"Hey, kid where you heading?" the driver barked as I climbed the steps onto his bus. "Houston." "You'll be riding to the end of the line then. Get a comfortable seat because there are a few stops before we get there. "Thanks for the advice." Unfortunately, I was going for a draft physical. I’d drawn the black bean and couldn’t get out of it. The draft commission had sent me a letter informing me as to when and where I nee...

A few months later, my number was called and it was off to the Army, but, thankfully, not Vietnam. I ended up stationed in a little Post in southeastern Arizona, Fort Huachucha. As newbies, we didn’t get much time off base, but when we did, we headed straight for the red-light district in Nogales, Mexico. It was like fishing at a catfish farm where every fish is always hungry. Women everywhere and they were itching to get...

After getting discharged from the Army, I set out to begin my civilian life. I found a job and was staying with a college friend, splitting the rent until I got a place of my own. After a couple of months, I happily moved from my friend's apartment for several reasons - one, he was a slob, and two, the privacy. I began my apartment move on Saturday morning. Summer was approaching and I knew that in a couple of weeks our battalion would be off to Fort Bragg for our annual two weeks of training and playing Army. Our battalion was the only National Guard airborne field artillery unit in the country. During summer camp, we would jump-in (parachute) with our equipment upon arrival at the Fort. Even the Regular Army folks would watch that spectacle. It was a sight to see and one o...

With a four-month-long, pussy-less dearth, it seemed the women I had dated all wanted a long-term thing. I wasn't ready for that, so I did the only thing that would remove the backlog in my balls. I called Gary. He picked up on the second ring like he’d been expecting me. “Well…, well,” he said, that familiar grin practically visible through the phone. “Look who finally remembered I exist.” We traded a few standard exchan...
