copies of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, but not really. In high school I played some nerdy games that required the collecting of cards and things, but those have all found new homes.

Very nice :)

I'm a "whatever - as long as it's cards" type of collector. If someone's lost on gift-giving I've told them a deck of cards of any type would work just fine. LOL

Though I can't shuffle worth a crap :) not my forte. I just like the concept of them - the artwork.

Some are valuable, though. I have some vintage cards from the Civil War.

I would love to see a set of cards from the Civil War! Especially in your hands Metilda. :)

I love to collect one wooden ship/boat from every country I visit. I have dozens of them.

I also collect "paper-cuts" of many kinds. I have one, for example, that is a large paper cut of a Chinese Dragon that covers a 9x12 inch page.
It is in a deep lake red.

I've collected a lot of stuff since I was a kid. When I was young I had everything from baseball cards to comics, shells, rocks and animal skulls.

Now I have large collections of books, historical weapons, Chicago Cubs memorabilia and action figures. I actually have so much stuff that it becomes a pain in the ass to move.

I think the internet has ruined collecting because you can pretty much just buy anything you want online.

I didn't mention my large collection of Georgia Bulldog football tickets. They're my tickets dating back to when I was a kid, as I went to games with my parents or granddad. The tickets include several road games and lots of bowl games. Though I didn't get to go to the Rose Bowl the other night.

DamonX mentioned historical weapons which sounds very interesting to me. I have several black powder guns, some are working replicas and many are the real antiques. I generally don't shoot the antiques as you never know how stable the gun is now. I don't want one to explode in my face.

If y'all know anything about black powder, most of these are muzzleloaders, the powder, ball, and wadding has to be packed. Some require percussion caps. They are awesome fun to shoot and thick smoke goes everywhere.

I have some WW1 rifles (An Enfield and a Springfield) but I've found older stuff pretty hard to find. They are expensive and transporting across the border is a bit of a pain the the ass.

Do you know any good places to buy from? I don't buy much stuff anymore but I used to get most of my stuff from IMA (International Medical Antiques) out of New Jersey. I bought a flint lock pistol a few years ago but it was super expensive and I super regret it. Now I prefer 19th century and up.

I have a couple of 1880 Martini Henry rifles that have been passed down through my family. (in Australia The MH replaced the Enfield) These were used by Melbourne police but they were also used by the military. The firing pins have been removed because... Australia. Still not supposed to have them without a collectors licence and they should be kept in a gun safe, even though they can’t be used. They’re awesome to look at. Amazing something that looks so simple was used as a military and police weapon.

I also collect antique china.

Everyone in my house collects except me. My husband has a huge collection of Franklin mint cars. As well as plastic model cars. My sons and my husband have hundreds of hot wheels and matchbox cars still in packages. My oldest son also has Jesse James motorcycles and monster garage bikes and cars as well as rocks, and these new Funko pops. My younger son collects knives and car symbols. My mother-in-law collects Barbies and Danbury mint dolls as well as baby dolls. My daughter is starting a collection of pretty rocks and Indian dolls They will tell you I collect wayward children that are lost and need a friend as I have several "kids" who come to me for parenting or just in confidence.

I guess recorded music. I don't know if my collection is excessively large, but I seem to have curated more than most other people I know, and I'm always searching for new interesting things to listen to (or digging deep into the past for overlooked gems). Mostly rock (in all its weird and wonderful variations), some jazz, blues, hip-hop, and electronic. In terms of MP3s alone, I found that if I put all of the music on my computer into a single playlist, I could listen for over two months straight (24 hours a day) and not hear the same song twice.

Post-avant-retro-demelodicized-electro-yodel-core is my jam.

I've collected baseball cards since my early teens. Every now and then if I see a pack for sale, I'll pick them up. In my office, I have a wall where I stick up any card of a player who played for the Cardinals at some point.

Hair ties, due to misplacing them, always picking up more and have a decent sock collection, warm fuzzy socks or cute ones with cute designs.

I really got the bug by having a family heirloom Civil War Enfield passed down to me. I've been lucky twice on word of mouth deals. My best luck has been talking with local gunshop owners. The South is especially loaded with old guns. I've also purchased over the internet. IBefore I knew better I spent too much for one at CollectorsFirearms. You're right, they are very expensive and the internet sites charge prime prices. I've still bought there though. When you want something bad enough, well... Everynow and then I just check out the internet sites like OldGuns, etc.

I almost forgot: http://www.cabelas.com/category/Antique-Firearms-Gun-Library/103799880.uts

I've found a couple of guns at Cabelas I really like.

I've been bird hunting in Alberta and after a bunch of paperwork, I was able to bring my shotgun with me, in a locked case, in baggage. Canada did a serious background check on us since we were bringing guns. One guy with a DUI more than 10 years before was denied and that was his only ever legal infraction. They wanted more documentation on my motorcycle traffic tickets but didn't deny me.

Don't you have some antique swords and other blades? Did you find some of those at IMA? I'll check that one out.
