I was raised in very conservative (religiously and otherwise) family in the deep south. My parents kept me on a short leash needless to say. They discouraged my interest in boys even as an older teenager. Many of my peers were raised similarly. That said, I learned most of my theoretical sex education from my peers (mostly girls) in high school. Some had augmented it was practical experience. I did have a boyfriend in high school (we had been friends since elementary school and middle school), but my parents never allowed me to call him a boyfriend and the only time I was allowed to date was when we were in group dates. He was a year older than me and when he graduated from high school, my parents very clearly made it know that they considered it inappropriate for me to see him. None-the-less we did see each other on a regular non-sexual basis (mainly in school sponsored events like sports games and at the diner where I worked as a waitress) and sexually on a more irregular and infrequent basis. He taught the first practical aspects of sex including fellatio and cunnilingus. In the summer between my junior and senior years in high school, I lost my virginity to him. I continued to see him when coming home from college for a few years but we gradually drifted apart. Although I keep in touch with him and we're still good friends, I would say I have no sexual interest in him now although I treasure what we shared.

When I was in 16 back in 1962, my father took me to a couple of very lame birds and bees workshop at the YMCA which gave me a little understanding of what happens during sex.
